I got the lunch special steak hibachi. It was honestly really amazing. The only problem I have with this place was the cashier. She was yelling on the phone as my boyfriend and I were trying to order. Then she got snappy with us when we were trying to ask her a question about the menu. I went with the Teriyaki chicken, comes with white rice and lettuce. Its a decent serving for 1 Adult. Aiming for portion controls? Thats ok for the size. Come with a drink n access to the self serve soda machine. Soda pop is well balanced also. They offer tea if u don't want sugar soda. Inside theres enough tables n a bar area for sushi with it sushi chef on stand by. Couple tvs, bathrooms and nit to noisy either. The variety of options here seems good but I've only had the steak hibachi takeout which is usually really good. Once in awhile the steak comes more chewy like a lesser quality was available that day. However, I strongly caution against ordering a party tray! We thought it would be the better value to feed a small crowd for a birthday gathering. And at first glance it was... the amount of food was good... if you really like vegetables. Our steak trays were about 95% vegetables and only a little bit of steak on top to make it appear better than it really was. It would have been majorly disappointing if this were for a different type of party other than close family or only the first few people through the "buffet line" would have grabbed up all the meat and everyone else would have thought we just provided veggie platters. To be fair, the veggies are good but definitely not an even proportion to be a good value or satisfy a crowd. Hibachi Express has 2 locations that i know of and go to. One on 60 in Valrico, Florida and the other in Temple Terrace on 56th by Busch Blvd. Not your regular Chinese food take out. To me, Hibachi Express is cleaner in flavor. Their rice is plain rice with what seasoni g tgey put in it, no extras (peas, carrots, bean sprouts) none of that. Your choice of meat (chicken, shrimp, beef) and zucchini/squash sautéed. Sushi is really good here. In both price and taste. They have a wide range of rolls that theycan make. This spot is a quick version of traditional commercialized Japanese hibachi. It is my go to lunch stop, since I've been working from home. It's pretty close to home and they're usually very quick with my order. Today I decided to call ahead. I highly recommend calling ahead of your taking it out. I ordered the H7, create your own combo with chicken and steak for $12.95. It came with fried rice, mixed vegetables and a salad with ginger dressing. I did have to pay extra for added Yum Yum sauce, the one small container the meal comes with is definitely not enough. I usually order the "lunch special" (it come with a beverage as well) for $7.95 and it is a generous portion of one person. In the future, I may just stick to that as the hibachi entree was enough for two people. Normally that's a good thing! But I'm not sure I'm going to be able to get to the leftovers, so it may just be a waste. They also have Japanese noodles, sushi rolls (made in front of you!), sashimi, teriyaki rice bowls, Katsu and party sized hibachi and sushi boxes. There is a kids menu too. If you're in Valrico or Brandon and enjoy hibachi without the long drawn out show and without noodles- this is worth a visit! read more

This place was so hard to find. I'm so glad that another Yelper described it as being behind the big ice cream cone. It's definitely a hidden gem. It's in the LA Fitness plaza, and closer to the Cracker Barrel on SR 60. I wanted to take mom out for a healthy meal. The pictures of the hibachi lunch special showed large amounts of veggies. That's what we needed. I am so happy to say that the steak hibachi lunch was so yummy. I could eat veggies all day if it tasted like the ones at Hibachi Japanese Express. They were cut large and wok fried in this wonderful sauce. The steak was a very good quality, and very tender. It had a nice grilled taste. The rice also had great flavor, and it was very moist. Possibly cooked in a broth. All I know is that it was all very good. The yum yum sauce was great on the steak. Mom was dipping her shrimp in the yum yum sauce. She loved her shrimp hibachi. She was also able to get a large cup of hot green tea, and seemed to enjoy it. The taste of the food reminded her of Benihana's, but without all the bean sprouts. We will be back for more in the near future. They have sushi, teriyaki rice bowls, yakisoba, and all different appetizers. I'm looking forward to trying more menu items. read more

Delicious, fresh food, great prices and generous portions! It's very clean and spartan inside, mostly serving a to go and lunch crowd so ambiance inside reflects this. They are also very fast which I appreciate! I get my hibachi fix here, I recommend everything but the steak. For some reason, it's never cooked consistently. My go to is the scallops and chicken. The sushi rolls are also very good. My favorites include the rainbow roll and spider roll. read more

The Hibachi Express in Brandon is not good. The one in plant city is great! The one in Brandon took forever to cook the meals (made each and every individual plate separately), and the sushi was falling out of the roll. There were no fish eggs on the sushi either. We had hibachi chicken lunch special with just vegetables and the volcano roll and another on with fried fish, bacon and cream cheese, can't remember the name. The hibachi was very good and the volcano roll was very good, the other one was just strange with the bacon. The hibachi lunch special was 7$ not bad for good lunch.
