A solid three, three and a half star restaurant. It's WAAAAY better than it used to be. The food and cocktails have definitely improved since my first visit about 8 years ago. The ceviche is really good, except they ran out of ceviche, the last time I was there. I got the chicken tinga taquitos ( very good)! I have also had the tacos, also very good. Give this place a try

Came with a group of girlfriends for brunch and had a great time. I ordered the three tacos--tinga de pollo, shrimp, and fish--and all of them were delicious. Since it was brunch, I also did the bottomless mimosas for $20 (which is not bad at all). Our waitress was great and kept our glasses full the whole time. I really liked that they give you small carafes of different juices. We had orange, mango, watermelon, and pomegranate. For dessert, we shared the cinnamon sugar baked tortilla, which came with salted caramel ice cream, whipped cream, and caramel sauce. This dessert is not meant to be eaten by yourself--it's huge. Basically a giant tostado with ice cream inside, and it was absolutely delicious. I'll definitely be back. The only downside is that it's a little tricky to find once you park. You can access the restaurant either through the courtyard or directly from Harbor Blvd.

I stopped by here to meet some friends for Happy Hour before heading to a YE event at Nasung Sool. This was actually my second time here, and this round we got Francisco as our bartender. He clearly loves what he does, crafting cocktails with precision and creativity. Not only are his drinks spot-on, but his personality makes the experience even better. Super friendly, chatty, and genuinely fun to talk to. All the staff here are friendly and attentive, and I always love the overall vibe of this place. Super fun, relaxed, and full of energy. They already have the entire place decorated for Halloween, which adds to the festive, cozy atmosphere. Heads-up: finding this place can be a little tricky if it's your first time. It's tucked away in the same building as The Cellar, so keep an eye out or you might walk right past it. Whether you're stopping in for a casual drink or catching up with friends before a night out, Hidalgo always hits right!

We went here for my friends brunch there were about 30 people there. It was actually surprisingly very empty. So they were able to accommodate a really big table for 30 people. I will definitely say while there are brunch prices were so cheap! Even their drinks. I appreciate the prices of their menu. I had the French toast. It was pretty good and I tried the Carnitas from the chili like it was also good. I'd recommend.

    Nice outdoor patio

I had been wanting to come here for so long and finally made it in. The ambience is very nice outdoors and indoors. The service was also very good very attentive and I got the steak fajitas. The marinade was good and the meat was tender.

We came here for my Dads birthday and we regretted choosing a new spot instead of our usual go to. I had the chicken tinga y taquitos and was disappointed. It was under seasoned, dry and needed some type of sauce to give it some life but instead got a salad on it. My wife has the green chile enchiladas and the sauce tastes strongly of vinegar and the cheese inside was not melted. When I went to pay the tab I had a question about it and the waiters were in the kitchen talking and finished their conversation before helping but at one point they had the swinging door open, saw me, and continued to talk instead of acknowledging me. On a positive note, the drinks were very good and the chips and salsa were fantastic. We would go back for the drinks but go anywhere elsewhere for the food.

Came here with my family around 10am, we were the first ones here not very busy on a Saturday morning. Very nice waitress and attentive, we ordered the strawberry waffles, Chilaquiles and Benedict's. They were good, only complaint is they didn't have any hot sauce to add spice to your food just tapatio, since the dishes weren't spicy having some hot sauces (or spicy salsa) available would've been perfect. Other than that is was good. Price was about 17$ a plate.

One of the best Mexican restaurants I've been to! The menu is loaded with delicious options that are very creative. The food is so amazing and the flavors are some of the best I've had. The lamb shank birria was so tender. The beer battered cod taco was perfect in crispness. Every meal was amazing. Our server Sam was the best!!

Always a good time at Hildalgos. Solid happy hour with great service. The agua chile with the coconut is so refreshing and delicious. A great vibe for Saturday lounging.

First time having lunch at Hidalgo's Cocina, their drink menu is so tempting, they all looked amazing to start off your morning, the brunch menu had all the classics, chilaquiles, 3 types of Benedicts and more. Service was great with the waitress being on top of their game. Apparently the dinner menu is even better so we will have to come back for that. #brunch #thebest #fullerton #hidalgos #mexican #food #drinks #chilaquiles #benedict #benedicts #egg #cocktail #

I've been coming to Hidalgo's off and on for a long time. We stopped coming the last few years. But, recently, we went to The Twisted Vine on a Thursday and they wouldn't accommodate 10 people in an empty patio. So, we moved to Hidalgo. They were so nice and gracious. We had a great party on the patio. Now, today, I'm back at Hidalgo for the Taco Tuesday $10 special. It's worth it. You get 2 tacos and a beer, sangria, or margarita for $10. The carne asada tacos are good! Sam is the best waitress in DTF. I am happy to be back as a regular customer at Hidalgo.

Hildago's happy hour was perfect on a hot Friday afternoon. Tucked in the middle of the old California, now a commercial complex with cool little shops all around. The vibe was charming, the drinks good, the staff were awesome.

Hidalgo really came through even though it was pouring! We had the best time!

