    Stuffed Flounder
    Jeff B.

Our First time back at Piper's in over a year. We arrived at 1:00 on Wednesday. Twenty or so eating, but not crowded. We were seated at a booth quickly, but it took 10 minutes for the waitress to get to us. She seemed to have the majority of patrons so I'll give her that. We ordered the fish and chips with fries and my partner order the stuffed flounder with mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese. The Mac and cheese has an up charge of $3 if you want it as a side. The meals came within 15 and were huge. The portions seemed to have increased as well as the prices. They were for the most part excellent with the exception of the sauce under the stuffed flounder. I think mistakingly the chef put too much black pepper in it as it would burn your throat. It was so much food that we took home half. The only downside to our lunch was that the waitress never came back by, asked if everything was good, but she did come by with the check when she noticed we were finished. If service was better, my review would be a 5. We will be returning as lots of menu choices.

    Shrimp and grits

I met 4 friends June 25, 2026 for dinner at Piper's and we were seated at the high tops along the back wall. Our waitress seemed to have that whole section and yet she kept up with all her tables m. One of the guys had the prime rib special, which is always amazing. I wanted something less heavy and ordered the shrimp and grits. I have had shrimp and grits in Memphis, New Orleans, and Charleston SC and Piper's version of shrimp and grits was the best. The combination of bacon and mushrooms complimented the cheese of the grits. I had enough to bring home to share! Awesome meal!

Excellent North East Raleigh lunch spot. Super busy and loud, well staffed, gorgeous old pub atmosphere. Long bar, tons of tables, plenty of parking. Extensive pub menu with many old favorites.

    French onion soup- very yummy!

4:45p Monday Food; I loved my French onion soup. Just great! Service: waiter was great , had lovely conversation and very friendly, attentive. Atmosphere: we came early so we could catch up, the noise level was fine at this time of day to have conversations, I was able to hear throughout the dinner. Booth seats were a little tight but comfy. Will definitely go back again.

Stopped in for lunch, we ate here about 10+ years ago and had a very average meal. We hoped today might be different... The pros - drinks and food served fast! Staff very friendly. Restrooms clean. The crab dip was delicious, house made potato chips very good! Cons - the southwest salad was just average, husband said wouldn't order it again. My shrimp and grits was very odd tasting. When I think of shrimp and grits, I figure the typical Southern white grits, cheddar on top, grilled shrimp and bacon with scallions. This was not it. Very different than what I expected. Didn't finish it. $66 before tip and it was just an average meal. We think we'd dine here again but would pick different entrees. Plenty of parking, great location and good music!

New to North Raleigh area and stubbled across this tavern. The staff is very inviting and the ambiance is very casual which is great! They have plenty of drinks from drafts, bottles, and liquors. They have different events that go on nightly. The food is pretty tasty. We have tried the pizza, quesadilla, and the smothered pork chop. This place would've gotten 5 stars if it wasn't for the pork chops. The gravy had no taste, the pork chops were tough, and the green beans needed some seasoning. Other than that everything else we had was great! We'll definitely be back for some more drinks and food.

A local favorite! The food is all made in house. The staff are always incredibly friendly and they have ample interior and exterior seating.

The location is cleverly tucked around the corner from the Hibernian Irish Pub, with subtle arrow signs guiding you there -- discreet enough that you'd never stumble upon it without doing your homework first. Inside, the ambiance delivers: cozy, warmly lit, with seating for various group sizes and a handsome L-shaped bar anchoring the space. It was a Saturday evening and relatively quiet when we arrived, so we expected attentive service. Unfortunately, it never came. We sat at a two-person table just off the bar with a direct sightline to the staff -- plenty of whom were engaged in extended personal conversation with one another. Our first round was a highlight: a well-made Old Fashioned and a solid Dirty Martini. Pricey for the area, but not unreasonable given the setting. It was downhill from there. After finishing our drinks, we had to flag down our server for a second round -- despite the fact they were standing six feet in front of us. After that second round, we'd seen enough. Getting the check proved equally frustrating; multiple attempts at eye contact with the staff went nowhere, and we ultimately had to walk up to the bar to close out our tab ourselves. The bones are all here for something special. The Dry Cleaners just needs to match its atmosphere with the service to back it up.

The North Hills spot ( 4421 Six Forks Road in Raleigh, beside Total Wine) feels settled in the best way. Comfortable, Welcoming, Cozy. We started slowly. A wine flight. Truffle fries with truffle aioli, parmesan, oregano. Marinated olives layered with citrus and herbs. Nothing too over the top, but generous and satisfying. The kinds of plates you keep reaching for without realizing it. For dinner, we had the the NY Strip (North Carolina pasture-raised Angus with Diane sauce and a French onion potato gratin). And the roasted whole fish (with hazelnut gremolata, citrus beurre blanc, and confit sunchoke). Both cooked to perfection, nothing missing, and absolutely delicious. What stuck with us the most htough, the service. Ben and Oscar were sharp, attentive, and present without being overbearing. They made the evening feel even more incredible. The business was clean and there is also a bar inside. The restaurant has a large selection of wines and offers flights for purchase. The restaurant had some people dining in but they were not overly packed. Initially our server was pleasant and attentive. I got a blood orange sparkling water. It was ok. I ordered the whipped ricotta for an appetizer to share and a burger with fries for my entree. The whipped ricotta was ok. It would taste better with some sort of seasoning in it. My fries were served hot but needed some salt. I asked for my burger to be cooked well done but I was brought a burnt burger. I took one bite but it was too overcooked. I then requested that my server have my burger be cooked medium well so I didn't get another burnt burger. When my burger was brought back out, our server had me cut into my burger to make sure it was to my liking. The preparation was better but it was bland and tasted like there wasn't any seasoning on it. After this our server wasn't as attentive anymore. For dessert we got the donuts. They were served warm and I enjoyed them with the cherry sauce. I did not like the chocolate sauce that was served with the donuts.
