Hideaway's reputation is well deserved in Oklahoma. From the original location in Stillwater, it has branched out to approximately 20 restaurants at the time of the writing of this review. I last had dinner at the Hideaway on OU's campus on a Tuesday night. As it was the summer, the place was not busy. I think maybe 5 tables seated. It's a comfortable restaurant, plain booths and tables. It's certainly not fancy or unique, but it's comfortable and the booths have high backs, which gives some privacy. Our service was fantastic. We had a young woman learning, so she was being trailed by an experienced server. Both did an excellent job. We were pretty demanding, my 5 year old son wasn't in the best mood. But, both ladies were very polite the entire time and quickly responded to all requests. 5 star service. To start, we got the 50/50, which is half fried cheese and half of the (famous) fried mushrooms. When it arrived, each item was piping hot. It was clear they were just fried. They're served with red sauce and ranch on the side. The cheese sticks are typical, you've seen these at several different places before. They're good, they're just not unique to Hideaway. The mushrooms are unique to Hideaway, and while they are very well known and good, I've found them to be lacking in seasoning. We had to add salt and pepper to our order. They're certainly good, but I suppose I don't find them as amazing as many others. Probably a me problem... For the meal, I got the Sicilian with added jalapenos. The individual is around $13.50 and comes with 6 slices. Some may think that price is a little high for an individual pizza, but you should get 2 meals out of it, so I think the price is more than reasonable. I went with the thinner crust option. The crust was appropriately crunchy and definitely thinner than their traditional crust. The toppings are generously spread throughout, I don't think I got a bite without every topping. The red sauce is classic, very well seasoned and thicker than traditional pizza sauce. I prefer this style. I could have used more jalapenos, but that's nitpicking. It's a very strong pizza, one that I gladly had for dinner the following evening. Hideaway is the rare restaurant that (thus far) has expanded and the quality has not diminished. I am assuming they'll continue to expand, because I don't know why you wouldn't when you have a product that's good and people will pay for it. Hopefully they maintain the consistency they've developed over the years. Recommended, no matter which location you're near. read more

We decided to give Hideaway Pizza in Norman, OK a try for lunch. My wife had enjoyed take-out from there before and wanted me to try it. The place is located very close to the University of Oklahoma campus. The parking was easy in their lot, but might be difficult during peak times. We were seated immediately and provided menus and their limited time specials. Our servers was a nice young lady who brought us waters to drink. We ordered a medium hand tossed "The Capone" pizza, which includes their Hideaway Red Sauce, Mozzarella, Bacon, Genoa Salami, Italian Sausage, Pepperoni, Black Olives, Red Onion, Roasted Garlic, and Parmesan Herb Shake. The pizza was excellent and full of flavor. It had an abundance of toppings and cheese. We ate half and saved the other half for lunch the next day. If you want some really great pizza in the area of OU in Norman, I recommend giving Hideaway Pizza a try. read more

I've been to Hideaway 3 times now, and as a New Yorker, I have to admit the pizza is pretty good. Pizza shops are on every corner up here, but in Oklahoma, I don't seem to notice quite as many. Hideaway is a good spot if you're looking for a wide variety of toppings. I went for a vegetarian pizza - the name I can't remember now, but it was good. Small portions are great for one person, and you can get pretty much anything you want with make your own pizzas. I ordered a side salad to get started and it was fresh and tasty. The atmosphere is ok - it's fitting for the college crowd as it's right there near the university. The night we were in, it was quiet and not very busy, though you would have thought otherwise with the wait and the service. I had the best experience at Hideaway this evening! I am Celiac so I asked, Lexi our waiter, about the preparation of the gluten free crust. She didn't know so she found a manager to answer my questions. We ordered, food delivered to the table where I proceeded to test my pizza with my Nima Gluten Sensor. Lexi came to check and make sure it was safe for me to eat and encouraged me to let her know if it wasn't so she could fix it. The pizza tested gluten free so I dove right in! Usually like this pizza place. But was so disappointed the last time. The pesto was too oily, and the major turnoff the chicken tasted terrible gooey and plasticky with no flavor what so ever i'm sure its frozen old chicken. Ive eaten at every hide away in Oklahoma *all of them in Tulsa, okc, & stillwater* and the one in Norman is my favorite! It's bigger, service is better and the atmosphere is famous! I always stuck to the traditional pepperoni an was never let down. They have an amazing chef salad with honey mustard dressing as well. I have ventured out and tried 4 different specialty pizzas and none of them were good. Stick to the old favorites here and you won't be let down!! read more

They weren't busy but was put in the sun room by ourselves which was cold instead of the main area. Fan was on high. Finally got that turned off. Tea was fresh since there was nearly no ice. Salad was very good. Ordered thin crust pizza but received hand tossed. Waitress disappeared for long periods despite no one hardly there. Had to ask for refill twice before she actually did it. Guess she forgot when she walked away. Tea picture used for refill of course had no ice but filled up with it anyway. Food was good. Need to work more on training staff. read more

Alwahs great service. The staff knows my orders and often brings out my favorite drink on their first appearance. The menu sets a standard for Pizza and Wings in the state, if not nationally. Even the portions are larger than I often see. A small is about the size of an average medium. Only really downside I have is that the food, much like most resurants, is very calorically dense and sodium dense, however most dishes do not taste overly salted, which is a godsend. As for the calories, it is a meal fit for a king so eat up! read more

