Took the grandkids who had a blast and asked to stay longer. They enjoyed fishing, swimming and the arts and crafts.

We arrived around 5 PM and the experience was disappointing from the start. They charge extra for absolutely everything -- nothing is included, and it feels like a constant upsell. On top of that, the staff treatment was humiliating and disrespectful. To make things worse, they wouldn't even let us stay, despite charging $85 per night just for a tent site. Paying that kind of price for basic tent accommodation and still being turned away, with poor treatment on top, is unacceptable. On top of that, after checkout they don't even let you stay by the pool. I really, truly do not recommend this place. Save your money and look elsewhere. read more

First time here, first time camping. I had been dying to go camping. So a few friends of mine invited me. Some of them own a site here so they had tons to teach me. I came by during their Halloween weekend and it was spectacular. We played bingo Friday night and had Halloween party on Saturday. Staff were all absolutely wonderful and always cheerful and ready to help. Their bathrooms were surprisingly clean and warm at all times. Their burger place was nice. Easy to order. Burger was juicy, tasty and reasonably priced. However their super star was the extra crunchy fries. Sorry I didn't get a picture I got distracted while tasting and couldn't put the food down to take a picture :) their meals come with a gigantic drink which surprised me $12.99 is nothing for this value. read more

We went in the summer with the kids. Nothing shown on the website looked the same in reality. The lake was really not clean, to put it mildly, the pool was small, and the parking spots are small. The website says they have a safari, but there's no connection to the actual place. We usually go camping in a lot of places and haven't come across a place this bad before. First time coming to this camping resort for a union work party. We had a separate pavilion area blocked off for all of our entertainment needs but honestly, it's nothing special. It's a camping area with paid amenities. There is a basketball court, mini golf ($), a pool and Jacuzzi, swimming area in the lake with boat rentals ($) an ice cream shop, a camp store and a whole lot of acreage to explore **Work outing experience** We were promised free unlimited mini golf until 5 PM. However, there were many discrepancies with the time. One woman told us that it ended at 2 because the Jimmy fun took over while other coworkers told me it ended at 3. I understand it's a camping area, but if somebody has a paid block of time, it should be accommodated!! We asked our supervisors why this was and they said Odetah changed it last minute on the day of, even though we had paperwork and flyers since the end of July! I am wondering why 2-3 security carts are needed to patrol a quiet, peaceful campground. To the one miserable seasonal staff who feels the need to go out of his way to enforce rules to a 52 yr old man and talk to me like I'm 15. Get a life! I am a responsible adult who likes to enjoy my camping trips without feeling like I'm in kindergarten. Odetah campground, you lost a potential return customer due to your own staff that enforces rules but can follow them. You need to rethink your e-bike, e-scooter rules and limit it to age. As a responsible adult, I like to use my e-scooter to explore a campground and get around as my body doesn't function as it used to. This is the best pool I have found in a Connecticut campground. New as a seasonal this year. There are so many activities, all staff have been amazing, food at the Oasis is great. Everyone is so helpful.

Maybe if we were seasonal campers here I would be happier about this place. I felt like as I entered and was given all the rules and regulations and instructed as to how I should act that I was just kind of intimidated. I felt like I was checking into the hotel California. The young people at the gate were very serious and not welcoming. We were given wristbands that we were told had to be worn at all times or we could not access the services. And then when I read about the wristband I found out that it was connected to our credit card. Very creepy. I did not see where the activities were or the fun things were. I just got instruction after instruction and rule after rule. We were not allowed visitors which was unfortunate. I'm assuming it's because of Covid but really being outside camping and using the amenities would've been appropriate. We went to the restaurant to check it out and it was hotdogs and hamburgers and things that we weren't interested in. Our camp site was parked in the middle of a parking lot. We took a ride around after we settle down and saw that they were many sites that were treed and not on top of other campers and were empty for the weekend. We did not have a tree on our site and had barely any grass. There were broken red white and blue balloons all over the site so apparently they do not clean them after someone leaves. We had been sent to a site by the Gestapo at the gate and then followed the golf cart up there where were given more instructions. Not a smile on a face that I ever saw. We did not take part in anything that was going on there. I did not feel comfortable nor welcome. Camper beware ~ While they have an amazing resort type pool area, it was unfortunate that we were descended upon by 2 school busses full of young kids that spent 5 hours at the pool screaming! One day would have e been tolerable, but then we found out that it would be 3 consecutive days of the same! So our peaceful time away was disrupted! Odetah Camping Resort called us today 24 hours prior to our arrival - after 4 years of camping there - to cancel our site unless we rented an RV and didn't use tents. We were allowed to book and had the booking for 4 months. I was on the phone with them while I booked for assistance since it's a group booking for 16. I called later to book a cabana too. They never once said anything. Then they called 24 hours in advance because our reservation said tent and that's not allowed. Then they charged us a cancellation fee. Even tho they cancelled ON US. But my favorite part is them saying that the camping industry is moving to no longer allow tents. They think they are *kind* to still allow tents -a handful of sites on a rocky hill that don't have electricity or water. So those with medical needs cannot use those sites. Those with mobility limitations cannot either. WHAT?! Camping = tents. Change your name if you are going to discriminate. Don't worry tho, you can put on a tent NEXT TO an rv on the sites. You just cant put only a tent. Their customer service was horrendous. The experience was horrendous. What a shame. read more

