I can't say enough about the Swim Staff! These young people go out of their way to help these kids develop as swimmers and as good people in general! They are kind, always aware of what their students are doing & always use the kindest and most appropriate voices! They get kids! They even deal well with less than appropriately behaving parents!!!! Britteny, the Aquatics Coordinator, is phenomenal and ALWAYS present! She is a calm voice in a sea of rambunctious kiddos & parents! I am sure her professionalism is why all the young coaches are so remarkable! The Lifeguards are all very sweet and helpful too! I always feel safe leaving my young child at pool side! The facilities are great! The pools are always warm (particularly in the winter), the dressing areas always attended to & clean! The pool maintenance guy is always there! The parking is a little rough, but not within anyone's control, just get there early! So very happy with everyone at the pool! read more

Strawberry Rec. boasts one of the best kept tennis secrets in Marin. For just $155/year (and $203 for non-residents) you'll get a pass + key to their two courts. They also request a $6 per head guest fee. If you belong to a tennis club, you know how great of a deal that is. Both tennis courts are very well maintained. The environment is a nice mixture of sunny and shady. Best of all, the courts are usually empty (so never a long wait like at some other public parks). Pro tip - bring your own water, because they don't have any nearby fountains. I can't speak to any of the other Strawberry Rec. amenities, but their pool, baseball diamond, and soccer field seem to attract a number of local kids. And in the summertime, they also host a few family-friendly festivals on the grass. If I had a young family, I would definitely take advantage of all their resources. This place is truly a community hub. read more

We have a swim membership. The swim staff is really nice, efficient, and tries very hard to accommodate the members. The reason the rating is not five stars is because the swim facilities are over utilized and members can only swim three times a week. The staff is definitely five stars. read more

Strawberry Pool Upgraded?!? I don't think so. They promised an upgrade to the locker rooms and ripped them out. What were they thinking??? Now the showers are outside in a public restroom, where strangers come in and out. Some naughty boys from the soccer field or baseball diamond ran in the girls shower and ripped opened the curtain and peaked on my daughter (talk about a safety and liability concern). We have also found cigarette butts in the shower. There is no monitoring of the area whatsoever. Now in the place of a former wall is a chain link fence, which exposes the pool members and is not remotely private. The sauna has been turned into an office and the inside stalls have been converted into two coed stalls with peepy openings for everyone to see in. I can't even beg friends to go to this pool with me anymore. It's a gross entitled expectation of Strawberry Recreation to take members money after downgrading the facility. read more

My 4.5 year-old has been going to summer camp here for about a month. She seems really happy. She's excited when I drop her off and doesn't want to leave when I pick her up. Last week she was stung on her ear by a wasp. The counselors seem young, definitely under thirty. A CIT took her to the office and when I arrived there were three counselors surrounding her. One of them explained to me how to use a credit card to remove the stinger, but clearly he had more experience with this than me, so I asked him to do it. He got the stinger out in seconds while another counselor grabbed an ice pack and still another got her a lollipop. These guys are on it-friendly, affable and they know their First Aid. You can feel safe leaving your children at Camp Strawberry and be sure they're having a good time. read more

I moved up to Marin a year ago and we've been involved in a lot of activities. The Strawberry Rec pool has been so consistent for us. My 6 year old has been in swim classes since we moved and all the teachers (at least 4 sessions, 3 teachers) have been great, peppy, and really encouraging. He went from being too scared to put his head in to now side breathing while free styling across the adult pool in less than a year. They do take time with each swimmer to improve their individual needs. We were so impressed that we signed our 3 year old up who was a screaming mess for MANY sessions. They were consistent and encouraging and eventually he had a breakout day where everything clicked. I would have stopped before this day happened if it weren't for Brittany and Leanne (the General Manager) being so patient. He says he wants to sign up for another session! I owe Strawberry Rec so much for this. Looking forward to more swim classes at Strawberry Rec and summer ahead! read more

The pool and large jacuzzi are in good condition and well-kept, but you have to think twice before plunking down almost $500 for a season of swimming. First it is very crowded, esp. in the summer and not enough recliners poolside. Second, they usually only have one or at most two lanes open for recreational swimming, so you have to fight your way through throngs of thrashing children. Third the staff is either very rude or too young to apply the sometimes bizarre rules with any common sense. One Asian lady there runs the place like a concentration camp. Kids they hire are even more of a problem. For example, we were there once in late afternoon on a cold day and barely anyone one was in the pool. The 17 year old kid still wouldn't let me and my young daughter swim in the empty lanes that were reserved for adults. The water is kept at around 77 degrees which is fine, but not the comfy 83 degrees at other pools. You pay for what you get. The pool is relatively cheap and you get the corresponding service. read more

I have a great time here. Close to the city but is our summer safety valve for the last two years, when if feels like we live in a bog, we can grab some sun. A bit short on swim lanes sometimes, but people are generally nice, and not that much more crowded than Golden Gateway. Has a slide and a diving board in the deep end. I do not think it is really crowded and lots of lifeguards so you do not feel you have to watch the kids so closely. read more

For $10 that include very good live band, plenty of snacks/food during intermission, ballroom dancing to excellent live music, you can't beat this for a Saturday evening outing (only once on 3rd Saturday of the month). Great swim lessons and great camps. my kid loves it here. the swim lessons are great with good kid to teacher ratio, and the camps are well organized and lots of fun for kids. -1 star for Pearl, the angry lifeguard who is always yelling at the kids. she stands out as the rest of the crew is happy and helpful. read more

we came here for a strawberry swinger event. the strawberry swinger event takes place every third Saturday. they have a wonderful live band playing music for the ballroom dancers. FYI- most of the people attending this event are senior citizens. the event is $10 per person with free finger food (trays of finger food will be served around 9:30). read more
