    Stuffed Flounder
    Jeff B.

Our First time back at Piper's in over a year. We arrived at 1:00 on Wednesday. Twenty or so eating, but not crowded. We were seated at a booth quickly, but it took 10 minutes for the waitress to get to us. She seemed to have the majority of patrons so I'll give her that. We ordered the fish and chips with fries and my partner order the stuffed flounder with mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese. The Mac and cheese has an up charge of $3 if you want it as a side. The meals came within 15 and were huge. The portions seemed to have increased as well as the prices. They were for the most part excellent with the exception of the sauce under the stuffed flounder. I think mistakingly the chef put too much black pepper in it as it would burn your throat. It was so much food that we took home half. The only downside to our lunch was that the waitress never came back by, asked if everything was good, but she did come by with the check when she noticed we were finished. If service was better, my review would be a 5. We will be returning as lots of menu choices.

    Shrimp and grits

I met 4 friends June 25, 2026 for dinner at Piper's and we were seated at the high tops along the back wall. Our waitress seemed to have that whole section and yet she kept up with all her tables m. One of the guys had the prime rib special, which is always amazing. I wanted something less heavy and ordered the shrimp and grits. I have had shrimp and grits in Memphis, New Orleans, and Charleston SC and Piper's version of shrimp and grits was the best. The combination of bacon and mushrooms complimented the cheese of the grits. I had enough to bring home to share! Awesome meal!

Excellent North East Raleigh lunch spot. Super busy and loud, well staffed, gorgeous old pub atmosphere. Long bar, tons of tables, plenty of parking. Extensive pub menu with many old favorites.

    French onion soup- very yummy!

4:45p Monday Food; I loved my French onion soup. Just great! Service: waiter was great , had lovely conversation and very friendly, attentive. Atmosphere: we came early so we could catch up, the noise level was fine at this time of day to have conversations, I was able to hear throughout the dinner. Booth seats were a little tight but comfy. Will definitely go back again.

Stopped in for lunch, we ate here about 10+ years ago and had a very average meal. We hoped today might be different... The pros - drinks and food served fast! Staff very friendly. Restrooms clean. The crab dip was delicious, house made potato chips very good! Cons - the southwest salad was just average, husband said wouldn't order it again. My shrimp and grits was very odd tasting. When I think of shrimp and grits, I figure the typical Southern white grits, cheddar on top, grilled shrimp and bacon with scallions. This was not it. Very different than what I expected. Didn't finish it. $66 before tip and it was just an average meal. We think we'd dine here again but would pick different entrees. Plenty of parking, great location and good music!

The location is cleverly tucked around the corner from the Hibernian Irish Pub, with subtle arrow signs guiding you there -- discreet enough that you'd never stumble upon it without doing your homework first. Inside, the ambiance delivers: cozy, warmly lit, with seating for various group sizes and a handsome L-shaped bar anchoring the space. It was a Saturday evening and relatively quiet when we arrived, so we expected attentive service. Unfortunately, it never came. We sat at a two-person table just off the bar with a direct sightline to the staff -- plenty of whom were engaged in extended personal conversation with one another. Our first round was a highlight: a well-made Old Fashioned and a solid Dirty Martini. Pricey for the area, but not unreasonable given the setting. It was downhill from there. After finishing our drinks, we had to flag down our server for a second round -- despite the fact they were standing six feet in front of us. After that second round, we'd seen enough. Getting the check proved equally frustrating; multiple attempts at eye contact with the staff went nowhere, and we ultimately had to walk up to the bar to close out our tab ourselves. The bones are all here for something special. The Dry Cleaners just needs to match its atmosphere with the service to back it up.

So cool! We got a flight of light wines and all were different and pretty decent. I got a pasta dish and really liked the blackened chicken. I'd just be happy to have it on its own. I think the decor could have some softer furnishings to break up the hard angles and lean into the cozy vibe a bit more. Lots of angles and metal. I'd pop in some soft ivory stools at the bar end for a really lux vibe. Hostess and server were nice. Efficient. Definitely a place to keep on rotation.

The tables are spacious and comfy. We had one along the New York themed wall. We started with $5 cocktails, I had the Bellini. It was peach and prosecco. Very delicious. Then I had the lemon ricotta pancakes with hash. This dish was so good. The pancakes were light and fluffy and had a beautiful lemon and blueberry taste and had a dollop of mascarpone on top. The hash was well seasoned and cooked crispy how I like it. Hubby had sausage omelette. He liked it. Daughter had French toast and she loved it. Our waiters name was Nick and he was sweet and efficient. Everyone in the restaurant made us feel welcome and valued. All in all a wonderful brunch in a great new restaurant. Both of us didn't expect the full nice restaurant dine in experience that they have going on here. On the left is an area for pickup and delivery and on the right it's a really nice dining room. We tried it out early on a Friday night. Got lucky with a table near the open kitchen where we got to see some amazing and great-smelling food come out. I was even more surprised at the quality of wine offerings by the glass, and went with a nice Chianti. He got a Boss Martini with blue cheese olives. He said it was good, although not as dirty as he would have preferred. I had seen a review online of their hot honey pepperoni pizza which is what had taunted me to suggest this place, so we shared a large one, which came out looking just as fabulous and tasted pretty darn great. Only oddity was one side there were a couple pieces that He felt were just slightly under done. Love the dollops of ricotta, the burst of flavor from the tiny peppers and the cup pepperoni. Pretty sure the sauce is just crushed tomatoes, which works well to let the toppings shine. If there was actual hot honey on top we couldn't tell. The large is indeed large, and we took plenty home for delicious leftovers. I will add that Service was super friendly, but we waited a long time for our ready drinks to be brought from the bar. And our pizza sat a bit before being brought to us also. Both minor in the grand scheme of things. We will definitely be back, especially since they gave us a card for a free appetizer with a pasta dish.
