Walked in and it being a Friday night at 930pm it was dead. There were one other family there when we got seated at the hibachi table.. But no one else. I was worried once I observed this but was completely turned upside down once our chef came out and started working his magic! He cracked jokes and did a awesome performance involving our food. The number one thing I loved the most is squirting sake into our mouths a few times when we missed catching the food.. And once in the beginning just to get us excited. We visited on Saturday after the quarantine we were looking for something different. We ordered some sushi rolls and my daughter and I shared. Wonderful. It was fresh and flavorful. We ordered the crab rangoons they were crispy and very delicious. We plan on going again because we were impressed and love sushi. They do have a hibachi also and looks like a good variety. Very good filet, shrimp, lobster, chicken and fried rice. The clear soup and salad were average, at best. Service was generally good but the chef was great. Not an upscale crowd, but nobody was causing trouble either, except perhaps for some unruly children. I was at work yesterday and I looked through my entertainment coupon app and found digital coupon for this place. I get there for my carry out order and was told that they would not accept the coupon because it had to be printed out. I then tried to make a compromise and ask for another deal that they had and was told that it had to be an online order. I asked where there manager was and was told the they were back cooking. I calmly said that I didn't want the food and went to leave. After doing a almost 25 hr shift and then having to do a fill in shift between Friday at 8:00 AM to Saturday at 8:45 AM. Then working the 3-7 fill in Saturday afternoon. I just was wanted to leave. The lady proceeded to call the police and tell that I refused to pay for the food. Just like she had the right not to take the coupon I had the right not to purchase the food and not be harassed. She stood behind my vehicle and wouldn't let me leave. I couldn't believe what was happening so that's why I have two snippets of video because it was just so crazy. I stayed there because I do have a concealed carry permit and I didn't want to be the next person that you see on TV because a stop went wrong. It's a total shame that I had to go through that and think like that being an African American woman but it is what it is and this is the world we live in. read more

Can't find service to get a drink...let alone another drink. Carryout was running 30+ minutes past the 30 minutes promised. Hard to determine what their priorities are...maybe hibachi tables? If you don't have a hibachi reservation, plan to wait a long time. Only slightly shorter wait with a reservation. Loud woman in charge(?) either invisible or yelling at staff in Chinese(?). She's also not very nice to guests. When service and/or food is poor, comp meals, provide discounts and maybe give guests a reason to possibly return. I tried this place with a lot of reluctance. I ordered a very simple meal I felt could not be messed up. I was wrong. My "soba noodles" were ramen noodles. My meal was cold and had to take it to the counter,because the server we could not get the servers attention to return to the table. She had 3 to 4 tables and was standing at the counter on her phone. A man from the back came out and I explained that my food was cold and asks if I got the wrong meal. He said no I had the Soba meal. I said this is vermicelli noodles! I explained my spouse lived in Japan while in the Marines for over a year and I make my own Soba at home. The man behind the counter, I believe was an owner. He said that the package says it is Soba. When my meal was heated up it was thrown in front off me and it was still not warm. The server/ owner came back to the table only tto ask if I wanted a box of my untouched food when I said no she stormed away . When we paid the owner gain said to my spouse that he serves soba. My spouse replied I sure wish you cared about your quality your food. Not only is my spouse a Marine but a chef for over 40 years. Shame. My second place of sushi in Cincinnati just happened to be right down the road from where my bff used to live. She said she had a good experience there so we went. They offer hibachi here too which I'll have to go check out at a later date ... and I'll update this. We ordered 5 rolls and edamame which was the perfect appetizer to my already starving belly. Our server was a great guy ... so great that I forgot his name and feel terrible. Anyway - he was quick and attentive and very sweet to us. The sushi came out quick and was neatly presented on a big rectangular plate. Their Dragon roll is yum ... it's hard to mess that one up but I love it (Eel and avocado basically). I can't remember which roll it was but there was crab on top of it ... that one is to die for. I can't wait to go back and get that crab topped delight and try other rolls. Hibachi Master is very easy to miss, but it's definitely worth stopping by. Fiance and I stopped by here for lunch on a Sunday. We got half-priced sushi, and it was totally worth. We had the chicken tempura appetizer, a Sunday morning roll, spicy salmon roll, and two spicy tuna rolls for about 30 bucks. They are very generous with the fish, and I particularly like their fish to rice proportions. Service was on-point, quick, and very friendly. I liked it even more that it seemed to be a family business; they had three young girls playing and eating lunch there. Found a good sushi spot in Anderson Township (which unfortunately, doesn't seem to have THAT much diversity when it comes to food proportions). I'm hoping to try to sashimi there sometime; they have sashimi platters! Tl;dr good quick service, half-priced sushi perfect for Sunday brunch, and quality rolls. read more

