I was around the corner at the DMV for like 3 hours (I'm never moving out of Cali again...) and waiting in the line for vehicle inspection when I said, let me get some food and wait instead... So glad I found Mar Y Tierra!!! Everyone was sooo nice to me even though I had a hard time remembering "sesenta" briefly (when I think in Spanish now, Japanese comes out... it's funny but it's a problem lol) and even though I'm a gringa with a basic order. I just got 1 shrimp & 1 fish taco both with avocado and a jamaica. When I tell you I ate these like I had never eaten food before... Shrimp was incredibly tender and wonderful. The fish was huge, flaky and crispy and juicy. Honestly I ate them so quickly they could've been made of liquid. But they were sooo delicious!! They included extra sauce and the green salsa wasn't too spicy for me which I so appreciate! They also included 2 limes for one of the tacos which made me think someone really loves me today :') I would definitely come back here anytime and try more things on the menu! Very very delicious!! This food truck had outstanding food and it's been a hidden gem for me but not anymore. I think they have some of the absolute best fish tacos in San Diego. So fresh, the cabbage was excellent and it's a loaded taco. They did not disappoint! The shrimp taco especial was just as outstanding! I got it grilled and it did it was on point. This was my second time here and they always seem to be pretty busy. they get the food out in a timely manner and they have a free consume for you to sip on while you wait. (careful it's hot!) the portions are quite generous and the seafood is cooked very well. the fish taco was a little underwhelming but i really enjoyed the fried/grilled shrimp combo taco. not sure if i missed it, but they need some hot sauce! read more

This has got to be one of the BEST taco truck stops ever! It is widely known that when in So Cal, taco trucks & mexican food are plentiful. But this location is a must! So delicious and the set up was perfect if you want quality+variety. The taco trucks include one which is "Mar" (mariscos/seafood) and the other is "Tierra" (burritos, tacos, etc). They have a great covered seating area which is perfect for a hot day in between and you can try a little of both. My husband went with the Tierra truck and had the adobada, asada, birria tacos and I went with the quesabirria (which was a large portion!) and from the Mar truck, a shrimp taco gobernador. We were in taco truck heaven. We were served promptly and spice and flavor of everything was delicious. We were also treated with a cup of extra "consume" from the Tierra truck (broth where birria is made) as well as some of the seafood broth from the Mar truck. I visited this establishment on 2/20/2026 and placed a large to-go order for my family and me. We ordered a camarón tostada, and the shrimp had a pinkish-red color, a slimy texture, and an extremely unpleasant taste--resembling dirty water and spoiled cheese. The aftertaste lingered for quite some time. We also ordered the tostada loca, which included scallops that tasted very old, rubbery, and overwhelmingly fishy. Due to serious concerns about freshness and food safety, we decided to discard the entire seafood portion of our order. Lastly, the agua fresca de limón tasted that of artificial flavor and old carton - this was my young daughter's own words. We stopped by this weekend and realized they had added an additional food truck where they sell birria, adobada, Asada, aguas frescas etc. This has become a one stop wonder, they have something for everyone. We ordered: fish tacos, shrimp tacos, shrimp coctel, a new shrimp taco with octopus and a chipotle sauce. Everything tasted amazingly and perfectly cooked. The new taco was a great addition. The new food truck did not disappoint. We ordered two birria tacos. They were on the bigger side and priced perfectly for that portion. The cashier gave me a consome cup and it was beyond flavorful. Compliments to the guy who makes the birria, not anyone can get it to taste this flavorful. They did not compromise the quality of the meat. Everything in my taco and consome was pure meat no fat, which I appreciate. The service by both the cashier and the cook was great, they were extremely friendly. The quality of the food here is on hit, fire, bomb.. if you ever have a really bad partying hangover. This spot is the cure just drink one of their free courtesy broth. While the food looked great, it really lacked in flavor. We got a taco gobernador, arrachera y camaron taco, and taco Hercules. They gave free samples of the fish soup and that was tasty. The salsa verde was good, but the habanero salsa was not spicy at all and just pretty much tasted like lime juice. Everyone knows the best seafood comes from a food truck!!! This one beats any others in the area. Even better than Mariscos La Reyna Mariscos German in southeast San Diego. The fish tacos come with huge portions of freshly battered cod. I love that they use real corn tortillas. They're topped with finely chopped cabbage, cilantro, cream sauce, onions and tomato. I do wish they came with more sauce but they did offer a tiny to go cup but it wasn't enough for the 8 tacos I ordered. The shrimp and octopus cocktail is also a good go to because they come with big plump shrimp and finely sliced octopus. Luckily the sauce was balanced and didn't have too much ketchup. Mar Y Tierra came highly recommended by a local around Nat City and it for sure was one of the best trucks i've eaten at! There's ample parking around the truck and standing tables! You can't really go wrong with any of the seafood tacos - I highly recommend the Gobernador , the creamy, and the arrachera because those 3 that we ordered were super fresh, the vinegar complements the base seafood taste, and the salsa and guac just make each bite feel complete. The aguachile tostada and the octopus tostada were also extremely fresh, and the arrangement of onion, guac, tomato, lime is just perfect on top of nicely fried tostadas. Since the shrimp here is so good, we tried the shrimp coctel as well and, well, it was good!
