    Walking the trails

It's been several years since I've been here and I'm very pleased by all the work they've done here. They have people in the front in case you want to purchase flowers or fruit or have general questions. They used to suggest donations but now they charge by the hour. You pay online and I believe it's about $2-$4 per hour. The whole walk is very serene and relaxing. It's a great way to touch grass and just slow down from every day busy life. We saw birds, butterflies, turtles, fish, squirrels, lizards, bees and rabbits. They have benches to sit on, small waterfalls, grassy areas and trails. They grow fruit there but it's not for consumption. They also have a compost area. It's a great place for anyone that loves nature. Highly suggest it.

Beautiful scenery and place to walk through! Plenty of benches to also sit and relax. Lots of fun wildlife for kids to interact with (turtles, fish, etc)

The parking was a little confusing, they seem to have a private parking lot for the Arboretum visitors, but there was a sign stating 'Lot Closed' during normal operating hours. Parked across in the larger lot and paid $12, the only nearby available parking for the campus visitors. Otherwise, it was a great place to let my toddler adventure. He was so happy to explore the Children's Garden, we loved the variation of ecosystems, he especially loved the slow streams and the ponds. Awesome, quiet, tranquil place to spend a few hours. There is a gender separate bathroom available on site. The place is accessible by wheelchair and stroller friendly.

Definitely something to see and do when visiting Fullerton if you want and outdoor experience and to be on the college campus. I think parking was $4 for 1 hour on a Saturday. The Arboretum is free but suggested $5 donation. Not really worth it in my opinion. But I am spoiled having been to much bigger, better, nice arboretum and botanical gardens. The whole thing can be walked through rapidly in about 30 minutes. It is not large. There are a few sections, and they have different flora. Maybe at other times of the year when more stuff is blooming it would be better to visit than early Nov. There was some kind of plant sale going on, so probably more crowded than normal, and it was not peaceful nor serene as others mentioned. It was ok, but I have seen better. Photos attached.

Wow! What a beautiful botanical garden and arboretum! I needed a place to just walk after work to distress myself. This was definitely the place to visit. It's located on the CSU Fullerton campus. 26 acres of just a peaceful serene oasis. There are benches located throughout the trails. Huge trees: redwoods, conifers, and deciduous trees. So there is shade throughout the arboretum. There is a creek, pond and a lake. There is a house there to tour but it's currently under renovation. The arboretum is free to visit but closes daily at 4:00p.m. There is parking dedicated to the arboretum but it's not free. Please come and spend a day at the Fullerton Arboretum. I went by myself but I saw couples, families and friends just hanging out.

Fullerton, CA It's been quite a while since I visited this property and on a return last week I would have to say it's so much smaller than other gardens I have visited since. Parking is no longer complimentary which is a huge bummer, I believe it is $4 per hour. The garden entrance is under construction right now so the main entrance is not accessible which really takes away from the first look at garden. It was nice to be back but with the new parking charge this garden would not be my first choice to return to.

Located on Cal State Fullerton compass is this massive arboretum. Parking on school lot cost $4 an hour. Entrance fee is a suggested donation price of $5 per person. Lots of trees, plants, flowers. You could literally spend all day at this peaceful garden but it was raining so we never made it half way through. Will need to return another day when it's sunny.

Not sure what just plant this one was but it looked like a brain

Nice Arboretum, surprisingly large and I love the multiple paths you can take get to different areas. You pay for parking via an app though when we went it seemed like a lot of people were not paying. Opened in 1976, its been a Fullerton staple for awhile, the day we went there was a large group of amateur photographers with their tripods snapping photos in different areas. This is a great place for nature photography. The Arboretum's many paths wind through four major areas: Cultivated, Woodlands, Mediterranean and Desert Collections. We just came back from Joshua Tree but still loved the desert collection the most. The kids enjoyed the large pond at the beginning, there is a large turtle and duck population that intermingle with each other. You may also find birds catching fish from out of the waters. Some of the trees are also covered in ants so be careful where you lean, the kids loved following the trail to see where they were going. Toward the middle volunteers were drying flowers, bundles of which they have near the entrance and you can take home for free.

i came where with a friend and it was such a nice escape from the busy life of oc! i didn't know this existed at all in oc. not only it was a decent size arboretum, it was free! parking isn't free, but it's only $4 per hour which is great considering it's on a college campus. at first we thought it was small, but the more we explored, the bigger it got! there were turtles and ducks near the pond area and also a nice area with projects/crafts people made :) it's for sure worth visiting to get your steps in and embracing nature!