Our favorite restaurant in the area. Every time we go out, we go here. That's not because we're boring people, it's because it's good. There's enough variety to keep Fergus happy and some good veggie sushi to keep me happy. There's some kind of squash thing that I like here. Also, my mom really likes it. One time she ordered the wrong kind of noodles and was about to throw a fit. That's my mom. The worker was so nice and brought the kind of noodles she meant to order. Listen, that was very nice. The sushi was great, but they pulled a quick one on us and we ended up paying double what we expected. I will never go back. Their website advertises "half price sushi Thursday and Sunday *dine in only." Fine and dandy, except we went at 4 pm on New Years Eve. Although it was dead, they weren't doing half price sushi because of the holiday. The only problem is that they never mentioned it once and it wasn't listed as an exclusion anywhere on their website. When I asked to talk to the manager (after I paid) the sever told me he was the manager and took a measly $10 off of our $62 bill. Bad business all around. I don't expect anything for free or cheap, but honor what you advertise. read more

Best Feature: WONDERFUL service, fantastic food, amazing interior! Worst Feature: I don't always have the money to eat out here. This is hands down one of the best sushi and hibachi restaurants in the city, at least for me. I've been coming to this restaurant for a few years now, and I love what they are doing to their business! It was recently renovated and according to the owner, further plans are in the works; the interior of this location is amazing! They have plenty of seating, so it would be unlikely that you'd have to wait for a seat. You walk in and they have a hibachi bar, where you can eat and watch them make the food. They also have a sushi bar as well, and the usual booths and tables for patrons to choose from. Recently they started having daily specials on various sushi rolls, which is absolutely great! Their prices for sushi are pretty average - I like that they have rolls varying from about $3-4 and then more extensive rolls for around $10-12. The pricier sushi obviously has more and they include more, but it's nice when you're in the mood for good sushi to only have to shell out a few bucks. They have a fabulous menu - appetizers, hibachi meals, sushi meals, and more! Recently I found they included a combo meal special where you can choose from around 10 different meals that combine different sushi rolls for a total of about 15 pieces of sushi. This also includes their soup and salad, so it makes for a great meal for around $13-15. I also love their hibachi meals. You can choose from chicken, shrimp, and steak and also combinations of the three. Their soup and salad is marvelous - they use a ginger dressing (you can also find ginger dressing @ grocery stores! Didn't know that until recently!) which is delicious and soup. The service here is always amazing - not only do the waiters/waitresses get to know you if you're a decently regular visitor, but the owners have known me for some time now. I even took a 6-8 month break from eating out to save funds, and they still knew me upon return! And it only took about 3 visits before they knew my name and gave me a wonderful greeting. I will always return here because they are great about giving you a personal experience and making sure that you're always enjoying the meal. The servers are attentive and fantastic; the food is AMAZING, and the prices are great as well! I love what they've been doing to the place - it was great as it was, but the recent remodeling made it even more inviting! I almost forgot to mention - they are often open until 10-11 p.m. most weekdays/weekends, so keep that in mind if you're in the mood for late night sushi! Definitely stop here if you're in the area! Let me start off by saying, if I didn't HAVE to give this rating one star, I wouldn't. My husband and I were craving sushi so we thought we'd try out Hibachi Master for half price sushi (Sunday) since it's closer to our house than our normal half price sushi place (Ichiban). When we walked in, there was a sign saying if it's your birthday you get a free meal up to $25. My husbands birthday was yesterday so we thought we'd ask to see if he could still get the deal, but if not it's no biggy since that's not why we went there anyway. When you walk in, there is no sign that tells you to seat yourself or wait, so we waited. There was a fairly big party waiting. There seemed to be quite a few staff members, and it didn't really seem that busy, but the employees were either scrambling around or standing there doing absolutely nothing. After about 7 minutes of literally just standing there, I walked up to one of the employees doing nothing and asked if we wait to be seated or seat ourselves. I got a very short "wait" from her. So again we waited, and it took another 5+ minutes for someone to seat us, even though multiple employees made eye contact with us. When she seated us, we asked about the birthday thing. She must not have spoken English because she didn't say a thing, then grabbed another employee and pointed at us. I asked her if the offer is good for the day after birthdays too (again, not expecting it, but figured it was worth asking). This woman literally rolled her eyes at us and said "uh, if you show me your ID." My husband handed her his ID, she looked at it, again rolled her eyes and said "fine." She then took our drink order. We waited another 10 minutes. We never received our drinks, we saw the waitress that took our drink order waiting on other tables then just standing behind the counter. We saw other tables who sat down after us get their drinks and have their orders taken before us. Neither of us could believe service could be that terrible, but it was. Well, at least the service was good? I am really a sushi fan but since the name of the place is Hibachi Master i figured "when in Rome".... So I got the Steak, Chicken and Scallop dinner. The scallops were small but not terrible, the steak was tasty but tough but the chicken was flavorless and dry. The veggies were tasty though. But the dipping sauce provided was a nasty russian dressing type thing. Bleh. The salad was also very so-so. The dressing was watery, and the lettuce a little old. I did like the miso soup, but really, how hard is that? I have read some of the other reviews and I am wondering: Is there another location? This place looked like a gutted Denny's. I haven't tried their hibachi. But their sushi is great! And compared to a lot of other places, it's cheaper. The rolls look a little smaller but honestly I think you get more fish and stuff in them than other places. The other places use a lot more rice to make theirs bigger. They have half price sushi Tuesday Wednesday Thursday and Sunday. They have great prices for happy hour too! Great spot. Hard to find first time going. read more

