Dear Owner, It pains me to give you two stars as my family and I made some great memories here over the past couple of years but forcing people to pay for parking? TACKY. No one else in Apple Hill does this and it's screams cheap. You lost a faithful customer but thanks to you, Boa Vista gained a new one! Fantastic ciders and environment over there and that will be our new spot. We'll be happy to come back if you decide to get rid of the parking fee during the peak season. PS - Your parking attendant mentioned that all proceeds go to the Boys & Girls Club and towards an improved kids area... so which is it? 10% to charity and the rest back in your pocket? Tsk tsk trying to disguise a "donation" as lining your pockets instead. The high prices for your tastings and bakery aren't enough? Hidden Star Camino has seriously good cider! I absolutely loved so many of their flavors!! The folks here are so passionate about cider and spent time explaining how they source all their ingredients locally- all the apples, pomegranate, guavas, peaches etc are grown by them and they explained how they came up with different flavor combinations. They have everything from very classic apple ciders to more beer/IPA ciders to cocktail-like ciders to mead ciders. Drove out from South county early Saturday morning to grab some donuts and fritters. Got there at 9:20 and the only thing in the case were what looked like some day old apple cider donuts and turnovers. Huge waste of time and energy. Went to Shorty's instead. read more

What a fun place in Apple Hill for kiddos to run around and play. Took kiddos here to run around and explore. Food they have a wood fire pizza truck there and it was absolutely delicious! The crust was thin light crispy and perfectly cooked. The owner was so friendly so you can't be the service there. But understand that it's self service so the ambience is really carefree and laidback. It's perfect with young kiddos. read more

We visit Apple Hill every year and this year we were looking for some new experiences. We had never been to Hidden Star before and were excited to try a new hard cider spot! Sadly our visit this year was during the pandemic which strongly affected our experience here. We were already nervous to come up here because of the crowds but we headed up before the busy season in October to hopefully avoid the crowds. I think many other people had the same idea though. COVID-This place does not enforce safety rules at all. There was maybe one sign around mentioning about social distancing but this was in no way reinforced. The employees themselves either were not wearing a mask or had it under their chin. Also about 80% of the people here were also not wearing masks, both walking around outside close to others and inside to get cider. The craft vendors onsite also did not follow mask rules. They were either not wearing the mask at all or got too close and took it off to talk to you. We felt very uncomfortable here. Cider-We got a cider flight here which consisted of 4 tasters for $12. This is on the pricey side considering 1 cider is only about $6. We tried the Ginger Rodgers, Pink Lady, Black List and Cherry Seinfeld. They were ok but none of them were good enough to want to buy some to take home. I would skip this spot. read more

First off their website says $5 special event parking, but they didn't have a special event they are just charging to park no matter what, when asked what the special event was, I got no answer. We went here for Mother's Day and brought a picnic lunch to honor our Moms. The hostess came outside to tell us there was no outside food allowed and pointed to their sign. She was very rude. She asked if we had a reservation, then told us she was going to charge us a $40 group fee. There must have been 30 to 40 empty tables. No where on their website does it say that reservations are required. Nothing on their webpage informes you that you cannot bring in outside food. We bought 6 sample flights at $15 apiece for $90 total and paid another $40 for the "group fee". Very poor customer service. Unfriendly hostess. No wonder it wasn't busy! read more

This place is an absolute gemstone if you have kids. They have a giant sandbox with trucks, old vehicles that you can get on and explore, a full pretend village... the list goes on and on. A large group of Friends of mine were here recently and got kicked out for having snacks for their children that have a special diet. I've been at this ranch before with this same group and have spent enough money to consider this a very stupid decision. Besides them charging $5 for parking for supposedly going to a children's club and another employee mentioning that it's to maintain their rundown playground, such BS. My group of friends were rudely kicked out while the people next to them had a spread of food and weren't asked to leave or to even put the food away. Will I ever go to this fugly ranch? This place is adorable, it's one of the smaller Apple Hill farms, but it has a little of everything. Even Shorty's doughnuts and take and bake pies! We got a couple of doughnuts they had a few left even though it was the end to the day, thankfully! They have a cool hard cider tasting room. This is one of the best places to come in Apple Hill if you have kids. I think it used to be called Millview on the apple hill website and brochure. They have so much fun stuff for kids to do. They have a little kid-size pretend town, a sandbox, tire swing, see saw, real life fire truck, airplane, and DIY playground, and much more! If you're looking for a place to entertain your kids and get em tired, this is the place! They also have hard cider and apple goodies. My only comment is a cautionary one... some of the play stuff they have is from an older generation where safety wasn't the primary concern like it is today. This is pretty cool in my book and reminds me of my childhood, but please supervise your kids if they are younger so they stay safe! read more

this is unequivocally the best stop in apple hill. They have the best hard cider, the best holiday pies, great donuts, and the most free family fun. There are old planes, fire trucks, semi trucks and boats the kids can play on, and an entire wooden town for the kids. plus the views are amazing. also, customer service treats everyone like family. read more

TL;DR - Best place for kids! While I do not have a kid, I am a child at heart and I loved that this place had something for everyone. You can have your apple ciders, flights or individual drinks, grab a pizza, watch a magic show, and do it all while your kids are out playing with their imagination on the playground. The playground had a fun pirate ship, and buildings like a bank, hotel, candy shop, etc. There's also a little marketplace where vendors can sell their wares. My hubby said this place had the best ciders of all the places we visited. read more

