We recently hosted a Master's graduation party for my daughter at Hidalgo's, and I can't say enough great things about our experience. In a time when good customer service is hard to find, they truly went above and beyond. From the start, the team was flexible, accommodating, and easy to work with. We were able to buy out the entire restaurant at a very reasonable price, which made the event feel extra special. The food was absolutely delicious--generous portions of steak fajitas and chicken enchiladas, plus beans, rice, chips and salsa, and a standout Mexican Caesar salad with avocado and tortilla strips. Our guests loved everything! What really set Hidalgo's apart was the service. The staff and bartenders were attentive, organized, and on top of everything all night long--they made sure our guests were taken care of without us having to worry about a thing. They have the best taco Tuesday in all of downtown Fullerton: $10 for 2 tacos and a margarita literally cannot be beat We've tried every taco on the menu and our favorites are the squash blossom, shrimp, chuleta and barbacoa. I've been here a few times so I could give it an honest review. The menu and service could use some work. The safest protein choices are the asada, shrimp. The potato and squash blossom for more of a vegetarian vibe. The beans are flavorful but not vegetarian. They offer complimentary chips and salsa. I like coming here during happy hour and ordering the asada nachos and tacos with a delicious refreshing Paloma. That being said the drinks are really crafted and balanced. I like that they offer the pitcher margarita in a beautiful hatch glass dispenser and the margarita flights are nicely presented. Both these options can serve more than 2 people. The detail on art, presentation and decor is designed beautifully. The service is mediocre but they could be more attentive to their guests. Since every time I went it wasn't that busy and pretty much empty. They have a large inside and a nice side patio. I know this places is known to host events like weddings, showers and any type of celebration. I've been here for a couple birthdays including my own and regular dinner or happy hour. Since it was brunch, I also did the bottomless mimosas for $20 (which is not bad at all). Our waitress was great and kept our glasses full the whole time. I really liked that they give you small carafes of different juices. We had orange, mango, watermelon, and pomegranate. For dessert, we shared the cinnamon sugar baked tortilla, which came with salted caramel ice cream, whipped cream, and caramel sauce. This dessert is not meant to be eaten by yourself--it's huge. Basically a giant tostado with ice cream inside, and it was absolutely delicious. I'll definitely be back. The only downside is that it's a little tricky to find once you park. I stopped by here to meet some friends for Happy Hour before heading to a YE event at Nasung Sool. This was actually my second time here, and this round we got Francisco as our bartender. He clearly loves what he does, crafting cocktails with precision and creativity. Not only are his drinks spot-on, but his personality makes the experience even better. Super friendly, chatty, and genuinely fun to talk to. All the staff here are friendly and attentive, and I always love the overall vibe of this place. Super fun, relaxed, and full of energy. They already have the entire place decorated for Halloween, which adds to the festive, cozy atmosphere. Heads-up: finding this place can be a little tricky if it's your first time. We went here for my friends brunch there were about 30 people there. It was actually surprisingly very empty. So they were able to accommodate a really big table for 30 people. I will definitely say while there are brunch prices were so cheap! Even their drinks. I appreciate the prices of their menu. I had the French toast. We came here for my Dads birthday and we regretted choosing a new spot instead of our usual go to. I had the chicken tinga y taquitos and was disappointed. It was under seasoned, dry and needed some type of sauce to give it some life but instead got a salad on it. My wife has the green chile enchiladas and the sauce tastes strongly of vinegar and the cheese inside was not melted. When I went to pay the tab I had a question about it and the waiters were in the kitchen talking and finished their conversation before helping but at one point they had the swinging door open, saw me, and continued to talk instead of acknowledging me. I held a surprise birthday party for my husband last Saturday. We reserved the whole restaurant and patio for 65 people. Everyone was seated inside, the food was buffet style, and the patio was overflow for the toddlers in our family when they needed to move! The food was delicious and the staff were WONDERFUL. We were able to arrive an hour before the party and decorate. The bar was open and guests could purchase sodas and alcohol if they wished. The staff