I'm a huge sucker for hibachi grills. I've been to these types of places more times than I can count, but I still grin like a little kid when they light up the onion volcano. Downtown Cincinnati used to have a pretty good Japanese steakhouse in Benihana's. Unfortunately, they've since closed and I was left scouring Yelp to find another option. The best reviewed one seemed to be Hibachi Master. The four of us hopped in the car and drove 20 minutes from downtown to Beechmont. The restaurant is split into two sections. Sushi and normal entrees are served in the room on the left that you immediately come into. The hibachi grills are in a sideroom off to your right. The chef at our table was pretty good. He didn't go all out with his presentation, but it was enjoyable nonetheless. I didn't appreciate his determination to slingshot food into his patron's mouths. It might be fun for a 12 year old kid, but it's not as sensible when the bill-paying adult is wearing a button down shirt and has to worry about grease stains from your poorly-aimed, flying veggies. FWIW, the food was enjoyable. To be honest, none of these places ever really stick out to me. They don't use particularly good cuts of meat, but that's not why you go there. You go for the experience and the chance to see your food being cooked with some flair. This place fits the bill with that criteria. My only recommendation is to skip the flying food part of the meal. read more

Yuck. We were quite unimpressed. Many MANY issues. First, the a/c must be broken because we were all sweating most of the meal. Then the advertised half price sushi was denied. They said it is only available if you sit at certain tables and ours didn't qualify. Then our waitress was clueless and a bit rude. We had empty drinks most of the time. We had to ask for things at least three times. The food itself wasn't bad. But the sauces (which make Hibachi meals great--white sauce and ginger sauce) were Not good. The ginger sauce which is usually pretty thick was the consistency of water. And the flavor was watered down too. The white sauce was more like plain mayo than the normal shrimp sauce. All of the salads were served with about 1/4 cup of water in the bowl. And they only have one dressing--ginger. That's fine since we usually prefer ginger dressing. But as mentioned, their sauces are not good. Also, portions seemed much smaller than normal. The only good thing was the cook himself. He was fun and good at his job. read more

Extensive menu lists of a variety of Japanese style seafood dishes, some offerings here are hard to find elsewhere. Service was good and sushi master's craft is excellent. The Hibachi Master spider roll was probably the best I've had, big, warm, textured, and best of all, crunchy, not at all soggy. Worth checking out at least once if you don't live close by. That location hasn't always had the best of luck, I hope they'll be able to change that though. This was my first experience to a Hibachi restaurant, especially Teppanyaki style (cooked in front of you). Overall it was a decent experience, I was there with 8 people and we were entertained by the Chef during his time with us. Food was good, but the portions of meat were a little smaller for the price. We did have a little bit of a wait, even with a reservation, while they cleaned off an area. Everyone was polite and you could tell that other tables were having fun as well. Would definitely recommend Hibachi Master for a birthday or other event. I loved this place for a long time but after my last experience, I'll never go back. The service, or lack of, is appalling. My daughter planned a dinner party at this restaurant for over a month with 32 guests. She called numerous times, had the tables reserved, invites out. Called a few days before and asked if she could come 5 or 10 minutes early to decorate the tables for her birthday. They said that would be fine. The reservation was for 7:00, she got there at 6:45. Upon her arrival all the Hibachi tables were full. Some were in the middle of eating some the chef had just started taking orders. When questioned the staff just replied with "we can't seat you right now. My daughter all her friends and family waited for a time with no changes. Finally, thank you to Sizzling Wok we all went over there. At 7:30 Hibachi Master calls my daughter and offers to seat her. I am so disappointed in this restaurant, I will never go back, I will not spend my money at a place with such poor service. They ruined the night!!! read more

The portions have gotten smaller with more rice and less vegetables and meat. I'm not a fan of their soup or salad, but my family loves it.