Huge kids area with lots of things to climb on and explore. There were a few things I worried about the kids being safe on (like a broken window on the plane). It's a little difficult with young kids that want to run in opposite directions because you can definitely lose sight of them quickly, so if you have little runners, make sure you have enough adults. But the kids "town" is very cute and there are so many "old fashioned" fun toys that aren't put into parks anymore (giant see-saw for example). Theres a real fire truck, tractors, and a real plane kids can crawl in and around, boxes stacked up to climb on, a mini maze, a giant sandbox with toys, and my kids always have a blast. The cider flight was a nice option, but the person who did the pouring seemed to be having a terrible day and didn't want to be there. Everyone has bad days sometimes, so hopefully that's not the norm. read more

Had an interesting experience here. It started with us walking up the driveway towards the property and their older dog coming up to our dog, smelling her, then immediately trying to attack her unprovoked. The owner came right out and was very apologetic and put their dog away, but not a great beginning. They have a lot of different ciders to choose from which is awesome and service was friendly. But we were a bit shocked by the prices here .... $15 for a flight of 4 small tastes and 12oz bottles cost $8. And they don't have the prices posted anywhere so I guess you just have to ask. The ciders were mostly all good, but most of them tasted pretty similar. Not sure if we will be back, their prices are much higher than other cideries we have been to unfortunately. read more

The variety of cider is good but the value is not. We don't have kids, we are cider appreciators. We always try our ciders and wines before purchase and there were many. Upon our purchase of a Case we were surprised the cider maker still charged us $60.00 for the overpriced tastings. Four 2oz tastings = 15.00  but One 12oz bottle = 6.00 ? Is this a "Covid" thing? They have a right to charge this but the tasting fee (or even partial) should be absorbed by a case purchase for sure :( read more

A tradition of ours each year is to come to Hidden Star and get a hard cider flight. Regularly Johann (the owner) comes out with new flavors of hard cider every couple months. Today we tried some chocolate one that was really good. Besides the amazing cider that is worth the price, Johann has extensive knowledge about the industry and is very very personable. He spent time today talking to us about Hidden Stars historic journey into what it is today. We would recommend this place for anyone that wants to enjoy a nice beverage and a wonderful view of the sierra nevadas. Not to mention you will encounter his sweet poodle. read more

This place is a hidden treasure! We were trying to partake in the Apple Hill festivities but unfortunately most of the farms were closed in December. We stumbled upon Hidden Star Camino, however, and it was an awesome discovery! The kids had an amazing time at the outdoor park located on the premises. The taproom was a cool experience as well. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff members. I highly recommend this place, it is definitely worth the experience. Can't wait to go back with the family on our next trip! read more

There is parking fee! I hate to pay for parking when there so many farms that don't charge. I came for the cider but I ended up enjoying cider at Boa Vista instead. I wish I would have just turned around and didn't waste my time at this farm. I paid for parking because I had my kids and mom I thought they could enjoy themselves here. My kids did enjoy the slingshot. You get 18 apple for $12. If you hit a target you get to dig in the prize barrel. My son hit two targets which won him a hot wheel car. The owner is really nice, friendly, and he plans on expanding his new farm to add a dog park and children's attraction. The ciders they make are delicious!!! We were trying to go up to Larson, but they were closed. So a nice little alternative stop. I can see why a few people chose to give this place a low rating, primarily because it's not "fancy" or they don't enforce/police COVID regulations. But it's a farm. You go for the experience of the outdoors. If you want fine dining/tasting or something fancy, go to the city or Napa. We love hidden star! The cider, especially the tropical varieties, never dissapoint. The food shop has delicious donuts. The view is lovely and it has hands down the best play area for kids in apple hill. I honestly hate when people review negatively based on price. If you can't afford it, thats your problem. I've never been to a place like this but it was one of the best hard ciders that I have had and tasted very unique compared to some of the stuff you could buy in the stores. We really liked the one that had whiskey in it as well as guava. The view on the patio is great. It would be so cool if they had one that had tequila in it because I love tequila. There's also some other fun things around this area and it's really pretty. Minus one star because of the random $5 charge for parking and the lady who was bartending wasn't super friendly.I would try it again maybe that lady was having a bad day, I feel like the staff should try to do some small chat with the customers and make their experience one to remember. read more

This used to be a sweet little apple stop, but I believe it was recently bought out. My kids used to love the little playground facade, which is covered and barricaded off now. Boo COVID :(. We come on a weekday morning, so it wasn't crowded at all. Came for the donuts I saw friends post about. They were good. The gentleman is such a character a pleasant server! His dog is definitely a people person but he said she doesn't get along with other dogs so he keeps her on a leash so it's dog friendly. Drinks were delicious, everything was reasonably priced, and the service was personable. My husband and I came on a Saturday afternoon. We had been to two other Apple Hill locations with his family that was very busy, as expected on a Saturday. We went to this location to try its cider fights and donuts. I was shocked because there was a crowd but it was much smaller than the other locations. Service was fast and friendly, drinks was great.
