I needed a nosh before a meeting and who doesn't love an Irish Pub? This was my first time visiting Trali and won't be my last. It was about 6pm and the dining room was about half full, but everyone seemed in good spirits and many were watching the World Cup. The hostess sat me at a table near the entrance and facing the bar, I had a book with me to catch up on and planned to read a bit. Within a few minutes, the server came around, showed me the beer list and asked if I wanted anything else. When she returned, she saw that I had a book and very attentively asked if I would like to be moved to a quieter table... yes please! She mentioned that a 16 top was due any minute and they'd be taking up the large bar top in the center of the room, and it'd probably get pretty loud. She then talked with the hostess, and they moved me into, the library, of all rooms... how apropos... It's literally adjacent to the open bar area, but walled off and with a definite library vibe. I was sat in a corner table and with perfect ambiance. Looking over the menu, I couldn't really decide on a dish, but I wanted something more traditional Irish. I finally chose the Boxty potatoes topped with corned beef and it was a perfect portion. Everything came out to the table quickly, perfectly hot, and portioned well. I loved the mix of flavors and textured from the baked mashed potato to the shredded corned beef, and finished every single bite. I finished two chapters of my book and was pleased to see another patron in that room also reading. All in all, a night well spent and will definitely return when I'm in the area. read more

I would say go for a drink with your friends, but don't expect much from the food. If you're looking for a good selection of drinks, many of them from Europe, I think you'll be very happy here. They have of course Irish drinks, but they also have kolsch from Germany, red ales from England, and Belgian beers, to boot. They also have a pretty broad menu, with a variety of items that are Irish or Scottish. Having been to both, I was excited to try some of their foods. I found that they were just okay. I've had better versions of everything I ate, and I think the key problem was seasoning. Things were just not seasoned very well. Service was very attentive. The food came out in relatively good time. They also have plenty of nice booths and a warm atmosphere with lots of wood. On the walls are vintage Guinness prints, like any good Irish pub. As someone who loves a good Irish pub, I thought this place was great. Despite being located in a highly developed shopping area, the place really has the feel of an Irish pub when you walk in. The decor. The chairs. The bar. Everything feels like it was fully thought through. I order a Guinness every time I show up, and it's always served well. The bar tenders are amazing. The wait staff are great. The overall experience is generally good, and amplified by the amazing atmosphere. The place tends to be a bit crowded and somewhat noisy, but there are also areas of the restaurant that are a little more quiet. In terms of food, it was fine. I haven't tried everything on the menu and have generally focussed on some of the vegetable forward items. I'm probably not their target audience for food. What I've had is good, and often has a very Irish feel. It isn't exceptional, but it feels authentic. Overall, I think this is a fantastic destination. I'm biased when it comes to Irish pubs, but I can't think of a reason to go anywhere else if you're in the area. read more

The service and ambiance of Trali is great. Our server was friendly and attentive. The vibe of the restaurant is very rustic and homey, I love the decorations. My favorite item is the Family Appetizer: it comes with Irish Egg Rolls, Potato & Cheese Croquettes, and Scotch Eggs. All of those appetizers are perfectly seasoned and paired with delicious sauces/dips. The last time I ate here my husband and I tried dishes off of their seasonal menu. I had the Dublin Coddle and had to add so much salt in order to really taste anything in the dish. It just tasted like meat and mash in hot water... but I did like it once I seasoned it. My husband had the General Burger and said it was flavorless (so it probably needed salt too). I'm not sure if the appetizers at Trali are just way better than their entrees, or if the seasonal items are just not their best. read more

Super cool quaint & cozy Irish style pub inside, kind of throws you back to old Ireland. The overall inside seating is not too large. It was cold the evening we went so most wanted to wait for their tables inside which created a little cramped a feeling. The service was decent and our server didn't rush or a pressure us to hurry up and order just because they were busy. Once we ordered our food came out relatively quick. Had the Shepherds Pie and I will say it was flavorful, warm and delicious. Could have eaten more. Decent selection of beers on tap. read more

