Not expecting too much from the coffee in one of the remote regions of California, I was pleasantly surprised by how good the coffee was. I asked the bakery staff if they made their coffee and was informed that it was made locally in Bridgeport and delivered fresh weekly to them. I have drank coffee from all around the world, nothing beats local fresh roasted coffee made with TLC. You can taste the difference when it is made fresh, than something that have sat on the market shelf for months. I was able to track down the company that made their coffee, it is made locally in a tiny small town in the Sierras, the higher altitude does something to the coffee. Even brewing coffee in higher evevation, you have to tweak the process, so roasting at the higher elevation changes the taste as well. The depth of taste in the coffee was what I noticed with my first sip and the weight of the taste in the tongue. It was not too heavy, but very aromatic and no after taste. After I got home, I researched and found that they operate an online shop. I ordered some coffee, the coffee arrived very fast, and was packaged well. I made my normal brew and it was even better than when I had it in Bishop. Great find at Erick Schat's, which lead me to finding this local roster. Overall, very high quality locally roasted coffee from the high mountains in the Sierras.

I said one and then asked if they had a menu so I could see what type of coffee they offered. That simple question also seemed to frustrate him and he dismissively responded, "It's just coffee," while shaking his head. His overall tone came across as arrogant, annoyed, and dismissive over normal questions, which made the interaction uncomfortable. I was shocked by the attitude, especially from a business owner. Maybe he was having a bad day, and I do see many positive reviews, but I also noticed other reviews mentioning similar experiences with the owner. It's disappointing because we were really looking forward to trying this place. I ended up saying never mind and leaving. My son didn't understand why we walked out without getting what we came for and I explained that I didn't want to support a business where customers are treated rudely. I truly hope the owner is doing okay and is able to treat customers more respectfully in the future because it seems like there's a great product behind the business. Unfortunately, I never got the chance to try it.

No idea what is going on but endless supplies of 5 pound bags of coffee every few weeks is not what I want. I will cancel my subscription, membership and never order again. (I'd burn their shirt as well but it's a pretty nice t-shirt). My advice is to never order anything from them. Perhaps they will get customer service straightened out but as of the last two months it is a nightmare. New- I sent 19 emails with the exact same information-a notice showing a new shipment of coffee mirroring the order I received two weeks ago and asking them to cancel- and this Yelp review. They contacted me via email assuring me the order was cancelled, when my next delivery was due, and thanking me for my years of service. My guess is a negative Yelp review impacts them. I like their coffee. I like the fact some of the money goes to eye cancer research. But beware, you are on your own to handle subscriptions and shipments. And because they answered my emails after multiple weeks of wrestling with this I doubled their star review- from one to a two.,,,,,,,,, For reasons known only to me I am changing my review from 2 star to 5 star. These are nice people in the midst of a very stressful time.
