We went there for dinner on boxing day and there were like 2 more tables - no rush. We thought it would be easy dinner. They took our order and instead of vegetarian gyoza, served beef steak gyoza EVEN AFTER reminding of food preferences. The chef (Ava) was repeatedly defending serving beef gyoza putting blame on everyone else but the chef/kitchen. The server and chef were extremely rude when we asked how beef food was served when we explicitly said and asked for vegetarian food. Hibachi offers a fun dining experience, with interactive cooking in front of you. There are two grills positioned as a square, so you get to see the other cook as well. They cook one at a time. The food is plenty and the sauces are tasty, had the scallops, lobster, steak and chicken with veggies and rice. The rice had a charred taste which was great and came from the fire display. They accommodate the way you wish your steak to be cooked. For example, our table was from medium rare to medium well. They also accommodated someone who did not want any butter on their food. Steak was juicy and everything was tasty and plentiful. It came with two savoury sauces. Appetizers were soup, make - a surprising fried sweet potato and salad with again, tasty sesame dressing. Dessert was mango ice cream and they served a very tasty chocolate coffee martini. This place is timed, you can't just sit around after the meal. So go there for the plentiful food and entertaining cooking show. Lots of parking. Very clean. read more

Usually it's our place to go for a fun dinner!!! Tonight was nothing close to fun. i went with my 2 teenagers. We were almost done with our main course and the manager came over and asked if we were done, I said we will finish our plates and my boys would love dessert. Me and my wife wanted to enjoy some authentic teppanyaki so we found a wagjag deal and decided to try this Hibachi restaurant. The night started poorly when the waitress said she wasn't sure what menu items were gluten free to accommodate my wife and that she didnt want to ask the kitchen because they don't know either. We asked if we could substitute any items and pay an extra charge but she said no you get what every you get with the deal. The deal came with sushi rolls and the waitress said all we could have was the sweet potato rolls so I begged her to change it to the avocado and cucumber...after going back to the kitchen she said she will accommodate us just this ONE time only. The chef that was cooking was really bad and did not adhere to basic food safety by using not only cooking raw meat and seafood on the same grill with vegetables and rice but ALSO using the same spatula to cook all the items at the the same time! Disgusting! None of the chefs were Japanese they did not use traditional japanese cooking style as they kept adding tons of oil and butter to the vegetables and rice instead of water and steaming them with a lid. The seafood was undercooked, the vegetables were saturated in oil and the miso soup was cold. It was my 24th wedding anniversary and ruined our night that was supposed to be a good memory. Our family have been enjoying Hibachi in Burlington for over a decade and probably were one of their first customers. Although the last few years we have been disappointed with the show that is not the way it used to be and considerably diminished in time since the restaurant first opened, we continued visiting the restaurant several times a year, especially for special occasions. We had made plan to celebrate our son-in-law's birthday yesterday but as he and family live an hour away and the roads in their area had not been cleared up unfortunately, we had to postpone our family dinner celebration. One of our daughters who lives close-by mentioned that our granddaughter was disappointed our dinner had been postponed as she had been so looking forward to it as she always enjoys going to the "restaurant with fire" as she calls it, so last minute we decided to go anyway with only four of us. After our last meal at Hibachi about a month ago and being disappointed with the surf and turf meal being overcooked and lobster being so dry and tasteless my husband opted to order the salmon this time around. We had some appetizers to start with and after eating all the side dishes my husband could not finish eating all the fish on his plate. The restaurant was busy for family day and our plates stayed in front of us for quite some time before they came around to take the dishes away. Suddenly we were in shock and in disbelief to see a bug crawling out of the leftover salmon from my husband plate. It looked like a brownish worm but also looked like a small silver fish moving around, we just could not believe our eyes as the bug was wiggling with struggles to crawl out of the leftover fish. My husband didn't want me to make a big scene in front of the other two families sitting at our table to not ruin their meals, so I took his plate to the front cash register where two employees look at it and saw clearly the wormy thing was alive and moving around. When our waiter eventually came back to our table to ask if anyone wanted boxes for their leftovers and taking orders for dessert, tea, coffee, etc., all we wanted is our bill and get out of there as fast as possible. After waiting about 10 minutes we decided to leave the table and requested our bill at the cash register. We do acknowledge that the staff certainly did not deliberately served us with contaminated food but we had hopes that possibly they would have been kind enough as a courtesy to exclude the salmon dish from our bill but all charges were on the bill which we paid close to $300 after leaving a good tip as we felt that it was not the server or chef cooking at our table's fault. Really all we were hoping was an apology or perhaps thanking us to have had brought this matter to their