Honestly so sad that the original menu that made this place so special is completely gone. Husband and I showed up on our date night excited for a big piece of salmon and the delicious shrimp enchiladas they used to have. Sadly, I couldn't find one original dish. Not even an original drink. We'd be willing to try something new, but nothing sounded appetizing. Just a bunch of different stewed meats in tacos. Please bring back some of your old faithfuls!

The mocktails were refreshing and balanced!!I was so glad they weren't to sweet. We indulged in the Sierra Sunset, which came on a light up coaster showing off the sunset colors. And also the Lychee's & Cream, which was my favorite. I think it was the use of the kaffir yogurt that really balanced the mocktail and set it apart. The tapas we had were the Salmon Tartar, Patatas Bravas (add crispy Jamon), and Wagyu Empanadas. The citru notes in the salmon tartar really made this dish sing to me; bouncing off the creaminess of the avocado mouse and the richness of the salmon, then finishing with the crunch of the tostada. The Patatas Bravas were nice and crispy, and toped with a creamy aoil then a spicy Bravas sauce with added a nice spice and depth to the dish. However, adding the crispy Jamon is definitely the way to go if you order this dish!! Those Wagyu Empanadas were just the right ratio of meat to dough. Then those Manchego cheese cracker not only are a nice crunch, but also bring a nuttiness that balances the richness of the meat and that succulent mole sauce. Next was the burrata bowl, another favorite of mine. This must have been a whole burrata ball spread out and topped with cherry tomatoes an herbal basil sauce and crunchy kale chips. They even have us some tostada chips to dip in this delicious burrata bowl. They have a whole pallela section under the main dishes, so of course we had to try this out. We went with the Paella Negra; squid ink, gulf shrimp, clams, scallops and broccolini, and of course we added the Iberian ham. This was so decadent and delicious. Definitely recommend topping it off with a squeeze of the lemon they provide you with, it complements the dish. The corrners of the rice were nice and crispy, while the center remind fluffy. Shrimp were cooked to perfection, the dolops of aoli complemented the side ink rice. The addition of the Iberian ham really brought a smokey and salty addition to this dish. To end the night we decided to indulge in the desert trio, this included churros, an orange Mochi, torrija and ice cream. The orange Mochi was light and delicious and definitely and Instagram-able dish. But the one that stole the show for me, was the torrija. Something I had never had before, nice rich brioche style pastry filled with a passion fruit cream.

The crust was baked to perfection Crab Croquettas (5/5); filled with crab and topped with tuna sashimi. I found the sashimi unnecessary but the crab filling was flavorful. Iberian oysters (4/5): Amazing presentation with the dry ice, but I felt like the oysters were not very tender and kind of hard. The flavor from the oyster was mild, but the sauce was good. Grilled octopus (5/5): This was so amazing. The meat was tender and the spices complemented it well. Prime Wellington (5/5); This probably won't make you fool but wow this was great. I really liked the meatballs. Paella Negra (5/5): Now time for the headliners. This had seafood mixed with squid ink. There was plenty of seafood to go around and the squid ink really enhanced the flavor of the rice. Iberico Paella (5/5): If you want meat, you have to get this. There is just so much pork pieces to go around. So many great different flavors in this pan. Overall I really enjoyed my experience here. P.s get the inkind gift card at Costco

Our server was very warm and helpful. For two of us we ordered one heavier dish and 3 on the lighter side and I actually left pretty stuffed. The menu is always evolving so I'd love to return, but for this visit we started with the bread and ham butter. The bread was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and the ham butter imparted so much flavor. My favorite item that we ordered was the Galician Octopus. The thin slices were perfectly executed and the flavors underneath packed a punch. I would pass on the Gambas al Ajillo. While the shrimp were large, I found myself wishing that they had some char. The Summer Squash Salad was a perfect complement to the other dishes. I found the squash ribbons to be unique, the dressing to be light and fresh, and the inclusion of small bits of cheese to impart just the right amount of saltiness to the dish. Because we were celebrating my birthday, they gave us a complimentary slice of the basque cheesecake with a candle in it. Typically I'm not a big fan of this type of cheesecake, but theirs was wonderful and we ate the whole thing. I'm always appreciative when a restaurant does a little something extra for a special occasion. Extra props to our server because she noticed the gift that my friend brought for me and took it upon herself to inquire about the occasion and bring the dessert. We stopped by here on my birthday for a nice evening dinner. Got there a little before sunset. There's just something magical about eating outside during a sunset, especially at the Orange Plaza. The restaurant has such a cool look and vibe! We started off with the Hamachi crudo, salmon ceviche, and a bowl of clam "chowdah". The crudo was absolutely delicious, highly recommend. The salmon ceviche was really good but a bit heavy on the sauce for me. The clam chowder had whole clams in the shell throughout. That was fun to pick them out! For entrees we got the lean and mean plate with sea bass. It comes with salad and rice, we substituted the rice for black beans. We also got the skirt steak "bulgogi" which was served on top of mushrooms and bok choy with a sweet soy sauce. They accidentally brought out salmon instead of sea bass, but were very apologetic.
