    Surf and Turf Fries, $20
    Stephanie L.

This review is for the location inside of the Tijuana Food Court in Chula Vista. My friend prefers the taco truck location as she reports the quality is better, however, on the particular Saturday we went it was closed. For all the raving she did, I was nothing short of disappointed. The fried fish taco, Ensenada Pescado, was $2.50ish and standard street taco size. The fish itself was nowhere to be found, heavily coated in batter. While the portion size of the Taco Coronado (Grilled Tilapia) was generous, it was costly at ~$6. The tilapia was also bland and fishy. My friend paid $19 for the Surf and Turf fries (Carne asada & Shrimp). $19 and the shrimp was burnt! There are SO many better, fresh, and CHEAPER fish taco spots in San Diego. I knew we should have gone to my favorite fish taco spot.

The fish taco truck community is viscous!! Some are misses and then there's trucks like these that make me wonder how a mobile vehicle can produce such quality tacos!!! We had the fish tacos and the surf and turf fries. Both were really good :) come check out the line of taco trucks here in the area, it's always fun to hang out and eat greasy food!

Love this place! Fish tacos are the best and packed with lots of flavor. Surf and turf burrito was also really good and they weren't stingy with the meat and shrimp either. Tried their pineapple agua fresca. So refreshing for a hot day. Ingredients are fresh. The seating area is cute with picnic tables and an awning that provides adequate shade. Would def recommend this place.

Tacos Sonora are my go to when coming here! I just recently tried their surf and turf burrito and wow, it's extremely delicious! I think I'll be getting that from now on as well!

This is a great food truck. I love that they provide a covered seating area for customers, not to mention that they make some great eats as well. I enjoyed a couple of tacos from them: a fish taco a la plancha or cooked on the hot griddle and skirt steak and shrimp taco known as the "Sonora Taco." The fish was about $2 and the the Sonoran $4. I had the tacos with all the fixings and they were great. The fish taco came with well distinct fish filetes and came with a nice sear with tender succulent meat. They have the timing and temp down right. The toppings, the shredded fresh cabbage, a touch of pico and light crema fresca. The quality of the corn tortillas was on point. The Sonoran taco was bliss and came packed with tender arrachera a.k.a skirt steak and small to medium shrimp. The meat was well seasoned and quite flavorful and he shrimp cooked just right and popped with great flavor. The addition of the freshly sliced avocado a top the taco was a great idea and the creamy chipotle drizzle brought everything together nicely. Great stuff indeed. They have a great line of creative tacos and quite a list of scrumptious seafood offerings. The staff members in the truck were up beat and friendly. I liked that they took the time to walk the crowd and ask if their food was okay or if they needed anything else.

Most important is that El Cacho food truck has moved about a half mile to 1282 3rd ave just north of Palomar street on the west side of 3rd. They are hidden behind Tiajuana food garden, very easy to miss the turn in driveway. Much nicer location than on Main Street with shaded picnic benches and quieter. Great street seafood.

I was on a little road trip passing by Chula Vista frantically searching for a good place to stop for food, when we just passed by this place. Imagine our luck! Btw, there is a food truck location which is in a lot on the side of a road, and then there is a newer location where El Cacho shares a space with several other eateries and there's a large outdoor seating area. All I can say is w o w. The menu is extensive but I'm a huge seafood fan so I went straight for the fresh ahi tuna/shrimp tostada. There was a pulpo (octopus) and shrimp one too and I love pulpo and asked if they could just add it to the ahi tuna one. They did it no extra charge! There was fried onion on top and plenty of avocado which really just hit the spot. It was quite pricy ($17) but well worth it for a MOUNTAIN of seafood. My friend got a steak and shrimp taco which was good, but not mind blowing, as well as a spicy tuna tostada (had the best kick!). They packaged the mariscos separately from the tostadas so it would not get soggy and it was perfect for takeout. Service was really quick - you walk up to order and then we waited less than 10 minutes then we were happy and on our way! Would 10/10 make the drive back down just for that fresh seafood!

Oh man, I love me some aguachiles. I especially love them if they're freshly made and the shrimps are just barely cooked. I tried the chiltirindo aguachiles and they were a little too sweet for me. The verde and mango habanero was perfection! I also got a cocktail which was perfect and a agua Fresca de fresa *drool* definitely my new go-to mariscos spot. And right down the street from the old spot La Cacho.