I really enjoyed our stay at this campground and found the staff to be nice and very helpful. The grounds are beautiful and there is lots to do. We had breakfast at the Oasis and it was delicious. I stayed on campsite 54 which has full hookups, including sewer. The site itself was in a busy part of the park so there wasn't much privacy, but the other sites we saw were really nice with something to please everyone. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because you could smell the sewer the entire time we were there. At first I thought it was coming from my camper, but it was the ground around the site that stunk. Maybe it was worse because of the heat, but it was kind of nasty. I'll definitely be back, but will stay on a site without a sewer hookup. read more

We're in an RV site now. The RV site in front of us and the RV site on the side of us were rented to a large group of tent campers. We are literally surrounded by 6 cars, 6 tents and about 20 people. We feel like we crashed someone's party. There's literally nowhere for us to look where we aren't staring at them. Our picnic table is 4 feet from the kitchen that they set up. We'd leave early if their cars weren't blocking our path out. They are lovely people and I'm sure are respectful, but when you get that many people together, the volume is going to be extreme regardless. The weather was perfect but we had to keep every window closed and the air conditioner on to block the noise. If there were campers in those sites, as they are meant for, we'd be looking at the back of a camper, which is fine. We'd still have a bit of an area to ourselves. As it is now, we're right in the middle of someone else's party. Very uncomfortable. This place is more concerned with packing people in wherever than with the comfort of its customers. Also, the quiet hours are a joke. There have been extremely loud parties each night till at least 2am. You need to remove the word relaxing from your heading. There is nothing relaxing about this place. It's a free-for-all. We won't be back. read more

I booked a yurt for a couple days of mommy daughter (5yo) time after school got out. 2 days before our scheduled stay (well out of the allowed refund period) I get an email that the pool will be closed. There were some upgrades that were delayed and it will not be ready in time for our stay. We'll that sucks, but not a deal breaker. I'm all for updating. So I call the campground right away to confirm the construction status. Our site is right next to the pool area and I wanted to make sure there would be no active construction during our stay. I'm told 'no noise at all. The construction is done and we're just waiting for inspections and the permits to clear. Our beach is open and we have a inflatable slide for the kids' Great! No need to cancel the trip then. We arrive and the entire pool area is blocked off with construction workers walking around. Since our yurt site is right behind the pool area, we have to walk through the construction to get to the bathroom (definitely not 'immaculate' like the site claims. I already have low standards for campground facilities, but you'll be lucky to get a clean toilet AND a door that locks in the same stall). We go into the store and find out EVERY AMMENITY IN THE CAMPGROUND IS CLOSED. Nothing on the website during booking indicated that their season didn't open until 2 days later when we were scheduled to leave. Ice cream - closed, restaurant - closed, no activites scheduled, the slide wasn't set up (and when they set it up the next day, it was reserved for a party not for general guests), the beach was disgusting, the playground by the pool was taken out during construction (still on the map though and another reason i originally chose our site). But the mini golf was open. FOR $10 A PERSON! litterally the only thing you are offering despite a website glorifying this amazing family campground and all its ammenities and you demand more money for it? I tried to suck it up. My daughter didn't care everything was closed. She was happy just collecting sticks. We went for a nice walk.. And then I woke up the next morning to the sound of construction. They were still actively building some structure right outside of the pool. That my daughter and I had to carefully walk through and around everytime we needed the bathroom. ALL DAY. What finally made me pack up and check out a day early wasn't any of this though. It was that not one associate we interacted with cared. I've worked in customer service. I know none of these events were their fault and I refuse to raise my voice at employees. But not ONE person asked/offered/suggested anything to help make our stay better.. I was simply told no refunds, sorry. So we left and will not be returning even if their fancy new pool ever opens. read more