What a cool place! I am always in the mood to hit up Hideaway! The environment here is so chill. The pizza is incredible! I have tried a few other things on the menu, as well, and I have loved it all! I really recommend ordering a salad with their yummy, homemade ranch, before you get your pizza! Hideaway is one of my favorite places to eat out with the family! So going to school in Stillwater, I was around the original Hideaway and pizza so often I actually decided that I wasn't a fan of it and avoided it in my adulthood. I've been very lucky to be set straight recently though. The fried mushrooms have always been a favorite of mine, but I never wanted to go to Hideaway just for them. I recently discovered the Chicken Florentine pizza with pesto sauce and am now a fan again. I don't like a lot of crust (I swear this crust is different, read better, from the original) and I hate too much grease and red sauce. The Chicken Florentine pizza solves all of these problems for me and has allowed me to once again be a hideaway fan and want to come here. I came to the Norman location as an event planner thanks to their semi private room in the back! I hosted an event here and the location was great and staff was superb. I had an amazing time and would love to come back if I'm in town again! In the meantime I'll be enjoying their metro locations. read more

Hi, I am a new faculty in town. When I found out that this place makes pizza with cauliflower crust, I couldn't help but immediately order a pizza. In the beginning the pizza was a bit plain, but the Manager went of Hr way to make sure I had everything I needed, Including Olive oil and vinegar - or anything else that I needed. I came here for lunch with a friend recently and had a good experience. Living in Norman, and being an OU Alum, I try to frequent local restaurants before I go to larger, franchised places- so I don't necessarily come here often. My friend & I ordered one of the lunch specials, which is a personal-sized pizza (enough for two people) and two side salads. The pizza (Hawaiian) was delicious and the side salads were good (not mind blowing, but not terrible) I felt like it was the perfect amount of food between two people. I was really impressed with their quality of service and their AMAZING SWEET TEA! I love sweet tea. It runs in my veins and this place does it right. The only reason I give this place 4 stars is that their decor is very out-dated. Think 1990's set of Full House? It could definitely use a refresh for a modern-feel. read more

Too bad this place doesn't deliver or else I'd be ordering from this place every week! I went to go pick up my pizza, and hated having to find a parking spot nearby. Other than the annoying parking meters, it is conveniently close to the campus in case students want to grab some lunch in between classes. I love the unique ingredients, such as Polish Kielbasa, prosciutto, salami, and the olive oil/herb 'sauce' that you can substitute instead of marinara. Compared to other pizza places, I would choose this one over others if I want the different ingredients from the norm, or was walking around Campus Corner. Why is this place a perfect 5 stars? It is the only solution I have ever found to completely curing a hangover. When I used to attend the University of Oklahoma, you could find me and my friends at Hideaway Pizza every Saturday morning without fail. Each of us would start out with a little Ceasar Salad which is quite excellent. Next, we would order the fried mushroom appetizer (this could easily substitute as a meal if your obsessed with them and want them all to yourself like me.) Finally, the pizza came out as our main course served with some of the best ranch found in all of the South. If you're from Texas... er uh Oklahoma as well I suppose... you know that pizza must always come with ranch for dipping. Altogether, this meal will scare your hangover away... at least until the next morning. To top it off, they serve Diet Dr. Pepper. I don't know why but back when I used to drink soda, Diet Dr. Pepper always made me feel better after a night of blaring "Party In the U.S.A." three kegs deep. read more

Come to Hideaway for the best pizza in OK. The crust is the right amount of chewy, especially the hand tossed. My foot likes the Sicilian, the Sooner Schooner and the ATW. Servers are typically college students and we have always had good service. The place is clean with an odd decor. It is sort of 8th grade art class meets OU nostalgia. The parking situation around the restaurant is horrible so bring change for the meters as There will not be room in the tiny parking lot. read more

No complaints, both were delicious and worth every calorie! Our server was really nice. It wasn't the fastest service ever, but it wasn't so slow that it was problematic either. I had the pleasure of taking my family out for father's day. We started off with the the Hideaway Spinach Salad. The salad was presented on a big plate overflowing with fresh spinach and romaine topped with HIDEAWAY Sweet Spinach salad dressing, toasted almonds, red onions and Mandarin oranges. It was plentiful for the three of us. After finishing up the rabbit food the Boz and BBQ chicken pizza was delivered to our table. Moved to Oklahoma recently and finally got a chance to try this place. The side salad is fresh and the fried mushrooms is a must-have, crispy outside and juicy inside. They have a variety of pizzas on the menu to choose from and we went with Little Kahuna. It was very delicious and tasty. I particularly like the bacon feta cheese combination, which gives it a unique flavor. And I also found the hideaway pizza less cheesy compared with the ones you usually get from those chains like papa johns and I am okay with that, although the Chicago style deep dish is one of my favorite too. read more

Hideaway is probably the best pizzeria in Norman. The pizzas here taste oh-soooo-good they make pizzas from chain stores like Papa John, Dominoes etc taste like ready-made/frozen pizzas from Supermarkets. My favorite is the Paradise Pie which as the name suggests is absolutely heavenly. The only reason I'm not giving Hideaway a perfect 5-star rating is due to its pricey nature. A party of 2 dining in can easily expect to spend about $30 (large pizza +drinks+ tip). So Hideaway is definitely not a place college students and frugal peeps can afford to visit on a regular basis. It is, however, definitely worth visiting once in a while to treat yourself. read more
