This food truck came to our apartment complex tonight so we decided to try it out. They have all the classic hibachi options with protein choices like steak, chicken and shrimp. Every plate comes with veggies and steamed rice, with the option to upgrade to fried rice, chicken fried rice or shrimp fried rice for an extra charge. They have daily specials; today (Monday)'s was a filet mignon plate for $15. We ordered 2 of these and upgraded to fried rice for an extra $2 per plate. They also have sauce options for $0.75, so we added on 2 ginger sauces. We got our food pretty quickly and were really pleased with all of it! The filet was tender and perfectly cooked to our preferred temperature of medium rare. The veggies were mushrooms, zucchini and onions. The fried rice was buttery and delicious. All of it was well seasoned and the ginger sauce was the perfect accompaniment. Will absolutely come back every time this truck is here! This place should be called Hibachi Peasants. Yelp really needs a zero star option for places like this. As a matter of fact, this "restaurant" owes me stars. I ordered the chicken plate via Postmates. The picture on the app shows chicken drizzled in teriyaki sauce, it also states the plate comes with vegetables. I was very disappointed when my ordered arrived. The chicken had no teriyaki, which it desperately needed. The chicken, the rice, and the "vegetables" (it was just some squash and raw onions) had no flavor at all. If you scroll down you'll see other reviews with the same complaints. Evidently, customer service and quality are NOT their top priorities. I was not able to finish this, I tried to give it to my dog but he turned it down too. The packaging was also not secure. This is, according to Hibachi Kings, a standard serving size of their vegetable side. Mind you, it costs $4.75. Mushrooms were missing too, but I don't think even mushrooms would have saved this fiasco. I went back to ask about it, and was told "the container makes it look smaller than it is". Teppanyaki for dinner. My cousin recommended this food truck since she's local and had it before. Opened the link on the Yelp app to their website and was able to view their menu and they also had an option to order online. We ordered 2 chicken and steak combos with fried rice (extra $2 charge) and 1 steak and shrimp combo. The email confirmation stated it would be ready in 20mins and I was charged. Once we arrived at the truck I approached the pick up window and said I was there for pick up and I ordered through the website on the Yelp app. The guy I spoke to was nice and he was looking over the tickets and didn't see my order. He placed a call to the manager and they asked for proof of purchase and I showed the email confirmation of my order. My debit card was also charged. He said he didn't receive it but they made my order. My order was place and confirmed through the clover app. I'm not sure what happened and he didn't know either. And I didn't get a chance to ask if that's happened before. They made our order quickly took about 15 mins. When we got home the food was still hot. They gave us some sauces (garlic butter, Diablo, teriyaki and spicy mayo). I thought the food was really good. The meat was great quality and cooked well. My new favorite hibachi in San Diego! Came here after I going down 3rd street and my original spot wasn't open yet so me and my buddy decided to come here. We shared the kings Burrito which was so amazing! I got the 3 meat plate with filet migon , chicken, and shrimp on top of fried rice. Really good their filet migon was probably the best tasting steak I've recently had. My friend got the steak and lobster plate over white rice and fell in love with it. Second time I've come to the food truck on broadway and they were either closed or not there at all. Their hours say ope every day from 10-10 with a daily lunch special from 12-4. Last time I went a couple weeks ago it was about 1:00. The truck was there and the (very rude) teenage girl who was at the window told me they were closed and won't be open for another couple of hours. Second time I went yesterday, food truck wasn't there at all. They advertise having the food truck at the 2991 Broadway address daily, but are so inconsistent with their hours it's not even worth trying. Service is mediocre. TLDR: Ordered and paid for my food online, arrived at the location only to see them packing up. They claimed they never received an order but did take my payment. I spent over $65 and 25 minutes driving 18 miles to a location to be told they were sorry I checked the establishments website and saw they were open from 10am to 10 pm. So at around 4pm, I placed an order for two bowls to be picked up totaling $65+. I drive all the way from Imperial beach to National city and upon arriving I noticed they were closing up shop and preparing to leave. I thought maybe my food was ready so when I go to ask about my order, I get a blank stare back. Apparently they never received an order and had already closed everything up. I showed them my receipt on my phone stating that they received the order and took payment but it didnt seem to matter. Instead of food I got a business card with instructions to call that number and get a refund. What about my time and gas? When i call this number, I dont get an answer. I do get a text back eventually stating the manager was in a conference call but that my voicemail was read, along with a cookie cutter manager response that they will discuss this with their team to do better in the future. Nowhere did they say they were closing 6 hours early.....So I spent over $65 and 25 minutes driving 18 miles to a location to be told they were sorry that they didnt have my order. Really happy with this place! I got a steak bowl and it was phenomenal! I didn't realize there were mushrooms in it and I hate mushrooms, so I had to pick them all out, which took a bit of time. But I'm glad the mushroom flavor didn't remain after I took them out. The actual steak itself was really good! There were a few chewy pieces, but overall very well done! I have to leave a review about my experience with Hibachi Kings, I always get amazing service. I come here for a steak bowl, the rice is always my favorite! But not only has the truck been a go to for my personal hunger, my office has catered them multiple times! They are always prompt with service and have the food hot and ready! I see the reviews saying no flavor, are you kidding me? We love the Diablo sauce over here, and it's flavorful to add to any of your meals! I will say I wish they had a tofu option... BUT I left plenty full with just rice and veggies. I somehow came upon this food truck from Instagram (so props to your marketing cause it someone reached me) and have had this place saved for months. My fiancé and I had to go pick up our car in the area so it was finally time. They are conveniently located on 3rd street, so if you already know, parking can be horrendous depending on what time you go. We went around 4pm and there was absolutely no wait. One downfall is that there is no seating in the adjacent area, but if you cross 3rd street, there are plenty of tables inside that plaza. Simple menu and then combos as well (highly recommend going on their special days). Pretty pricey full price, but the specials are definitely worth it. I ended up ordering the shrimp and chicken combo and my fiancé ordered the steak bowl, we both opted for the fried rice. [forgot to take a picture, sorry!] Portions are definitely large! I ended up only eating half and saving a huge portion for lunch today. The amount of chicken and shrimp were definitely plenty, but it was way too much rice for me personally.
