    Gaelic Club French Fries

My friend and I were grabbing drinks and decided to have dinner at Hibernian on a very cold Tuesday night. It's a good night to go as you can be seated right away. We sat in the bar area at a high booth and were waited on right away. We asked our server about what she recommended for the seasonal drinks as well as menu item suggestions, she was great! We both decided on cocktails from the seasonal menu, a martini and a sangria. We both decided on sandwiches. I had the Gaelic Club and it was really good and the fries were too. They make all their sauces in house and I wanted to drink the ranch. It's really spacious inside with lots of seating areas and a couple of bar areas as well. The whole place is dimly lit, it makes it cozy. There's even a fireplace in the front. I enjoyed my food and would go back to try other menu items.

The Hibernian is one of those places that I can reliably go to and get a really good meal at a really good price! I've never been disappointed eating at either of the locations. And the bonus of this location is there is a really cool speakeasy hidden behind a coat closet! Highly recommend checking that out!

I've been living in this area for over 20 years. If my experience last night is the norm, I have been missing a great deal. The fish was fried to perfection. The servers were friendly and very attentive to our needs. I had a pint of Shiner Buck (ok, I had three) and my wife had a couple of Blue Moon's. $3/pint of Shiner and $4 for BM We sat in the back on the restaurant outside. Overall a great experience.

This burger.. this BURGER... was the best THING that I have ever consumed in my LIFE. I don't mean to exaggerate at all, this was a life changing experience for me, I will never even look at another burger the same way again. Hanley burger. Double patty? Egg on it? Jalapeños? All of it. Service was unbeatable, and there's no better ambiance that a real Irish pub. Love this with all my heart.

Bangers and Mash with Guinness (!) with Irish coffee and salmon dish in the background.

Four of us stopped in for dinner last week. I had dropped in a Guinness a few times over the previous months, though never to eat. I've always liked the ambiance, and it was still the same, the nice friendly Irish vibe, warm and welcoming. Service was attentive and friendly with no issues. We all had different entrees, myself the Bangers and mash, seen on lots of Anglo Saxon(!) menus, but I have ignored for decades. It was surprisingly good! Just wonderfully prepared and the chef sent out English mustard on the side, as requested. Others ate a salmon entree (tasty) and the fish and chips were great too. The cod was perfectly fried, although the battery could be a little thinner, according to my wife. However a great experience overall. I have another group of friends from south of the border wanting to go there, and I shall not disappoint!

Sue and her staff at The Hibernian recently hosted the reception for our wedding. It was incredible!! Working with Sue during the wedding planning stage was stress free and so easy! She was incredibly accommodating and offered suggestions on food selections and the best layout for the private room to accommodate our 50 guests. We had the private room and half of the outdoor patio for the evening. It was PERFECT! The bar in the private room is accessible inside and out and there is a door to pass through the two spaces. There are even bathrooms in the private space. The food was amazing, and with the guidance of Sue and the kitchen manager Johnny, we ordered just the right amount of food to accommodate our guests buffet style. Sue and her staff even placed our favors, a cake table, and a few other wedding related items out for us so all we had to do on our wedding day was show up and enjoy the party. The Hibernian staff had us make our plates first to ensure that we were able to eat on our wedding day. That was such a nice touch! We 10 out of 10 highly recommend hosting any private event at The Hibernian! I'm telling everyone that a restaurant wedding reception is absolutely the way to go!! Traditional wedding venues often charge extra for chairs, plates, linens, silverware, the list goes on and on! At The Hibernian we only had to pay for food and drinks. Perfect!! Thank you Sue and staff for an absolutely perfect evening!!

The Hibernian Restaurant is a good choice for Irish food. The pub is decorated nicely. On my last visit, we were put in a section that looked like tables were made from old sewing machines. It was neat and I liked that the section was away from everyone else in the restaurant so it was almost a private area for us. They offer Sunday brunch or you can order from the regular menu. I went with the fish & chips and chose the cod over the haddock. It was very good and flaky and the steak fries were chewy inside with a bit of a crisp outside. The group was not provided menus for everyone so we had to share. They had plenty of menus so that was just odd. Service was ok here, friendly but just did the basics of bringing the drinks and food and bills. No drink refills or checking on the table.