First of all, I'm a big fan of the atmosphere, stepping through the door really does feel like stepping into an Irish pub. The staff was very friendly and engaging as well. I started with a half and half beer, my usual go to in an Irish establishment. The Guinness had the right flavor since it was poured properly and the Harp lager added a nice light balance. For food, we started with an order of the steamed mussels which come in a luscious sauce made of Kerrygold garlic butter & white wine (thank goodness we got some toasted bread for dipping!) Great flavor though a couple of mussels did remain closed, unfortunately. We then split the lamb burger which came with cheese and a horseradish aioli and the usual toppings. Pretty good, not overly special. But I really liked the fish 'n chips. Beer battered cod is always the best way to go with this meal. Crispy thin batter, moist filets. And the fries were crispy on the outside, soft on the inside and well seasoned. Lemon wedges, malt vinegar, and tartar sauce brought it all together. There are a number of good Irish pubs in the Triangle, but Trali would be either my favorite or second favorite. read more

The wife and I have been patrons of this establishment since 2010! The closeness of the staff to each other and the patrons shows true caring. Over the years, the menu has pretty much stayed the same except the specials, that are done seasonally. This night we opt for the North Carolina lamb, sliced into a tomato wrap and potato salad for me and the wife had the only served once in a while jerk rubbed wings. Both delivered! Came here on a Saturday for lunch and we had a very pleasant time. Before you go- check to see if there is a rugby or soccer game, we went on a day with a big game and it was packed! The inside was very loud due to the celebrations, we opted to sit outside for a quieter lunch. They did have a limited menu due to the game- another thing to consider if you do go on a big game day. I got the Shepherds pie (lunch portion) that was beautifully made. The taste was good but nothing outstanding, it hit the spot on a chilly day. In my opinion, it got a little boring after a few bites, but definitely still good! Rated the number one Irish Pub in NC but the food left me unimpressed. Service was okay but the waitress seemed rushed. It did seem like a typical English (!) Pub so I'd give it 5 for that. I ordered a Corned Beef Rueben which did not have very much corned beef in it. The sauce was overpowering and not a very good flavor though the bread was excellent. I had a side salad, with sesame dressing which was excellent. My husband ordered a Lamburger sandwich with a salad as well and he said the sandwich was nothing to write home about. TLDR: Typical Irish fare, ideal atmosphere, and great drink selection. Small portions for the price point and slow service. We were so excited to check out this local Irish pub, but left hungry and underwhelmed. On a Saturday evening, the restaurant looked mostly empty. Some parties were dining outside and a few inside. We were greeted by the hostess who asked if we wanted to sit inside or outside. We chose inside and I hoped we would be seated in the comfy looking "library" area (to the left of the hostess stand). Unfortunately we were seated squished right next to a large party. There were multiple other open areas for us to sit so this was surprising. A bit later our waitress arrived and took our order. They offer traditional Irish dishes and beer, whiskey, wine, and numerous drink creations. We appreciated how they let us taste a couple beers before ordering. We liked both and settled on the Vienna Lager. The Weihenstephaner Hefeweizen had a lovely clove finish. For our entrees, we chose fish and chips (fries swapped with potato salad $18), Reuben ($14), and corned beef boxty ($14). Although everything tasted okay, it was all very underwhelming. The portions were small, especially for the price. Most of the time when dining out we leave with leftovers. This time we finished our plates and were still hungry when we returned home. The Reuben was so flat. The bread was good, it just needed more of everything. Service was sporadic and slowed as we dined. Our waitress was nice and delivered accurate orders. I believe she forgot to place our to-go order since we finished eating and waited a while for it to arrive then received the check. Another employee (manager or bartender?) brought our drinks. Great place to watch Notre Dame football on Saturdays, and sometimes early morning on weekends for the premier league. It's harder to remember to take food pics with a baby! But this place was an unexpected Irish gem. We recently held our wedding rehearsal luncheon at Trali and could not have been happier with the entire experience. They gave us a lovely private room, and the servers were very friendly and attentive. The food was outstanding! We had the corned beef and cabbage, shepherds pie, grilled chicken, rice pilaf, mac n cheese. Everyone was very pleased with their meal, topped off with wonderful sticky toffee pudding and cheesecake. The vibe inside is dark wood cozy. I mean, there's even a library room in the joint. The outdoor patio is so lovely when the weather is good. The menu is excellent comfort food made with love and care. I'm not sure there's anywhere in the triangle with better mac and cheese or better french fries. Everything is tasty and the specials are always worth trying. The prices are really reasonable, almost everything is $20 or less with good portion sizes. The Guinness on tap always tastes fresh and creamy. The service is super friendly, especially if you become a regular, which I highly recommend. Parking is tough on a Friday- we thought the place would be packed but the parking was for another restaurant. Place inside was dark and the chairs were uncomfortable. Our server was ok. I had the Reuben- there was hardly anything on my sandwich- flavor was good- you can see from the picture hardly any meat, cheese or sauerkraut. Wow, that was bizarre! I recently moved nearby and had wanted to try this place for a couple of months. I had just flown home from a trip and was absolutely craving some good bangers & mash, so I thought this was the perfect chance. Walked in and it was not crowded, and was immediately greeted by a nice young lady who seated me at a raised table near the bar. All normal so far! Then the Twilight Zone begins. 5, 10 minutes pass as I sit there perusing the menu. Nice menu - all the regular pub dishes you'd expect. Nice atmosphere. But nobody comes by. Finally a young lady with dark hair clears the dishes from two gents 10 ft away at the bar and walks my directly towards me....then walks past as if I was completely invisible. I made a quick check - my fly on my shorts is not unzipped, I showered this morning, I look like a regular patron (no horns growing out of my head or anything). I cannot stress enough, the place is not crowded, I'm the only person seated in the bar area other than two guys at the bar. It's very strange, like maybe I'm being pranked on a hidden video show. So now I'm kinda amused, so I start trying to look up, fidget with my menu, mess with my phone, look around, etc. Obvious stuff that anyone who gives a crap would see as a clear signal that I am READY TO ORDER! The hostess who seated me (and has been 15 ft away just standing around) notices this but does nothing as if she is thinking "oh well, I seated him - my work is done". The other waitress who previously wandered by also appears to have nothing else to do and walks by again. No greeting. No "someone will be with you". And no assistance at all - heck, no acknowledgement of a human being sitting there waiting for help. We are at about 12 minutes now (I should be hangry but for some reason this is so surreal that I am finding it kinda funny and trying to speculate as to what the heck is going on). Now, hostess lady sees again that nobody has waited on me (I cannot stress again how bizarre this is since i appear to be outnumbered by staff). She now starts walking my way and I figure she is going to apologize and get someone to take my order (this entire time she has been interrupted to seat maybe 1 or two small groups). But she just breezes past, glancing at me briefly, and then walks to a servers station that now noticed was LITERALLY 8 feet behind me with several other waitresses there. And yet still nobody comes! I assume the hostess lady is going to get someone finally, but it now occurs to me that a) All this silliness has got me really hungry, b) I'm kinda up for a good steak now, and c) this place is not worthy of my patronage. Usually I give people the benefit of the doubt and cut them slack because i know it can be a hectic and demanding job, but this is just absurd. I just get up slowly and quietly walk out. It was like I never existed.... So if you are hungry - for the experience of feeling like you don't exist, try this place out. But, if you want a good Irish pub, I can suggest Doherty's in Cary which is excellent, or the Hibernian on Glenwood or Falls of the Neuse. Trust me, if my experience was typical, you can drive to any of these 3 places in the time it would take for the apathetic staff at Trali to even bring you a glass of water! read more

