The Wildwood Antique Mall of Lakeland is part of the Wildwood Antique Mall chain. Wildwood Antique Mall claims to be one of the largest antique dealers in Florida. It was started in 2011, when 77-year-old Manny Pesco took his last $4,000 from his former auction business that had closed because of the 2008 recession and invested the money into the first Wildwood Antique Mall that took its name from the intersection it is located on. Other locations opened in Eustis, Vero Beach, and Titusville opened in the intervening years and the investment turned out to be a good one since all of the locations do around 5 million dollars annually. What makes this antique mall different from the other stores in the chain is the abundance of merchandise available from the theme parks. I found booths for both Universal and Disney items. The fun starts when you walk in the door and there is a carriage from Disney's Port Orleans resort out front and you are greeted by a velociraptor straight out of Universal Studios just inside the door. Wildwood Antique Mall of Lakeland has all of the typical booths of antiques you would expect to find but my favorite booths were the ones filled with Disney and Universal Studios merchandise. Recycling the Magic had a Splash Mountain log flume car, Vault Collectibles sells Disney and Universal studios props, and Melly's Remarket sells Disney art. My favorite booth was the Jurassic World Tribute store in the back of mall with a ton of Universal Studio items. They had an extensive horror collection and many other one of a kind items. I especially loved all of the Haunted Mansion items I found throughout the mall. If you are a theme park fan like me this is a must stop if you are in Lakeland. Prices for the real collectibles were more than I could afford but I found a Haunted Mansion Loungefly for only $25. There is something for everyone. Allow a few hours for a visit because this antique mall feels never ending. I could have easily spent all day here.

At first glance, parking looks completely stupid. It looks as though there are only two parking spots, frequently taken by the employees. This isn't actually the case, though. But we didn't figure that out until months later. Had we figured it out sooner, we'd have been there more often. Now that we know, we will do just that. There's actually a shared lot to the south of the building; it's easy to miss so keep your eyes open! This is no ordinary thrift shop. They've got the coolest, most iconic goodies from eras past. Being an 80s kid, this little shop is packed full of delights I recognize from those days. Toys, old cameras, collectibles, footwear, memorabilia.... they've even managed to stuff an old VW Beetle inside. Rad. Oh and the vintage clothing! Good gravy, it's everywhere! It's perfect for us, as cosplayers. We've found so many pieces for our cosplays here that we couldn't find anywhere else at way better prices than ordering online. Love this shop! Admittedly, my slight claustrophobia creeps up when inside but that's because this place is SO stuffed full of spectacular vintage goodness. There were fans set up in many of the booths to help with airflow. Prices were great on some items and higher on other items but all in all I would say that this is a shoppable venue to visit. We had not been to this store before and it's not along a major thoroughfare so if you aren't actively searching for it, you would likely never know it's there. This place is truly a find! The owners/workers were nice and helpful. If you like well organized antique shops, this is a good place for you to visit.

Even so, I did manage to pick up a few items I had been looking for at reasonable prices. The deeper section inside the store is where I had the best luck, with a much better mix of selection and value. There is a lot to go through, and I ended up making a second trip back just to finish digging through everything I wanted to explore. I came away with several great vinyl finds on both visits. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and very personable, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Free parking right by the front entrance is another added benefit, especially since street parking in the area is metered during weekday business hours. I also noticed they have a large selection of comic books, which may be of interest if you enjoy collecting those as well. If you enjoy digging for records and don't mind spending time searching, Lloyds of Lakeland is definitely worth a stop.

Plus, the money goes to charities that help empower young woman. I will be cleaning out my closet and bringing my larger sizes (some brand new), so that others can find the same joy I have had here. I usually go on Saturday during the Farmers Market and park just a block away. I purchased a Top Buttons reusable bag but you can bring your own, purchase one there or just carry out the clothes! The staff could not be more helpful, the store very clean. The more upscale clothing (think Ann Taylor Loft, Brooks Brothers, Gap, etc) are in the front and the rest of the clothing in the back where the four dressing rooms are located. They also have days where they send out text to say fill up a bag for $50 or 25-50% off all of your purchases, etc. All great deals! They also have stores in Bartow and Winter Haven. It's always a treat to peruse this shop. June Taylor is in a VERY nice area, right smack in the heart of Downtown, Lakeland. Both times I've visited the owner and other staff member (maybe her Mom?) have been so kind and welcoming. This makes all the difference and honestly makes me come back to see what's new next time I'm in the area. Parking can be found nearby (in front of the Jimmy Johns). So, grab yourself an iced or hot latte from Black and Brew (nearby) and walk yourself to June Taylor, just as I did yesterday. You'll thank me later.

Because there are many merchants represented here, the pricing can be extraordinarily inexpensive in some stalls while a bit overpriced in others. But overall, the pricing is pretty fair. I love looking through each stall and finding little treasures you just can't find anywhere else. On this trip, I found what I was looking for - a milk glass pedestal bowl - but it was a little overpriced compared to the previous thrift shop I had seen it at, so I passed on it. But my favorite time to shop at the Mercantile is just before the holidays. They always have such lovely and unique gifts for my family and friends (and myself). The staff at the cash register are always so friendly and pleasant. And they make the experience even more delightful.