I was introduced to the park by friends and loved it. The staff was mainly adults and the manager seemed to really care. We decided to leave where we had been seasonal and began as seasonals the very next camp season. The price was reasonable considering what they had to offer etc. well they seem to treat you like gold your first year and then after you spend money in your site and make friends then they have the "take it or leave it attitude". We made great fiends over 4 seasons and our adopted son loved it. Management now has a horrible attitude towards seasonal campers who prepay well over $5,000 by March for the current season along with our time and effort to help the park stay clean and pretty while also paying our own electric bill etc. they treat our guests at the gate rudely. It became clear to us that some of the staff and manager also had a problem with us because we were a gay family. NOT LGBTQ friendly. read more

The show called maintenance staff putting unplug a toilet to boot it was the handicap toilet and the handicap shower sucked poor dramas loose could roll your tire or foot in the drain because cover on drain was loose there was nothing holding it on there nasty and dirty help first thing in the morning and in the evening it was still plugged up shit was on the floor it was nasty and being handicapped I wasn't too happy read more

Had lots of kids working that did a very poor job of cleaning there was glass, cigarette butts and bottle caps all over my camp site which We picked up due to having small children There is no BBQ pits on the sites. But I used the bathhouse daily and never saw one person clean it it was really disgusting and dirty hair in the drains. I have stayed at other campgrounds and this was the worst. This place is fantastic. The staff is very friendly, the Bathrooms were always clean. The campsites were fantastic. There was very few bugs, which I found quite nice. The pool was clean a little chilly but it is heated. There is an oversized golf cart that drives around and gives you a ride if you like. There is a large trampoline, waterslide, jungle gym, and huge rockwall all out on the water to have fun on all day long! There are activities all weekend long for kids. There is a large playground that was a lot of fun for my kiddos, ages 9,6,5. The views of the pond are beautiful in the fall and in the summer. There is a snack shack/restaurant right down at the beach that actually serves good food at a reasonable price, along with three TVs on their patio. Minigolf,horseshoes,boat and canoe rentals, fishing, volleyball, hayrides, plenty to do The campstore is great to, I always expect to get robbed at the register . This place is very reasonable. Just returned from a weekend at Odetah in site #43. In that section of the campground you can see the highway and hear very loud road noise all day and night. It was difficult to sit outside and have a relaxing conversation and enjoy nature, it was just so loud. For $108 a night, it is not my idea of a fun time. I think the campground has a responsibility to warn you about the situation in that area before you arrive. I picked that site on the website because it was near the beach, mini golf, and the pool since our grandsons were with us for a few days. I don't mind spending money for a nice experience especially when we are with our grandsons, this was far from it. We won't be back. read more

We reserved two tent sites at odetah this week, one for us, and one for the friends we always camp with. The booking was easy and seamless, and after researching Connecticut campgrounds, this one seemed to have everything our kids would like to enjoy. It was very expensive but we figured the amenities would be worth it. The good: I found the facilities to be clean, the grounds well kept, and there was a store, showers, laundry, and restaurant available. The mini golf course was cute too and my kids liked it. The splash pad was also a nice change from just a regular pool. Staff also picks up trash curbside very quickly. The bad: excessive amounts of noise all day. You can hear highway traffic despite thinking you're in this nice woody area. Large amounts of unsupervised kids with vulgar language, which we heard way past quiet hours making us wonder where the staff (and parents!) were. Excessively buggy; flies, mosquitos, gnats, and bees swarmed us all weekend. We are avid campers and got eaten alive despite the sprays, candles, and lamps we keep at our site. The ultimate dealbreaker was the fact that they were completing several construction projects that forced campers out of favorite areas for parts of the day. A staff member made my kids leave the pond beach after they were there for only 20 min so they could groom the sand, which sent my special needs daughter into a hysterical meltdown. It was the only activity she was able to enjoy and they asked them to leave. It ruined our day and made what was already an awful stay even worse. We packed up and left two days early despite being prepaid for the rest of the week. When I checked out, the lady sandy could have given zero concerns about why we were abruptly leaving. I didn't expect my money back but she wasn't even slightly bothered by what I told her. Odetah ruined what was the only family vacation we were able to have this year and we are all so sad and disappointed. read more