Trali is the place to go for Irish in the RTP area. The tavern atmosphere and Irish staples make for a good dinner. I took three friends on a Friday. We were smart to reserve our table in advance. I can't go without getting a Guinness. The potato croquettes were crisp and fresh. Their Shepherds Pie was superb. The full order is great for sharing. Yummy bangers and mash.And having travelled to London recently, I believe Trali's black pudding is superior. Do not miss the bread pudding or sticky toffee pudding. As another review had said parking is tough for this restaurant since it is in a busy outdoor stripmall area. Not a major inconvenience. We had a party of four on a Wednesday evening so didn't think we needed a reservation. The place was packed!! Fortunately a table for 4 opened up just as we walked in so our wait was only about 5 minutes while they cleaned it up. Drinks were delivered quickly and beer was cold as it should be. Service was on point for how busy the place was. We had to ask for a few extra minutes to look at the vast menu. We ordered our food and delivery was very quick. Salads were fresh and tasty, one person ordered mussels where were incredible and the rest of us ordered fish and chips which were hot and crispy. After our meal we looked over the homemade desert menu and order the apple crisp share. Its really only about the right size for two to share and not four but it brought back memories of my grandmother making this. Delicious. Definitely a place that we will visit again. I notice that their patio (closed for winter) had some dog bowls out there so I am assuming I can come back with the dog for a nice leisurely mean in the warmer weather. read more