Free entrance and temporary free parking plus easy mainly flat nature walk w plenty of shade, what's not to like about this place. At mid 80s temp, it was hot for sweater weather so coming here in the afternoon provided plenty of cool shade and resting spots everywhere. There's not many flowers yet as it's winter easing into spring, but there was a tulip tree full of buds, magnolias are in bloom right now. A few daffodils were popping up as well. This precious nature spot in the middle of Fullerton is a great place to visit.

This was my second time here and found new sights to enjoy! Parking was plentiful and's very close to the entrance. The parking is $4/hr and there is no entrance fee but a suggested donation. Normal bathrooms are found near the entrance. There is a cute kid's area with plenty of items to keep the kiddos busy. The one the kids in our group liked the best was the pipe organ. You press the pedals for the notes and there's easy sheet music to follow. We wandered around the cactus garden which was pretty impressive and had plenty of good photo opportunities. The flowers were not in bloom so we were not able to see the rose garden or smell the chocolate flowers. There were plenty of benches so you can stop and rest as frequently as you would like. Some areas are shaded so you can take a break from the sun on a hot day. I don't remember seeing any cafes or food places inside. There was a museum that was not open on the day we went. It's a nice place for a nice walk. I will definitely be back!

The Fullerton Arboretum is a botanical garden gem for us people in Orange County. The grounds are beautifully curated, wonderful selection of local flora and also plants and trees from other locations. The cost is FREE but they do have a DONATION box for those wanting to support the conservation of this beautiful botanical garden (on selected days people can also buy plants, tress and fruits from the for sale section) please reach out to them directly to find schedule of "for sale" dates and times. There is some fauna: birds, butterflies, rabbits, turtles, ducks, lots of cute lizards and if your LUCKY you may see an or a (jk on those ) LOL in all seriousness, if you haven't visited the Fullerton Arboretum please go check it out! I think you will enjoy it

While searching for a venue for my mother's memorial, I came across the Fullerton Arboretum. I had originally been considering the Bacon Pavilion, but to my surprise, the entire venue was absolutely beautiful. The Arboretum has such a peaceful and natural feel. The trees, flowers, and outdoor scenery create a calm, beautiful setting that feels tucked away from the busyness of the city. It truly feels like a hidden gem in the center of Fullerton. Even though it is located on the Cal State Fullerton campus, it is still easily accessible from the freeway, which makes it convenient for guests. Unfortunately, the venue did not work for our memorial because several people attending would have had physical limitations, and the amount of walking could have been challenging for them. However, for other types of events such as a baby shower, wedding, celebration, or intimate gathering, this venue would be absolutely beautiful. Even if you are not planning an event, I would still recommend visiting the Arboretum just to explore, relax, meditate, or enjoy a peaceful escape. It is a beautiful place with a warm, natural atmosphere, and I am glad I discovered it.

there is no minimum cost for the entree. It is highly encouraged that you donate though, and you could do that by purchasing some of their fresh fruit at the front entrance or as a cash donation.

Last time I tried to go to the Arboretum, it was closed to non-members on the day of my visit. Are there still days when it is closed to non-members?

They've changed it now, it's open everyday to the public from 9 am - 4 pm.

The only communication I received was asking where an item I rented (the projector/VIBE) was placed. I told them, they found it, and that was the end of it. Shortly after, Alex (the COO) emailed me stating that my security deposit would be returned by this weekend. It still hasn't been returned. About 4 days after receiving the email from Alex , Chloe texted me asking if I had received my deposit. I told her no and sent her Alex's email confirming the refund. 2.5 weeks after my event, she suddenly claimed that damages were found after my event. This raised immediate red flags. - The venue had cleaners come in right after my event, so they would've notified her of damages just like they did after her other events. So I don't see what's so difficult about showing me the cleaners claimed that the kitchen door was locked. Obviously, it wasn't if she can't provide proof. - Chloe herself said she would come in the following day to confirm the rented equipment was where I stated. So again, why weren't these issues brought up immediately if there was truly damages done to her venue during my event. - I had already contacted her the next day asking about camera footage, and she told me the cameras do not retain footage past a short period Despite all of this, 2.5 weeks after my event, I received this message: "After your event, our cleaning team reported a few issues... 1. The kitchen door was locked and a locksmith was called 2. A crack found on the wall 3. A broken door stopper" When I asked for video footage or proof, none was provided. Instead, I was sent a screen recording of text messages between Chloe and her cleaning staff. Her cleaning staff said these issues occurred at another event the following weekend after my event. Immediately, when I said thats not the date of my event she unsends the screen recorded message between her and her cleaners.... They are now claiming that I locked the kitchen door, requiring a locksmith, yet when I asked for proof, I received no response from Chloe and Alex. As of now, I am still waiting for my deposit. This entire experience feels like an attempt to retroactively justify withholding a deposit. The lack of transparency, delayed claims, and refusal to provide evidence is extremely concerning and unprofessional. If you value clear communication, integrity, and lawful business practices, I would strongly suggest booking elsewhere