Be careful.. lots on renovations going on in the parking lot AND at the front entrance. It was an awesome day in Carolina so we sat outside on the patio. Ordered the Monday "build your own burger" and the lunch hot wings both with fries. The wings were pretty good and the burger was prepared with lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, onions and bacon... with a side of blue cheese dressing to dip those steak fries in... It's definitely one the best spots for lunch - check out that $10 lunch menu. Would recommend.. might want to wait for the renovation completion though. Customer service was fair.

Reuben Sandwich with perfectly cooked, almost burn your mouth fries (in a good way).

I dropped by one afternoon to check out this new pub in North Raleigh and I was delighted to find…read morehow cozy it was and how hospitable and sweet the owners, Kevin and Stephanie, are. The decor in The Winchester Pub is unique in the fact that they don't have all the stereotypical, tacky beer signage that others have and the bar is completely handmade by Kevin himself (it's gorgeous). Their selection of beers on tap is primo -- you won't see any of the over-served blah beers of other bars. Instead, you'll find a finely curated selection that boasts a variety of tastes. If you're not into beer, there are also a few bottles of wine you can choose to have a glass of. There's a small selection of canned brews you can purchase from the display case in the front of the pub, back of the pub, and in the refrigerated unit in the rear, as well as cider, spiked coffee malt beverages, alcoholic seltzers, and beer kegs. Surprisingly, there's even some bagged coffee! If you fancy bringing some pub merch home, there are branded mugs for sale. Above the bar, there are mounted TV screens, perfect for enjoying local sports games (especially European soccer matches on the weekends). Plenty of backed barstools surround the bar, and there's a line of round, leather-topped stools along the back wall. If stools aren't your cup of tea, there are two cozy leather couches you can lounge on: one in the front (by the entrance) and one in the back (next to a pool table)! If you're not craving any booze, there's a water cooler in the front of the pub and canned sodas in the fridge (Sprite and Coke). If you're feeling playful, there are couple of board games on the one of the beer display shelves by the entrance (beneath the framed red jersey). I'm more of a cider kind of girl, so Kevin suggested a fantastic, locally-owned cider out of Pittsboro, NC: "Chatham Cider Works Highway 64". It was sweet, light, bubbly, and strong, especially at 10% ABV (so, watch out!). My husband and I both sampled the "Fullsteam Igor Cake" Pastry Stout (9% ABV), which was super sweet. Hubby ended up ordering the "Casita Home Sweet Home" Imperial Stout (10% ABV), which had a cake-like flavor, was super smooth, and not too sweet. No foods are currently served here, but there are some snacks for sale behind the bar and you are more than welcome to bring in your own noms to accompany any drinks your order. From the cooler, I bought and tried: - Brown Bomber Mocha Hard Latte - flavored malt beverage (5% ABV) made with 100% Arabica coffee and milk. It's recommended to shake well and serve over ice. It was soooo creamy, chocolatey, and delicious -- you can't even tell that there is alcohol in it! - Brown Bomber Vanilla Hard Latte - same as the previous, but vanilla-flavored - Sound Craft Rosé Seltzer (5% ABV) - super smooth and tasting of freshly pressed blackberries, I could not tell that there was alcohol in it! If you're looking for a cozy spot to throw back a pint as you unwind from work, you've found the perfect place!

Despite arriving over an hour before the match started, every seat at the bar was already taken. And there are no tables so if you aren't fortunate enough to get a bar seat, you're SOL. I saw one or two bar patrons eyeing me weirdly, like I was invading their home space. So I decided to just leave. Per the online menu, they do have over a dozen drafts available, but I didn't get to try any of them. So disappointing.