    NICE!

The Fish Tacos and Shrimp Tacos are delicious and the freshest ingredients are used. The Fish Ceviche is some of the best I have had. Absolutely delicious!

Fresh mariscos with unparalleled depth of flavor is what you'll find at El Cacho. I truly believe you can't go wrong while exploring this menu, but if you're after some truly unique flavors, the tuna tostada and the octopus taco will not disappoint! The basic fish taco is done perfectly. And washing it all down with agau fresca is a real summer treat! I'll be back often. And don't miss their new location in Pacific Beach next to Broken Yolk.

It's no secret that San Diego has tacos in…read morespades and being so close to the border, you'd think that a quest to find the perfect taco would be as simple as rolling down to the nearest taqueria. Except, it's not quite that simple. Many beloved staples have gone downhill, while some newer spots that might boast things like a Michelin mention or multiple locations ranging from TJ to Vegas contain more hype and gristle than tender meat and substance. Enter Chula Tacos. Chula is, and always was, the type of place that makes you forget that you're not actually in Tijuana. While part of me misses their OG Market Street location, seeing them with brick-and-mortars feels hard-earned and well-deserved. This location on Palm in IB is relatively easy to access from the freeway, but parking can be tricky. You can safely assume that it will be busy and you will either have to be very lucky or be willing to find a spot on the street. Out of all the times I've been here, it's always been crowded enough that I've never been able to find a table inside, but I enjoy sitting out on the patio next to the ahumederos. The first thing that hits you walking through the door is how amazing everything smells. The queue to the cashier takes you near a window showing the kitchen where you can see the Chula Tacos team making fresh tortillas, slicing meat from the trompos, grilling up jalapenos, nopales, onions, labio, and tripa. For me, it's not so much a challenge to decide what I want, it's more a challenge to keep myself from ordering everything. My usual is four tacos: two asada, two al pastor (but I've heard that I should also try their world famous keka). The tacos though? Perfection. Every time, the asada is the juiciest and most tender I've ever eaten, the al pastor is succulent and flavorful, and no taco in front of me is long for the world. At $3.50 each, every one of them is absolutely loaded. Three would honestly fill me up, but I always want four. After getting burned by spots that ask around 75% more and deliver anywhere between 25-50% less, Chula Tacos feels like an absolute godsend of a Tijuana-style taqueria and I can't see any other contenders being my go-to. So, when I say "Tacos will fix me," what I mean nowadays is "Chula Tacos will fix me."

Every item we ordered was packed with delicious flavors and made fresh. One thing that stood out was their attention to detail with to-go orders--they provided plenty of condiments, including a variety of salsas, cucumbers, radishes, and peppers, which really elevated the meal. The highlight of the menu is the Keka Taco. It is incredibly delicious, loaded with flavor, and so filling that it can easily satisfy even the biggest appetite. The only downside to this establishment is the limited parking, which can make picking up your order a bit challenging during busy times. However, the amazing food and generous portions more than make up for the parking inconvenience. If you're in the area, the Keka Taco is a must-try!

For food we had birria tacos and a torta, honestly it was probably the best birria I have had in SD so far. I thought it was very flavorful and moist. Sadly Im allergic to onions so I asked for it to be removed and thankfully my torta didn't have any. Though we didn't get to try Ed Fernandez, we ended up at another amazing restaurant! Kinda like transformers, the owners of the truck set up a roofed open fire grill atop which flaps of animal protein would be sizzling and releasing their nostril-flaringly delicious meat scents to the nearby trolley station. If that's not an effective way of selling their tacos, the line of fresh condiments and the 4 complimentary salsas will. The owners aren't very fluent in English, so having Spanish in your language repertoire is a plus. You order and pay at the cashier (~$1ea), which is outside of the truck, and walk a few steps to the truck itself; where you'll be handed your order. Serious selection here, guys, you'll have a BLAST Only thing I didn't like about the taco I ordered was the fact that it was served as a 2-tortilla taco; I know it's more authentic, it's just a bit strange chewing on two texturally different tortillas from the same taco...