The owner Summer was also highly responsive when we needed to touch base. Day of, everything was so streamlined that we hardly had to lift a finger beyond getting our decorations out of the building. The staff was on top of every element and they were all so sweet. On top of that, EVERY SINGLE one of our guests commented on how gorgeous the venue is, with some family members excited to find a place for their own events. We booked a buffet style dinner and added the lighting package, the coordinator upgrade, cake cutting, coffee service, soft drinks, and signature cocktails for a cash bar. First of all, the food is phenomenal. It's easy to dismiss any sort of banquet service, especially a buffet style, as something somewhat less than a gourmet meal, but not here. Not by a long shot. EVERYTHING is good, from the meats and sides down to the bread (at one point in the evening one of our guests had a plate of about 10 rolls, which was completely understandable.) My husband is a snob about meat, especially steak, and basically cried at our tasting with how incredible it was. We got great feedback from our guests both the day of and afterward about how great the meal was. The other really standout add on was the cocktails. It's another thing that every single guest (who imbibed) commented on, telling us not just how good they were but also how they loved trying "the groom" vs "the bride" drinks. The Charleston takes its alcohol seriously as a craft, with these drinks being the most truly *crafted* cocktails I've had in a while. It added an amazing element for our guests that they really noticed. From the "executing our vision" end of planning, the coordinator upgrade was *invaluable.* Emily handled all of our decor setup and strike, including packing things. I overplanned tablescapes, decor, and timelines, which made her job easy, but she's such a pro that she's usually the one to handle such things. (As an aside, she took my concept and ran with it in ways I didn't think of, and I was so thrilled with her execution. Emily, I adore you and your creative brilliance.) The other item we are so glad we added for our vision of the day was the lighting package. It was the thing that took a gorgeous ballroom reception into what felt like a bespoke event, from our spotlighted entrance to the lighting on the floor for our first dance. There IS an add on package that covered both of these line items and more, but because we wanted to choose some of our own vendors, we opted for only the individual items. I love who we hired, but for simplicity's sake, the larger package would probably be much easier for a couple looking for a "set it and forget it" style of wedding planning. We loved our experience with The Charleston and I'd book our special day there a million times over. The building is gorgeous and with a rich history, but beyond that, it's so welcoming--not just the people but the vibe there. For us, there was never any other venue for our wedding than The Charleston, and I'll tell everyone who will listen how much we loved it. I know yall read these reviews, so to the team directly: thank you for everything. It was the day we both always wanted, and you all made it special. We are infinitely grateful.

I walked into a space that is smaller than some larger Japanese gardens, but the layout feels carefully planned with winding paths, traditional landscaping, a koi pond, waterfalls, bridges, and quiet corners throughout. It is the type of place where taking your time matters more than trying to see everything quickly, and the smaller size actually makes the experience feel more intimate. The garden feels like a world apart from the campus surrounding it, and the transition from the university grounds to the garden is immediate and effective. The koi pond is easily the centerpiece of the garden and one of the most enjoyable parts to spend time around. I found myself lingering by the water, watching the fish move through the pond as the sunlight filtered through the trees. The fish are large and active, and the surrounding greenery, stone features, and water elements create a very relaxing atmosphere. The garden does a good job balancing natural scenery with traditional Japanese design, with each section offering a slightly different view and feeling as I walked through. The bridges and stone lanterns add to the sense of place, and the sound of the waterfalls creates a calming background that stays with you as you move through the space. What I liked most about this garden is how calm it feels despite being located on a college campus. It feels separated from the surrounding area once you enter, making it a nice place for a quiet walk, photography, or just taking a break. The landscaping is well maintained, and the entire space has a slower pace that encourages you to actually stop and appreciate the details rather than rushing through. The garden's design rewards a slow approach, with each turn in the path offering a slightly different perspective on the pond, the plants, and the stonework. The visit is fairly quick since the garden is compact, but it works well as a relaxing stop rather than a destination that takes up an entire afternoon. Reservations are required, so it is worth checking availability before going. Admission is free, although parking is an extra cost and can be the main inconvenience, especially during busy campus hours. The garden's location on campus makes it accessible, but the parking situation can require a bit of patience. Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden is a beautiful spot if you are looking for a peaceful escape rather than a large attraction. The koi pond, thoughtful design, and quiet atmosphere make it a place worth visiting, especially on a nice day when you can take your time walking through the garden. It offers a brief but meaningful pause from the surrounding city and campus life, and the care that has gone into maintaining the space is evident in every corner.