Absolutely love this camp resort! This place has everything you need to enjoy a weekend with friends or family. There is a lake that you can swim in, a pool, a hot tub, a mini golf course, a basketball court and a bunch of other activities for adults and kids to enjoy. They really take care of the facility. The bathroom are always clean and they continuously pick up your trash. There are canoes and a bunch of others things you can rent. There is even an option to get massages if you want to. This place really ya something for everyone. If you wanted to just be a traditional camper and not enjoy any of the amenities then you could do that as well. There was even a mini concert that went on at night which was pretty cool. My friends and I have been camping as a group for years during Memorial Day weekend and we haven't yet found a camp site we love until now. This will be our new go to!! Giving this place 3 stars as a compromise.... I can definitely see why people love it here and would give it 5 stars.... spotless, great staff, nice restaurant and activities... but DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU WANT TO TENT CAMP....we stayed in an area that was surrounded by RVs.... the only option to switch was a tent site in an open field. So I would give this place 5 stars for activities, fun for kids and cleanliness..... but only 1 star for tent camping.... if you have an RV, you'll be in heaven, if you have a tent- stay elsewhere! read more

If you are looking for unprofessionalism, hypocrisy, lying and you like getting threatened then this is the place for you!! After putting in for a pump out since July we were never pumped out but even after raising concerns to management and office staff, they claimed we were. I Finally had to sit at the camper for hours until they came to pump me out so I could babysit. The professionalism we saw this year at Odeath gets a big fat 0. The management and staff was often rude to us, Sean (Campground Manager) doesn't have his facts straight when he approaches people, he yells and screams and won't listen to the facts. At least two other families that I know of have been unprofessionally screamed at also this year And threatened to be kicked out. Sean is unapproachable to a respectful conversation along with the Staff and the campground owner. Think again before coming to Odetah. read more

I have been to Odetah many times over the years We usually come preseason for the first week in June This time their was a issue with my reservation (!probably my fault ) But they found a spot with water power and grey water in an area called safari I have seen it but never stayed It is a wide open field with spots very close together Our neighbors on both side have come to the line and one side is using what little room we have as and entrance and exit to their sites The pool is completely over whelmed for the number of people and the stuff floating in the pool this after noon was gross . I refused to go in later even though it's 90+' The lake is super low last few years And no float ( like the show on their website ) This year it was actually pretty gross and over grown I totally get that it might be a public lake but you could clean out the little swim area that is roped off Overall the heat was too much and 1/2 water was not usable so everyone was at and in the pool Not sure I will be back in Season again If you book online make sure you get a confirmation If not call wish I had read more

We stayed here for a week, arrived on a Wednesday and checked out the next Wednesday. It started out a bit rough when we got to our site and our electric cord did not reach. Nor did our water hose. They lent us an extension cord but we needed to buy a hose. Also, the young lady who checked us in gave me ZERO information on anything and just handed me the bracelets. Well, I did not put it on right and lost it 5 minutes into our vacation. So I had to pay $10 to get another one which she also did not show me how to put on but having lost the first one I made sure this one was properly attached to my wrist! And I did find the one I lost on the side of the road and they credited my money back. This was not a good start and I was really hoping that it would get better. And it did. Until Friday. Although our site was nice we seemed to be in the middle of a large camping event that started on Friday and ended on Sunday- the field across from us were tent campers, next to us and behind us were trailer campers, as was one down the road a bit. We had children and grown ups walking through our site all weekend. Not cool. The one group behind us was very loud and kept it up past quiet hour. My husband asked them to please try to keep it down (their kids were running around and screaming and yelling) as I was trying to get to sleep. They did not respond nicely to his request. So, I had to call security. They came right away and I don't know what they said but it got quiet and in the morning those campers left. The rest of our stay was pretty quiet and enjoyable although it was a bit strange to be in the middle of a party you were not invited to. I'm not sure why they did not put us in a different site but it worked out okay. The campground is well kept and very clean. We did not use the pool - it was very crowded . We did walk around the campground quite a bit and it is a very nice campground. We went down to the beach one night when they had a band and that was quite nice. And we played boozy bingo which was great fun. All and all it was a good week. read more