attention so they can thoroughly inspect their fish, container and prep area to avoid serving the same to other customers. Our server was the person at the cash to process our bill and after payment I politely mentioned about our gross experience just in case he had not been made aware and he simply said oh was that you who had a bug on your plate and casually said I can request to have another salmon cooked for you to take home if you want. Wow really?? We certainly did not bring this matter to get a free take-out food with parasite. It was so insulting to hear that comment that to think we would even consider a free contaminated meal when all we wanted is to make them aware of the unacceptable disgusting situation and hoping they would take this very seriously to make sure to inspect their fish, kitchen and food prep area to avoid serving the same to others if they want to stay in business. My only regret is I wish I had taken photos and video of the parasite crawling out of the salmon. We wondered why a worm or a small silver fish would be still alive after cooking but obviously it did survive somehow after the food cooled down and we feel it's warranted to make people aware of our disgusting experience. We are also still wondering if my husband did not ingest some dead bugs without knowing it but fortunately, he did not get sick overnight. Still giving two stars as my food and daughter's food was good but certainly after this experience really left a bad taste in our mouth. The kitchen definitely needs health inspection and for us this was our last time to this Hibachi location and will never return again! Never judge a book by it's cover comes in to play with the new Hibachi location! My first impressions of this place when I noticed it was that it looked kind of... inauthentic? Suburban? Chain-y? I'm not quite sure, but the outside certainly doesn't do it justice. Once inside I found an elegantly designed restaurant with stainless steel, leather, and fancy wall treatments. Definitely not what I was expecting! There are 6-7 teppanyaki tables here, with room for 8(ish) guests each. I did notice some bar seating, but not a lot - and really why would you come to a teppanyaki restaurant if you didn't want the teppanyaki! The menu has 13 options, and each come with green salad, miso soup and steamed rice, which can be upgraded to two other soup choices (hot & sour and wonton) and vegetable or chicken fried rice. We both upgraded to vegetables fried rice and wonton soup, and I had the filet (because that's what you should ALWAYS get at teppanyaki places) while my fiance had the steak/chicken combo. Spoiler alert, mine was better. We also shared the chicken karage appetizer. While the appetizer was super mediocre and I wouldn't order it again (think skinny dry chicken strips), the rest of the food was pretty good! The soup and salad were on par, the fried rice decent (but not fabulous) and the veggies were good (except for the mushrooms, because I hate mushrooms...), and my steak was UNREAL!!! I think the main reason I like filet from teppanyaki so much is that I can ensure that it's going to be as rare as I want it to be (SO RARE), and so it's melt in your mouth delicious. As for the show, it was on par with others I have seen, and maybe even a bit better. They turned off the lights at our station and had a little fire show at the end - another table across from us had our chef, and I noticed that they had a bit of a different show, so good to know there is variety. Overall I thought the service was great (especially the cook), the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was spot on. I hope that people look past the exterior and give this place a try, because I really like having delicious steak walking distance from my house. Really. Like it. I was there for a birthday party of kid, and this was our first experience with teppanyaki . The restaurant is located midtown. I reserved the table through Google reservations, this was again a first try and I should say it's very straight forward and an option to change your schedule which I thought was amazing without calling the restaurant. Coming to the food, it tasted really good, my family tried their deluxe combo, seafood combo and of course the Tofu set (I'm vegetarian and it feels amazing, I still crave for meat occasionally) ,, The food tasted good, their portions are of right size to us. The Teppanyaki show by the chef was not that impressive. I would not blame it on the Chef since we realized that the intensity depends on the dinners enthusiasm and the way they show their accolades. Some in our party (3) had severe seafood allergy so they asked for a substitute. I had looked on the website and noted the lobster tail was $16 and the Filet was $14, so I asked for them to substitute the lobster tail for that, everyone was ok with the switch (even when I had called and asked before I bought the Groupon)... until we actually sat down, then they did not give an option and announced they would only get steak and chicken at the 'same amount' (Very dishonest move)... LOBSTER TAIL? HA HA HA... You mean 6 bite size pieces of lobster, they shared 1 small 6oz lobster tail between 3 people ( 2 others were there with a groupon as well), I received 2 scallops, the size of a quarter & dime and three shrimp, the size of a loonie... And he always gave the left over to this one girl which was annoying... The food was okay, not much flavor. While we were not impressed, we were directed to the bar where we ordered a drink. The strawberry daiquiris were ok, nothing crazy. They were made with pre-made mix and then had the alcohol added in. We did get a little umbrella in our glass though, so that was cute! The meal was prix-fixe. Since I have a shrimp allergy they substituted with no issue. Very much appreciated! They also cooked all of my meat first