Arrived to this popular pub restaurant in North Raleigh after work on a Friday and while parking is free it can be tight. We were greeted and seated right away. They do have patio seating but we chose to sit in a high top room with a tv and plenty of light. Most of the pub is dark and moody with fun decor suited for classic pub vibes. We put in our drink orders which came promptly. Guinness Beer paired well with the Fish and Chips and I loved my Dublin Mule cocktail. For Appetizer, the mussels were plenty to share but salty for my taste. We had the Reuben which was very yummy, Philly egg rolls which were bland but good with the queso dip, fish and chips were soft and fluffy on the inside but fried too crispy on the outside for my taste, fries were good and the honey mustard was AMAZING! It was clearly made in-house, as well as the tartar sauce. House made sauces are always a plus. We had two drinks called Victoria secret and key lime pie. The key lime pie was chefs kiss and VS was good. We finished our dinner off with a yummy dessert called sticky toffee cake and it was delicious. The service was not that good. I waitress seemed tired and like she was forced to be friendly. They sat us in the back, then we moved a few times until we had a good seat. First table was a bar top and we were there for dinner, second table one of the benches was broke. The restaurant is too dark but the decor seems vintage and like it may have been really nice at one time. The outside is very pretty. There is a speakeasy in the back that was really nice and the Bartender Sam was so friendly and welcoming. I will be back to visit the speakeasy for sure. read more

My friend and I were grabbing drinks and decided to have dinner at Hibernian on a very cold Tuesday night. It's a good night to go as you can be seated right away. We sat in the bar area at a high booth and were waited on right away. We asked our server about what she recommended for the seasonal drinks as well as menu item suggestions, she was great! We both decided on cocktails from the seasonal menu, a martini and a sangria. We both decided on sandwiches. I had the Gaelic Club and it was really good and the fries were too. They make all their sauces in house and I wanted to drink the ranch. It's really spacious inside with lots of seating areas and a couple of bar areas as well. The whole place is dimly lit, it makes it cozy. There's even a fireplace in the front. I enjoyed my food and would go back to try other menu items. read more

The Hibernian is one of those places that I can reliably go to and get a really good meal at a really good price! I've never been disappointed eating at either of the locations. And the bonus of this location is there is a really cool speakeasy hidden behind a coat closet! Highly recommend checking that out! read more

Food was typical bar food not much to write home about. Overall atmosphere was nice and eclectic. Definitely felt like a walk backwards in time. Definitely worth a visit. While having lunch one of the staff probably a manager (taller heavier set guy) kept walking in the room and his tone of voice was so loud ,as if yelling. He kept making my guests and me on edge. I stopped by for lunch while traveling and had 8 buffalo wings and two orders of fries--everything was pretty solid. The wings were just the right size--not too big or too small--and cooked perfectly with great flavor. The fries were tasty too; I just wish the portion was a little bigger. Luckily, I ordered two and that did the trick. I didn't get any photos since I ran out of data, but the food was worth the stop. The inside of the place has a lot going on--it's huge and definitely feels like a popular spot to watch sports. I'd come back if I'm ever in the area again. Dishonest and shady. Our family was excited to watch the GAA finals in Raleigh (we're from out of town). Called the Hibernian *twice* during the week prior, even made reservations specifically to see the game. The manager assured us both times that the game would be airing. When we got there, no one had any idea what we were talking about, and the waitstaff gave us an attitude when we explained it's on a special streaming channel. Four of us stopped in for dinner last week. I had dropped in a Guinness a few times over the previous months, though never to eat. I've always liked the ambiance, and it was still the same, the nice friendly Irish vibe, warm and welcoming. Service was attentive and friendly with no issues. We all had different entrees, myself the Bangers and mash, seen on lots of Anglo Saxon(!) menus, but I have ignored for decades. It was surprisingly good! Just wonderfully prepared and the chef sent out English mustard on the side, as requested. Others ate a salmon entree (tasty) and the fish and chips were great too. The cod was perfectly fried, although the battery could be a little thinner, according to my wife. However a great experience overall. Hibernian Irish Pub & Restaurant at 8021 Falls of Neuse Rd in Raleigh was a great first-time experience for us. While we're no strangers to the local Irish pub scene, this spot quickly became a favorite. From the moment we walked in, the energy was warm and welcoming. The staff was professional, friendly, and clearly loved what they do. Our servers, Rob and Jordan, were outstanding. Attentive, engaging, and full of personality. They made sure our experience was the best. The food is solid. The spicy chicken sandwich packed a nice kick, and the house pub burger with hearty steak fries hit the spot. We finished with the Guinness mousse, which was supreme. Their Super Bowl party on the horizon and what's sure to be an epic St. Patrick's Day celebration, we'll definitely be back to Hibernian. I like the atmosphere, with several hidden spaces, and two small bars kind of hidden away. It's almost like a maze. The ordered a half and half beer, though there seemed to be a good deal more Guinness than Harp lager. For my dinner, I tried the corned beef and cabbage. The beef was tender enough, it had a good amount of the creamy parsley sauce, which I mixed into the mashed potatoes. With the potatoes, they were ok flavor wise, but a little cool in temperature. The braised cabbage, eh, could take it or leave it. My favorite part was the feel of the restaurant, I'd go in for a beer if I'm in the area, but that's about it. read more

