It's just a charming, off-the-beaten-path setting. Yet it's still close enough to downtown Mill Valley. The weather's always sunny. It never gets too windy. The courts are all well-maintained. The members are very Marin (but without the snooty attitude that you find at other clubs). They have a very cozy/casual clubhouse, complete with a full bar, kitchen, TV room, and ping pong table. It looks more like a camp clubhouse from the 70s. But that's kind of its charm. They have plenty of couches by the windows so you can watch matches on their two center courts while nursing a beer. Since it's a private club, they don't allow outside guests to purchase drinks (unless they're purchased by a member). I thought that was a bit strange. I even offered to pay cash, but they couldn't do it. However, for some reason, it was ok for me to pay by credit card (you figure that one out). That being said, the lady working the bar was very sweet and poured a tasty margarita. All in all, Mill Valley Tennis Club is a lovely addition to Marin County's recreational community, and I look forward to playing there again soon.

This is an amazing team of swim coaches…read more Bella is a dedicated coach that my kids love. She instilled in them the love of swimming. She has a knack for the kids and gets them excited and motivated to swim. She loves what she is doing and her enthusiasm. My daughter was so afraid to swim. Bella was in the water with her. My daughter was on the swim team and swimming with the swim team the same year. Paul is also an incredible coach. He is also dedicated and invested in teaching his passion of swimming. My son tended to over analyze his swim. Paul knew how to get into his head and get him ready for the next event. These two coaches have different personalities and it works really well for everyone involved. They both feel that the swim team is a family. They treat everyone with respect. The clearly love what they do and it shows.

I've had the pleasure of taking a few lessons with Macall over the past few years (and I'm a relatively decent player). Though it doesn't matter how good you are (or think you are), you can always learn or re-learn a few things. She really helped me with my volleys and footwork (and all the other tennis basics that you know but forget over time). I've also had the distinct pleasure of playing doubles with Macall in matches. And man oh man, you can't ask for a better doubles partner. She rips the snot out of the ball, and comes up with shots that are beyond belief. Although she's competitive, she always keeps things fun and light-hearted. After all, at the end of the day, it's just a game. Macall is especially great with young players. I see her teaching kids of all ages, and they all seem to adore her. As do the parents. If you're looking to learn tennis or just want to improve your game, give Macall a call. She is not only a wonderful, fun person, but very skilled in teaching practical skills and strategies of doubles tennis. I learned alot from her and still go back to many of the things that she taught me during our clinics....especially when I am at net and need to put the ball away. She definitely improved my doubles game. Her clinics were very fun and extremely educational. I would recommend her to anyone wanting to up their tennis game.

The Courts are beautifully maintained and the pros and members are truly hospitable and courteous. I have played on courts in SF and in Southern Marin and hate the cold weather and wind. San Rafael has the ideal location for great tennis! MTC is the best Club to play in Marin and the SF Bay Area!

Club is not telling us when they will actually close down. We keep getting emails from management…read moresaying to disregard the rumors, that they don't know when they will close...but sometime in the coming future. In the meantime, those of us who paid to join are left wondering how to plan for when they close down and tear it down to build an entirely new club. We are also seeing lots of deferred maintenance, since they know they are closing sometime in the future to build a new, entirely different club. So much uncertainty is bad for morale, both for members and staff.

Even if you weren't coming here to exercise or play, it's a beautiful property to hike, bike, or walk your dog. As for the facility itself, they have some of the nicest tennis courts around. They are well maintained, there's always fresh water for players, and there's a nice shaded area for friends & spectators. I've enjoyed playing here numerous times over the year. Every year the club hosts the Tiburon Challenger which attracts some of the best players from around the world. It's really cool to be able to enjoy such world-class tennis in your own backyard. As I mentioned before, the club is extremely family-friendly. You always see kids swimming in the pool and playing ping-pong and other games on the grass. My only gripe with TPC is their bar/restaurant. The service always seems to be disjointed, and the prices always seem high for the food/drinks that you get. But it's a small gripe. Everything else is pretty stellar here.

My son was taking swimming lessons with Rebecca who is a wonderful teacher. Unfortunately there were many times we felt unwelcome do to the general managers rude comments. He was beyond rude and elitist. We felt unwelcome every single time we came to visit. I don't want to go into details, but it is sad how bad our experience was.

I am sure her professionalism is why all the young coaches are so remarkable! The Lifeguards are all very sweet and helpful too! I always feel safe leaving my young child at pool side! The facilities are great! The pools are always warm (particularly in the winter), the dressing areas always attended to & clean! The pool maintenance guy is always there! The parking is a little rough, but not within anyone's control, just get there early! So very happy with everyone at the pool!

I will definitely be referring this location to my picnic clients.