so that there would be no cross contamination. I appreciate the effort the staff went to making sure that I didn't have an allergic reaction. It was overall a pretty good experience. I have been to a few teppenyaki places and it is one of the better ones I have been to in terms of value and quality of the food. (Though truth be told value was really good and could be considered 4 star if groupon price was normal price). The chefs there do a couple of tricks including juggling of tools and use of flames to create a relatively enjoyable experience. Has it been the best teppenyaki place I've been to in terms of quality of food no, but overall service and interior was well designed and food was enjoyable and cooked well. Great experience. Came here with a Groupon promotion for a Hibachi experience and for a great price. We got a seven course tasting menu for four and there was plenty of food. If you've never been to one of these restaurants for lunch or dinner you should give it a try, basically the chef cooks your food right in front of you on a hot table performing some tricks as he's cooking. Very fun and entertaining when you go with a bunch of people or even if you have younger children they would have a blast. Our menu came with chicken, beef, shrimp, and lobster for protein, there is also vegetable fried rice, miso soup, house garden salad, grilled mix vegetables, sushi roll (chef's choice) and ice cream at the end. Service is excellent here we had reservations for 7:00 pm but we arrived early and the hostess offered to seat us at a table right away if we wanted but we opted for the bar while waiting for the rest of the group. They offer a wide variety of drinks to keep your whistle wet and prices are great. I bought the groupon for the Burlington location however the Burlington location is currently being renovated so I was able to use the Groupon for the Oakville location on Cross Avenue. The groupon deal for $70 you get a 7 course dinner for 2 what a great deal! You get Miso soup, a salad and California rolls to share. We ordered an extra appetizer tempura shrimps. Then for the main you get vegetables friend rice, grilled vegetables, chicken , steak, shrimps and lobster tail. For dessert you get a choice of ice cream flavour. Our chef did a lot of fun tricks at the teppanyaki table, very entertaining. The food was delicious. Also my boyfriend and I were starving! I found the portion was small but you get a taste of everything. I found Beni Hana inside the Fairmont Royal York Hotel gave bigger portion but that Groupon deal was $99 for 2 people. All in all food was tasty and flavourful. The service I have to give a 5 star! Our waitress was fast and friendly. The set menu there's no substitute but when I told her I didn't like raw sushi she made an exception and substituted rolls for California rolls. Put simply, this restaurant is a step below places like Benihana. All the usual items are here: the showmanship by the cooks, the ginger sauce and dressing, etc. What is missing is that the quality of food is just not as good as it should be for the prices they are charging. The shrimp should be sliced into multiple pieces, as other similar places do it. It is easier to dip and eat this way. The steak is too thin. The undercooked vegetables consisted of broccoli(?), a strange choice, and way too many onions. The chicken, however, was quite good. If you're looking for a Benihana style type place then this restaurant will likely satisfy you but the overall experience is lacking something. read more

My boyfriend and I booked this as soon as reservations for Winterlicious opened up. We went here on the first day of Winterlicious and wow! It was such an amazing way to kick it off. Right away we were greeted by our server who gave us the Winterlicious menu but told us we could also order from their regular menu. The only thing we ordered aside from the Winterlicious menu was our drinks. I got a sex on the beach and it was delicious! Everyone taking part in the Winterlicious menu got Japanese miso soup, mixed vegetables and steamed rice (although you also had the option to upgrade to grill fried rice which my boyfriend did for an extra $3). For the starter we both chose the California roll. The crab meat, cucumber, avocado & fish egg wrapped with seaweed & sushi rice was so fresh and delicious my boyfriend laughed when i did a little happy dance upon eating it. For the main we both chose the strip loin steak. I asked for mine well done and he got his medium rare. Mine came cooked to perfection which i was thrilled about. Every piece was tender and full of flavour. The show they put on while cooking everything was very entertaining! There was a part where the whole table had their phones out to record it! Definitely a memorable experience! what's even better was the food was delicious as well. As the show came to an end we were served our dessert. Food was terrible. I ordered seafood combo, the lobster was overcooked and rubbery. The shrimp was the only good part of the meal(which the chef made FIRST) by the time everything else was done the shrimp was cold. Shrimp should be last as it takes less time to cook. The veggie fried rice was hard. My partner ordered two pina colada's and wanted a third, they told him "no more pina colada's" as if they were free.... Smh. The chef didn't do many "tricks" since our grill wasn't working so he had to use the grill behind him where we couldn't see and made the experience even worse. We went there for my daughter's birthday with reservation and note about the birthday. Because the place is empty they didn't bother asking our reservation. I told them "we have a reservation for birthday". He seemed didn't care. There was no one in the entire place, except another family of 6 celebrating for birthday. Just tried out this place for dinner. Pretty good. Other