As an FYI, we got the food to go. I ordered the Rachel, but got the Reuben. I think had I eaten it there, it would have been okay. Daughter got the club, and said it was okay. Granddaughter got the shrimp appetizer and said it was very good. Kids meal, mac & cheese, runny. The fires were apparently good. Onion rings are huge, but very, very greasy. Been to the downtown location many times. Always a good pour of Guinness and decent food. But this location? Utterly terrible. Was seated and waited five minutes just staring at our menu - two of us - but were only given one menu. After five minutes & no one came to at least take a drink order. OK maybe they're busy but why has that ginger server not even greeted us? Ten minutes. The ginger server who has all the other five tables in our section didn't even look in our direction once. She knew we were there but didn't even have the sense to ask us if we needed anything. Then hostess comes by after seating someone else and I flag her down and tell her it's been ten minutes and no one has come to our table yet. She scurries off and a server we've never seen before tells us she has 7 tables and scurries off as well. Over fifteen minutes and still no one has even come to ask us if we'd like a drink. So we just got up and walked out. Niall, any publican in Mayo or anywhere else in Ireland would be horrified. Irish pub in name only. You've lost your way and become too big for your britches. And your manager should be fired for not having sufficient staff on duty if the place is that busy. Justin at your downtown location basically runs a one man band on Monday nights and manages to provide top notch service all by himself. Put him in charge of this location I'm sure he could make the service better. But as it is run now? You and your manager there should both be ashamed. read more

Sue and her staff at The Hibernian recently hosted the reception for our wedding. It was incredible!! Working with Sue during the wedding planning stage was stress free and so easy! She was incredibly accommodating and offered suggestions on food selections and the best layout for the private room to accommodate our 50 guests. We had the private room and half of the outdoor patio for the evening. It was PERFECT! The bar in the private room is accessible inside and out and there is a door to pass through the two spaces. There are even bathrooms in the private space. The food was amazing, and with the guidance of Sue and the kitchen manager Johnny, we ordered just the right amount of food to accommodate our guests buffet style. Sue and her staff even placed our favors, a cake table, and a few other wedding related items out for us so all we had to do on our wedding day was show up and enjoy the party. The Hibernian staff had us make our plates first to ensure that we were able to eat on our wedding day. That was such a nice touch! We 10 out of 10 highly recommend hosting any private event at The Hibernian! I'm telling everyone that a restaurant wedding reception is absolutely the way to go!! Traditional wedding venues often charge extra for chairs, plates, linens, silverware, the list goes on and on! At The Hibernian we only had to pay for food and drinks. Perfect!! The interior is a bit of a labyrinth but I enjoyed that. A lot of private feeling spaces. Service was fine but the food was mediocre at best. Just bland and forgettable. The tchotchkes are cute but it's clear they don't clean these very often as the cobwebs grossed me out a little while I was eating. The Hibernian Restaurant is a good choice for Irish food. The pub is decorated nicely. On my last visit, we were put in a section that looked like tables were made from old sewing machines. It was neat and I liked that the section was away from everyone else in the restaurant so it was almost a private area for us. They offer Sunday brunch or you can order from the regular menu. I went with the fish & chips and chose the cod over the haddock. It was very good and flaky and the steak fries were chewy inside with a bit of a crisp outside. The group was not provided menus for everyone so we had to share. They had plenty of menus so that was just odd. Service was ok here, friendly but just did the basics of bringing the drinks and food and bills. No drink refills or checking on the table. read more

First time visiting after driving by it for years. Wanted something new and found it underwhelming and the staff blasé. Hostesses had smiles upon entering so they did what they needed to do. Our server was nice, but he wasn't very attentive. He had no idea we are exceptional tippers when the service is great. Ordered entrees on the menu that seemed generic enough to compare with other restaurants. Salmon was dry, cool and flavorless with cold butter and a lemon slice on top. Broccoli was supposed to be steamed but was practically still raw. Mashed potatoes were definitely from a box. It was edible for sure, but not something I will order again. Drink selection was decent though. So would I return? Maybe. Not sold on it though. read more

