Updating my previous review after visiting twice over the holiday weekend…read more I'm really glad I gave this place another chance because my experiences this past weekend were much better. I stopped by during less busy times, and every employee I interacted with was friendly, patient, and genuinely helpful. The atmosphere felt much more welcoming, and I didn't experience any of the negative vibes I had during previous visits. I did have a couple of suggestions that I think could make the overall experience even better. I was staying within walking distance in Heavenly Village, so one of the times I walked over was alone with my toddler in a stroller. Since I was by myself, using the stroller was the safest and most practical option-- he's an active little guy and also getting pretty heavy to carry. Inside, the shop is cozy but tight, and after picking up my coffee, a line had formed near the front entrance. Rather than trying to squeeze through everyone with a stroller, I exited through the back patio. From there, I had to navigate a gravel/rock-covered area to get back around, which wasn't very stroller-friendly. I was able to manage, but a smoother paved pathway or ramp would make getting around much easier for parents with strollers, as well as anyone using a wheelchair or other mobility device. The other thing that surprised me was the grab-and-go yogurt parfait. I assumed it was something made in-house, so I didn't think to read the ingredient label before purchasing it. Unfortunately, I didn't look until I was already more than halfway through it, and my toddler had eaten some as well. I was surprised to see ingredients like high fructose corn syrup, artificial flavors, food dyes, preservatives, and quite a bit of added sugar. That's ultimately on me for not checking the label first, but I wanted to mention it for anyone else who is ingredient-conscious and might make the same assumption I did. I think a simple house-made parfait made with plain yogurt, fresh fruit, and granola would fit the feel of a local coffee shop perfectly, and I'd happily pay a little more for something like that. Overall, I'm happy I came back. The service this weekend was wonderful, and I appreciate how kind and helpful the staff was!

I finally decided to stop in with my 5 y/o son. The outside decor and ambiance were adorable and the merchandise had fun designs. Unfortunately, the interaction with the owner completely changed the experience. He seemed irritated from the moment I ordered a hot chocolate for my son, correcting me in a rude and dismissive tone that it was "hot cocoa" and annoyedly asking how many I wanted. I said one and then asked if they had a menu so I could see what type of coffee they offered. That simple question also seemed to frustrate him and he dismissively responded, "It's just coffee," while shaking his head. His overall tone came across as arrogant, annoyed, and dismissive over normal questions, which made the interaction uncomfortable. I was shocked by the attitude, especially from a business owner. Maybe he was having a bad day, and I do see many positive reviews, but I also noticed other reviews mentioning similar experiences with the owner. It's disappointing because we were really looking forward to trying this place. I ended up saying never mind and leaving. My son didn't understand why we walked out without getting what we came for and I explained that I didn't want to support a business where customers are treated rudely. I truly hope the owner is doing okay and is able to treat customers more respectfully in the future because it seems like there's a great product behind the business. Unfortunately, I never got the chance to try it.

Currently they have send me a double order and are prepared today to sent me yet another order. They do not answer their emails or their phone. No idea what is going on but endless supplies of 5 pound bags of coffee every few weeks is not what I want. I will cancel my subscription, membership and never order again. (I'd burn their shirt as well but it's a pretty nice t-shirt). My advice is to never order anything from them. Perhaps they will get customer service straightened out but as of the last two months it is a nightmare. New- I sent 19 emails with the exact same information-a notice showing a new shipment of coffee mirroring the order I received two weeks ago and asking them to cancel- and this Yelp review. They contacted me via email assuring me the order was cancelled, when my next delivery was due, and thanking me for my years of service. My guess is a negative Yelp review impacts them. I like their coffee. I like the fact some of the money goes to eye cancer research. But beware, you are on your own to handle subscriptions and shipments. And because they answered my emails after multiple weeks of wrestling with this I doubled their star review- from one to a two.,,,,,,,,, For reasons known only to me I am changing my review from 2 star to 5 star. These are nice people in the midst of a very stressful time.

The shop was empty & we got to chat with the staff, played chess, ate our sandwiches and drank our coffees. Pros: - lots of parking - lots of small vendor gems & plants - great food, drinks, & service Must get: - Whole Garden Sandwich w/ Turkey - Maui Wowie was my choice. It kind of felt like we were in Hawaii but there's snow outside the window.. haha - lemonade w/ matcha foam was good! (Doesn't compare to the Bay buttt for Tahoe? It's solid!)

First, this is a coffee and Kava lounge. I don't know much about Kava, so I can only speak to the coffee. They do also have some food, but I am not sure how that works since there was only a single employee when we visited. Maybe only certain hours? Maybe it just takes some time? Not sure, we skipped food on this visit. We ordered one of their signature matcha drinks and a cold brew. The single employee was friendly and doing the best she could, but it got quite busy and I could tell she was struggling to keep up. The prices at the register were $0.25-$0.75 higher than what was listed on the menu board. Always a bit annoying... The matcha was good, the foam texture is very cool, however the cup was more ice than beverage. The cold brew was fine, nothing special but still tasty. I liked the vibes a lot when I walked in here. It's filled with plants and natural light, but then I looked around a bit more and the space just felt messy. There was stuff everywhere, boxes laying on the ground, and generally just a lot of clutter in the space. Overall, I think there are better coffee spots in South Lake Tahoe. If you're looking for Kava, give this place a go, but for coffee I would steer you somewhere else.