Teppanyaki places we usually go to is Yang's in Vaughan and Prince and Iron Chef in Mississauga. This place is as good as Yang's but much better pricing. I like this place the same as Prince and more than Iron Chef in terms of food quality. Service: excellent, very attentive but allowed breathing room, the perfect balance. Atmosphere: typical Japanese/teppanyaki atmosphere, but the music tonight was a bit odd of a selection, very hip/hop type, didn't go well with the decor. Food: - we were charged for tea, one small pot of tea for 2 people, they charged us 6$...it's just tea, regular jasmine tea. Seriously, if you are competing with other teppanyaki, do NOT charge for tea. Asians people will hate you...the other teppanyaki places do not charge for tea, it should come with the meal! - we got the filet mignon/lobster/salmon/chicken deluxe combo. they were nice, let us swab the salmon for scallops at no extra charge. The food was delicious. Filet mignon was perfectly cooked to medium rare the way we like. Portion size was really big. We did the deluxe + sharing dinner and still had leftovers. The sharing dinner was a nice touch, for an extra 10$ you can share instead of paying for a separate meal, I haven't seen this at the other places. Yum! I was at Hibachi in Oakville with my family a month or so ago and we all loved the food. This is a pretty traditional teppanyaki set up with your choice of appetizers and protein to go with the veggies and your choice of white or fried rice. I had the shrimp and chicken combo and it was really delicious. I would argue that the vegetables were served a bit too early so I didn't have much left by the time my protein joined the party but that didn't stop me from polishing off my food. The two sauces (one creamy, meant for seafood; one soy based, meant for the chicken/steak) were delicious and kind of made the meal for me. Next time I will go with steak and shrimp as my dad and husband's beef looked very well cooked, nice medium rare. I would like to go back asap! read more

I went to this Hibachi place because I had a Groupon - they have Groupons available ALL the time, and they are a great deal. I got steak, chicken, lobster and shrimp, and it was all so delicious, but I have to admit, yum-yum sauce is my favorite thing (the seafood sauce). It's so yummy! At times they were not that prompt but were apologetic when that was the case. Obviously part of the appeal is the teppanyaki "show". Our chef was good natured and skilled with his little tricks but maybe a bit bored of the whole routine. I am sure it still beats working at Made in Japan in a food court lol. The food was pretty good for the most part. With the groupon it was a prix fixe menu. The starter courses were Japanese restaurant standards Green salad, miso soup, and some California rolls. These were all pretty low quality to be honest. I've had better salad and soup at much cheaper hole in the wall sushi joints. The California rolls were very weak. I've had better at grocery stores. The fried rice and vegetables were pretty good but really just filler. The highlight is the meat obviously. The steak was cooked perfect medium rare and the scallops and lobster were delicious. They give you more chicken than anything (which I could do without) but the still decent portions of the other items. I was stuffed by the end of the meal. I finished with green tea ice cream. Again pretty standard fare. Like others have mentioned the place is pricey but that is par for the course for teppanyaki. Including the groupon and a couple of drinks each it came to over $130 with tax and tip. It's worth checking out if you want the experience but I'll probably try a different teppanyaki place next time. read more

Service was not fast, food was kind of over priced for the selection of vegetables included. The only really amazing meat were the scallops. Very overpriced for a kind of fake Japanese half hearted teppanyaki show. Good place to go if you like fake Asian food. Nothing authentically Japanese about it. read more

Hello my fellow Yelpers ! So today's review is about Hibachi steak and seafood . Well my experience was pretty good i have to say ! We came here with a group of 12 today !! We had a fantastic host and waiter ! Great chef who cooked a fun meal for us ! I have been to a few other hibachi places in the states ,we're I must say the show might have been a little better as to entertainment......BUT this place was great ! Not as good but great non the less . Chef did a great job cooking and entertained to his ability . I had the seafood combo was pretty tasty . Few of my friends had the steak and they enjoyed it ! Definitely a great place to bring a date in the evening if you wanna get lucky or the family for a bday event or something .....all in all ...here's my break down . I went to Habachi steakhouse and bar for lunch in Oakville with friend as we noticed that they have a grand opening special 30 % off. The service is good and the decor is very cozy. I order a deluxe teppanyaki combo, which included 6 oz lobster tail, 6 oz aaa steak, salmon, and veggie. Also come with steam rice and miso soup. It costs $39. The food is good and we had a very good time too. Afterall, we have a 30% off on the bill. Perfect lunch. read more

Terrible, you order the 7 course tasting menu, you get 1/4 cup of salad, rice is over cooked and mushy. They say you get lobster, shrimp, scallops, chicken and steak. Guess what, the lobster is overcooked, rubbery and you only get 3 little pieces thankfully. The scallops are over cooked and 3 little pieces again, same with the shrimp. The chicken also over cooked and tough. Steak gets chopped up and is dry even if you order medium. Did not want the desert, just wanted to leave. Then they take a 15% gratuity which is not deserved and they don't take Debit or Visa Debit. Never again read more