Went there relatively recently on a Thursday. The beer was good, the food not so much. The salads were pretty good, and two of us a fish and chips, which were good: the chips excellent, the fish (cod) well prepared, but could have used a bit more seasoning. My corned beef and cabbage are main reason for the 2 star rating: very fatty, stringy corned beef, cold mashed potatoes, a sauce that is just plain embarrassing and should not have been served, a portion of cabbage that was absurdly small. My meal one star. Needless to say, they won't see us again for quite some time. read more

Ordered the Monday "build your own burger" and the lunch hot wings both with fries. The wings were pretty good and the burger was prepared with lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, onions and bacon... with a side of blue cheese dressing to dip those steak fries in... I met a friend for lunch the other day and we had a delicious meal. I had the Reuben with fries. It came out piping hot, the bread was toasted to perfection, the ratio of corned beef to sauerkraut was spot on and the amount of Russian dressing on the side was perfect. The taste was great. Aldo the fries were cooked to perfection. Lastly my Bloody Mary was the right amount of spicy and the olives were huge. Great meal, great service, great eclectic atmosphere. read more

I love this bar so much. My friends and I go often since it's located near us and it always has such a great atmosphere and is very cozy to me. I like that it's not crazy and packed- or at least I haven't been on a packed night yet. It's dark inside with light at the bar area and a great vibe. It's super clean and organized too. It's also quite big. There's an area with different board games that you can pull out and play with your friends which I thought was really cool. The food, staff, and drinks is also phenomenal! The staff is always so attentive, super friendly, and easy to talk to. The food is perfect and the kitchen is open late and their menu has a lot to offer so who doesn't good food after a late night of drinking. Definitely recommend this place whether you're here with your partner, friends, or just drinking alone. read more

Wednesday night date, this was our first time inside the restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised of the layout and space of the place, kind of unique in my opinion. It gives an old school bar feel with high top tables. We ordered Keylime Pie Tini which was great! The Victoria Secret was good as well! We were "bar hopping "tonight and I'm glad we finally stopped in. We also had the Philly egg rolls. Came out fresh and hot, the dipping sauce was the cheese. In an area where there are very, very few options for late night dining, this is a standout. The kitchen is open until 1:30 AM. Its a nice looking place, with several cozy rooms and several bars. Our server did a great job, and we were very happy with the food. We started with wings, very good. For mains, we had fish and chips and the Reuben. Both served hot, clearly cooked to order, good ingredients, very tasty. We will definitely be back. read more

Over the last two years I have been setting up luncheons for groups of ladies and gentlemen who are seniors. We have on several occasions used Hibernian on Falls of Neuse for this purpose. I have found wait staff to be very friendly and corporative. I have found Edwin the manager to be one who goes one or two steps beyond to make sure my group is accommodated in comfort. Their back room is perfect for a large group event and Burger Monday ($6.00 burger) is a favorite with budget conscience diners. read more

Hamburger Mondays are still a good deal for $6. However, I think something in the kitchen has changed in the past few weeks. I am a regular here and often give in to my cravings for a great burger. However, the last 2 times I ve been here the burgers, and buns, are dry and lack flavor. Tonight my son had Fish and Chips. Overcooked and looked like a rolled up fish rather than a succulent filet. Trying to watch my svelte figure I ordered the black bean burger (apparently they're made in house) and a side salad. The salad came out first and was your typical salad. The burger was pretty good! It was a giant patty and you could see the veggies that they'd mixed in with the black beans, so a good sign. I'd added grilled onions, tomato and lettuce to mine and got BBQ sauce on the side. For the drinks, they had $3 Yuengling and seasonal Sam Adams. The parking lot was full so I suggest getting a reservation on Monday nights. read more

Walking into this pub feels like coming home. The warm welcome, comfortable seating and warm ambience is something I look forward to. We very much enjoy seeing our friends whom are usually working when we show up and catching up with Rachel. The Gaelic Club is one of the best sandwiches, cooked just the way I prefer, warm in the middle without melting the cheese. The bacon brings out the flavor of the turkey perfectly and adds just the right amount of moisture to the overall sandwich. Fries on the side make this dinner exceptional! Pretty unimpressive, at times offensive. Very dark inside, but otherwise a pretty cool place, feels the way an Irish pub should. We went on a Sunday afternoon, maybe one other table occupied in the restaurant and service was very slow. We ordered chicken wings as an appetizer, wings were cooked fine but were unseasoned and the sauce was overly sweet. Took about half an hour to wait for our food in a basically empty restaurant. I had a Reuben, which was okay, I feel it was lacking corned beef. Fries were not crispy but seasoned pretty well. I discovered that the ketchup on our table had seemingly spoiled and tasted sour, which was thoroughly disgusting. My girlfriend had one of each slider. The burger was decent to good, Reuben slider was fine, fish sandwich was delicious. The fried fish was easily the highlight of the meal. Overall would not recommend. Kind of expensive for the quality, much better options around. read more
