I was a customer at this restaurant for 30 years. .... Their food and their service has been declining for a while now, but "today"we nailed the pin in the coffin..... They will never see me again.... I just left there after having their triple play special, which is .....not very special. I sat 5-booths from the entrance. The employees and their VERY loudmouth female owner... We're all sitting in the 1st booth. The owner was so LOUD!!!!! We couldn't even have a conversation at the table. I said something to my waitress who told me that she she's Latin and loud. I'm Italian.... We invented loud. But we know "common courtesy" and basic manners in a restaurant. This owner has NONE!!!!! I couldn't WAIT to finish my breakfast and head out the door. On my way out, I heard the people behind me complaining that they have not been acknowledged at their booth. Completely ignored customers...... It was employee social hour and; Customers were intruding. I did complain to my waitress, who said that's how it rolls there and that I "would need to move to the back". Move to the back? Well, needless to say ... her commentary and lack of social awareness was reflected in her tip. ZERO!!!!! Watch out Compton's... You are not the only game in town anymore. We visit Poconos a few times a year and would come here almost every time. This year we came with a large group of 10+. Their food has always been good which is why we kept on coming back and tolerated their horrible service. Staying in the Stroudsberg area there are many places to get decent food but if you want an excellent breakfast this is the place. The service was great, friendly greeting quick to seat us and just overall fun nice happy people. We got an early start and the coffee came quick and often. My wife and I are in the Poconos for our honeymoon and as people who love diners, we knew we had to check out Compton's -- and I'm so glad we did! Our server was really friendly and accommodating, made sure to check in on us regularly and that we had everything we needed. Not only that, the food was amazing! My wife got chocolate pancakes which were cooked perfectly and I had a breakfast wrap which was full of flavor (and didn't fall apart when I bite into it). We both got home fries and they were well worth it. Nicely cooked and evenly seasoned. Great atmosphere, and you can tell it is a loved local diner. Anything we asked her and when we could find her for refills on our coffees, it was like we were bothering her. I had ordered the Double triple play: 2 pancakes, 2 eggs any style, 2 slices of bacon, 2 sausages, 2 pieces of toast. ( when I got the bill they charge an extra $1 for scrambled eggs, that's unbelievable, that's the easiest eggs to make). My girlfriend ordered there potato pancakes, they were good and full of flavor. She also ordered 2 eggs ( she asked for one side fried and one side over easy, they came out fried completely) bacon and potatoes. We were lucky to just get two cups of coffee, waitress never checked to see if we wanted refills, every time she passed, we would say excuse me, and we were ignored. Stayed at Great wolf and wanted a breakfast away from the crowds and good. with added gratuity it was $94 for my family for 6 - 2 adults two older teens (17&14)and two under 5! we had pancakes , eggs , bacon , waffles and home fries, orange juices , coffee and water! All very good and some best plain scrambled eggs i ever had - the packed were sweet but not too sweet and light! waffles was fluffy and delish , coffee wqs great too. Dylan served and seated us- he was great , friendly , kind and patient . FRAUDULANT CHARGE! Had breakfast with my wife on 07Sep2024. Food was good. Left an $8 dollar tip on a $38 charge for a total charge of $46. A second charge appeared on my account for $58. This is a fraudulent charge! It appears as though a tip of $20 was added to my original bill for a total of $58 and submitted as a new charge. I have reported this to my bank but just want to give everyone a heads up! UPDATE: Called Compton's. Theye said it was a mistake and would refund the $58 to my account. read more

This was my first time at Compton Pancake House. It was 1pm on a Saturday. I was told to sit somewhere near the exit since they are closing soon (one hour later.) It took a while to get a waiter despite the urgency concerning time as mentioned before. All the workers, older & younger were shouting the entire time. I know you practically live at your workplace so I expect some relaxation but this was excessive. I ordered a full stack of buttermilk pancakes and a glass of water. I never got the water. I enjoyed my meal while continuing to be witness to the chaos and several starting loud noises. The food was actually quite tasty.
