Love higbie bagels. I ordered an egg turkey and cheese on a flagel. It was so good! Perfection!

This place doesn't care about reviews and I can see both here and in person... this wasn't my first time here but my last... I was in at 120 wait 5 minutes for someone to come to the front, I ask if the kitchen is open and it's not so I change my egg order for chicken salad on a bagel, I asked for the bagel to be heated but "it's going to take a few minutes" bc everything is already ready for closing which is at 2pm. Everything was off and wrapped- to top it off, I paid 10.65 for chicken salad on a hard bagel. 10.65....the bagel isn't even cut all the way through OR across.. girl was rushing to clean...

How is this an acceptable amount of creamcheese for a 9.50 bagel?!

After not having any bagels since February due to the coronavirus, my fiance and I decided to order bagels from Higbie Bagels, especially after years of recommendations from his stepdad. We wanted to really treat ourselves and get lox with creamcheese, which here is 9.50 a pop. We decided it should be worth the extra expense, especially through delivery. They ended up not only being disappointing but some of the worst, saddest bagels we have ever had and definitely was not what was advertised. Instead of sliced lox and cream cheese, we received catfood sized diced salmon and not even enough cream cheese to cover a single side. The bagels were badly burned and hard and were tinier than my petite hands. Cream cheese wasn't even as thick as a finger. We can't believe we paid over 20 dollars for such terrible bagels that were not only poor in construction but based on a lie. This is NOT lox and cream cheese! Taking advantage of your customers during these times is unacceptable. Shame on Higbie Bagels!

I've waited almost two years and my favorite bagel shop has finally reopened after being demolished by a Maserati. For a while, I didn't think they'd ever come back. I was so excited to see them open again this morning and am happy to report that the quality is still there. I got a plain bagel with veggie cream cheese as well as an everything bagel by itself. The plain bagel had a really nice crispy exterior with a soft and chewy interior. The veggie cream cheese had big pieces of carrots and scallions. The taste was excellent. This is exactly how I remembered Higbie Bagels. Long Island bagel shops tend to give WAY too much cream cheese for my taste, but Higbie Bagels did a good job giving an appropriate amount. I tend to like just a little cream cheese, so I took some of it off the plain bagel and used it on the everything bagel. The everything bagel was a masterpiece. So often the ratio of the toppings are off, not so here at Higbie Bagels. I also prefer when there is a little bit of coarse salt mixed into the everything blend. The everything bagel had such great flavor and the occasional grain of coarse salt gave a nice pop of flavor. Again, the bagel was baked really well. For one bagel with cream cheese and another bagel plain, I was charged a total of $4.08. This is a bargain for the quality of bagel they're putting out. I used to drop by Higbie Bagels a few times a week. I can't wait to go back again. There really is no substitute for Higbie Bagels in this area. Stuff A Bagel and Bagel Buzz don't even come close.

This place does not know how to properly toast a bagel. This isn't the first time i got a bagel that was literally burnt.

Had the everything egg bagel with plain cream. Yum! Soft, warm, chewy, and flavorful. Can't wait to go back.

I really don't think it's stressed enough that these are the best bagels on Long Island. Hands down... try to change my mind.

So I understand that happens from time to time. Second time in was a not a great experience. I believe some of the staff need to be retrained on safe food handling. There was a young girl who took my order and handled my food. She was cleaning before taking my order and then grabbed my bagel with the same gloves. And while holding my bagel she used her other hand with the glove on and tucked her hair behind her ear. After she put my bagel into the toaster she came back over to the counter and rang me up with still the same gloves on! Then she walked to go back to get my bagel from the toaster. I had it and said could you please change your gloves you just handled cash! I'm not one to make a confrontation that is why I didn't not say anything the first time around as she handle it. Then she changed her gloves and continued to pull up her pants and play with her shirt. Unfortunately, I took my food and just threw it out afterwards. But I think this needed to be addressed in a review so everyone can understand the importance of food safety. As a new customer this was not a good impression to make. The business owner/managers need to pay better attention to this. I work in the food industry and as a manager I would call it out as soon as I seen an employee doing that and retrained. Hopefully this place speaks with their whole staff to ensure the food is being handled safely. That was very gross way to start off my morning.

So completely disappointed in you , John…read more Maple St. Deli has been a huge disappointment, especially considering it's within walking distance of my home. It's a quaint neighborhood deli with over 100 years of history, which is why I kept giving it chance after chance. I've ordered from this deli many times. They have frequently gotten my order wrong, but I never complained. I simply accepted it and moved on. On Father's Day, I ordered three egg sandwiches around 10:00 a.m. I arrived at 10:30 to pick them up and still waited another 15 minutes. After spending about $35, the order was wrong. Again, I let it go. Today was the final straw. I ordered two egg sandwiches and a small deli iced tea for delivery. The total was $33 before tip. The owner, John, delivered the order himself. He rang my Ring doorbell twice but never knocked. We completed the exchange without issue. When I opened the bag, the order was wrong--again. I called and politely asked to speak with the owner. I explained that my order had been made incorrectly. Instead of trying to resolve the issue, John hung up on me. I called back three more times, and each time either he or his staff hung up on me. I drove to the deli to speak with him face-to-face. His response was simply, "That's unfortunate," and he refused to remake the sandwiches or offer any refund or solution. Everyone makes mistakes. What separates a good business from a bad one is how those mistakes are handled. I wasn't angry about an incorrect sandwich--I was shocked by the complete lack of customer service, accountability, and basic respect. After years of overlooking mistakes and trying to support a local business, this experience has guaranteed I will never return. There are plenty of delis that appreciate their customers and stand behind their service. Unfortunately, Maple St. Deli isn't one of them.