assisted with cleaning up...just because! We had chicken tinga enchiladas, Huevos Rancheros, and Tres Leches French Toast, followed by flan and chocolate drizzled churros for dessert. They let us bring in our own birthday cake at no extra charge. What I loved most is that we had the whole place, which enabled us to move around and talk to different people, rather than being seated in such a tight arrangement we couldn't move. The price was better than some of my usual stand by places for a group, and the freedom to decorate, talk loudly, play music and move around, all while eating wonderful food made this a perfect venue! They were good, only complaint is they didn't have any hot sauce to add spice to your food just tapatio, since the dishes weren't spicy having some hot sauces (or spicy salsa) available would've been perfect. Came here for lunch today. Stood at the host counter with my wife and dog for 10 minutes. Two servers walked by us a total of 10 times. They did not look at us or even acknowledge our existence. The place was also not very busy. We decided to be patient and give them a few more chances to walk by and acknowledge us. They walked by us 3 more times without even looking at us so we decided to just leave. We could tell by the lack of acknowledgement that we were not going to get good service. It was a very rude and disappointing experience. It's common courtesy to at least say "be right with you" or even a friendly nod would have been something. But, recently, we went to The Twisted Vine on a Thursday and they wouldn't accommodate 10 people in an empty patio. So, we moved to Hidalgo. They were so nice and gracious. Karina was my server and was so friendly, and made sure our experience was perfect. The drinks were phenomenal - I LOVE the margaritas!! And I feel like the squash blossom taco is underrated. I love the outdoor patio, which is dog friendly, and can fit large parties. I hosted a baby shower brunch for my boyfriend's sister in law here and overall my experience was 100/10! I started reaching out to restaurants in Fullerton in late April asking about special reservations for a small shower and out of all the places I reached out Hidalgo's was the quickest to respond, accommodating and didn't charge any special fee to host my event here. Brianne Dudley was who I was emailing back and forth with, she was incredibly helpful. She mentioned doing a limited menu and adding a special header to it which I accepted. I am so glad I did! She gave me no trouble when I mentioned I wanted to bring my own small flower arrangements. She made my reservation process super easy! Now fast forward to the day of my event, June 29th. As soon as I walked in, the staff was welcoming! Especially Serena and Cynthia who were our incredibly sweet waitresses. I walked in with my flowers that were not in their vases yet, a few gifts and desserts. Right away, they offered to bring a jar of water for the flowers and for us to arrange them in the center table. And even offered to put our desserts in their fridge! Then when I asked about where I can place the gifts they kindly gave me two options and got the space ready for us. All of this done with a smile on their face and reassurance that it was not at all a bother to them. Then they immediately set the table for us, brought out the chips and salsa and the menus while our guest arrived. Throughout our time here they checked in on us, brought out drinks and food in a timely manner and in no way made us feel rushed. At the end of our meal, they brought out plates and silverware for the desserts. As someone who has worked in customer service for 10+ years I appreciate great service. Serena and Cynthia were amazing and I can't thank them enough for making my event successful. :) P.S. The food and drinks were delicious! We will definitely be back! read more

I really wish this place was a hit for me as it is always raved about. But it unfortunately did not meet any standards. Food, service, cleanliness all was disappointing. The margaritas were okay, flat batch made. I ordered enchiladas and the tortilla was extremely hard like they did not heat the tortilla correctly. Sauce/mole was mediocre. I couldn't get through two bites, I asked the server to take the plate back and was still charged for it. I'm so sad I couldn't love this place. read more

There are a lot of good restaurants in downtown Fullerton. This is not one of them, in my opinion. I am reluctant to give bad reviews generally, but there were issues with multiple dishes I ordered. Most concerning, the meat in one tasted off. It was enough of an issue that I looked through the reviews after the meal. If you do the same before you go, you will see that there are several low-star reviews that raise the types of issues I experienced, but they are buried in between 4-5 star reviews. You may want to read those low-star reviews, as there are several of them that recount similar experiences. read more