But we went to go check out the campground as we just bought a camper and the people at the office didn't seem impressed. You would think they would want to welcome new comers but apparently they have their regulars. This was my family's first time camping! And we had an amazing time! We rented a deluxe cabin (Turtle) - which we found perfect! It is very basic (so plan for all needs)... beds, microwave (which we never used), and mini refrigerator. Outside was also electricity & water hook-up. We all loved it! and plan on doing again next year! I was worried about the bathroom situation... but there was a bathhouse above us and one at pool/store area... so very convenient. never over crowded & always hot water... and I found them to be clean... they are public bathrooms... and sometimes the "public" doesn't pick up after themselves but I saw the saw clean on a regular basis. The store was convenient! almost too convenient... if you forgot anything, they had it... even things you didn't know you forgot! Lots of fun activities for the family! For all ages (we have an 11, 10, & 5 yo). The layout allowed the 11 & 10 yo to have some independence without too much worry. There were lots of other families... and all 3 kids had others to play with. I found ALL the staff to be very nice and friendly! They were very helpful (helping the kids fish, making the food exactly how they requested, giving suggestions about activities they might enjoy, trying to always include the kids, giving us a tour on the tram). They will deliver food and items from store to your site and they pick-up trash from your site all day long. I often saw staff picking up trash as they were walking (again, the "public" do not always pick up after themselves). I really felt like the staff cared about the place and wanted everyone to enjoy. read more

I am mainly a tent camper, but I camp with friends that own a small camp trailer. They highly recommended Odetah, so we spent our Memorial Day weekend camping there. There are a lot of things to like about Odetah. Their staff seem to be on the ball, the grounds are clean. The public spaces are extremely well maintained and bordering on immaculate. There are lots of things for the kids to do which is extremely nice. I love that they drive around all day and will pick up trash from campsites so you don't have to worry about dumping trash (a very smart move on their part). That all said, this is an RV park. The camping spots have a few trees, but there is zero privacy. If you don't have a camper, then you feel like there are always prying eyes. They do have a few tent sites which look nice, but they are close to the beach and you have no choice but to be part of the party (loud bands, etc) in the evenings. Also, if you're not a country music fan, be prepared to be serenaded in the bathrooms with hits like "She thinks my tractor's sexy". I'm sure if I was camping in a large RV, my opinion would be completely different (and this would be a 4 or 5 star review). This was the most I've ever paid for camping. We have been staying with Odetah for over a month while waiting to close on a home. We have canceled nights and rebooked nights due to changing closing dates with our home, and the staff was extremely helpful every step of the way. The restrooms, laundry rooms, and sites are always kept very clean! We have gone to the hot tub and heated pool almost every night! We love that the campground has a dog park that is tucked away from the sites! We have nothing but good things to say after our 30+ days here! read more

I would have been happy if someone had notified me that the lake was dried and it had turned into a swamp, the way I would have made arrangements and researched the are for other alternatives for swimming besides their pool. Way overpriced. Overcrowded. Loud. The only things that were nice about this "resort" were the pool and hot tub. We've camped a lot over the years and never have I been at a such a crowded, obnoxiously loud campground. Even with a 15 month old, we were the quietest people. The bathrooms weren't that clean, smelly and were full of bugs. The store was very overpriced. The staff was not very helpful -- while at the cash register, one woman got "distracted" and started doing other paperwork in the midst of my transaction. The site we were in had a 6' ditch along one side and the other two sides were busy roads... and with a 15 month old, that was not fun. We will stick to the cheap, more rustic campgrounds from now on where people are nice, helpful and the neighbors are quiet. read more

The word resort for the campground should have nice of everythings. The road were not paved, they all portholes and not biking friendly, we have to rent the kayak and the pond was not that good,the beach was okay area and the water was not that clean, the pool was not that up to date,the paints were peeling and no lifeguard, the campsite kind of too close and too open, the campsite should have some small plants bushes for a little privacy.
