Ive been working in Paris for a fee weeks and this is by far the best restaurant not only for food but excellent service (thanks Peyton!) and generally a nice place to just be. I eat gluten free and meatless and their menu has all this covered. Great fish and a good assortment of vegetables. They even have a vegetable plate- the only one in town. The pork chop, mashed potatoes and gravy was very good. The pork chop was prepared to perfection, tasted great and very tender. I chose a double serving of mashed potatoes gravy. Service was good. I had the roast, greens, and squash casserole. It was all very good. They forgot the rolls. We tried the fried pickles and they were the best I have ever had. It is a nice restaurant with an old fashioned charm. However, when you sit down to order and get the meal there seems to be something missing. This was our first time to the High Cotton Restaurant. I think we would come back again, but I definitely would not order some of the same things. Their Fried Pickles were really good, my husband said they were the best he'd ever had and I really enjoyed them too, I would give them a 4 1/2. They did taste freshly made and that was a definite plus and the batter on them was good as well. My husband said he would give his Chicken Fried Steak a 4, he said it tasted like it was cooked on a flat top and not deep fried. We both got the Baked Squash, he said he would give them a 3 1/2, but I would give it a 2 1/2. I like cheese on my Baked Squash and it tasted salty to me, but not a lot of flavor. He really loved his turnip greens and would give them a 4. My hamburger or hamburgers ... They accidentally cooked me the wrong one, but once I shared with them it was the wrong one, they made me the right one. I would give their hamburger a 3 and only ate 1/2 of it. It was a big burger, definitely enough for a satisfying dinner, but i could definitely taste the garlic in the meat. It was just a regular hamburger and so I wasn't expecting such a strong garlic flavor, but the texture of the meat was good, just not so much the burger. I would give the French Fries about a 1 or 1 1/2. They not only tasted stale, but were on the brink of not being warm. My husband thought they tasted like they'd been under the heating lamp too long. They did offer us a dessert since they accidentally brought me the wrong burger and we both said it was a 5. It was their Caramelized Bread Pudding and we thought it was DELICIOUS! We had a very nice waitress and that always helps to make for a nice dinner. read more

This was a really great find while we were in Paris, Texas! The staff were extremely hospitable and insightful about the menu suggesting the many local favorites. We ultimately went with the Chicken Fried Steak, Chicken Tenders and baked Chicken. The servings were plentiful and the pricing very affordable. The only problem I have is that they quit serving breakfast at 11:00 am. That is an issue on Saturdays and Sundays when many people either sleep in or attend church and want to have breakfast or brunch after 11:00. Food is good and ambiance is good, service can sometimes be slow. read more

FRESH and DELICIOUS!!! What a fabulous find!! Everything on the menu sounded so wonderful but my husband and I had to go for the "Clucker" sandwich Cadillac style!! We stopped here after viewing the Eiffel Tower. It was a fabulous lunch stop. There were many items to choose from on the menu that were all made from scratch. The wife and I stopped in here on our way back from Broken Bow for lunch. Not a lot of local places open on Sunday, and we didn't want fast food, so we were happy to see they were available. The decor on the inside is retro themed, and pretty entertaining to look at. Really takes you back seeing old versions of logos of famous brands. We met Richard, the owner, who wasn't afraid to be front and center greeting and checking in on customers since they were short staffed. He gave us a little history behind the place which gave it more character than it already had. They only have 1 restroom, but it was clean and I dug the simple vibe. Our waitress was also very nice, despite being swamped with the lunch rush that we narrowly missed. I had the Southern Catch Meal, and my wife had Big Mama's Meatloaf. I usually don't order fish, especially fried fish at an establishment that isn't clearly a seafood spot, because it's usually just decent at best, but I had a hankering for fried fish ,so I went with it. It was OK, but that was my expectation going into the decision, so no skin off my back. The red beans and rice where delicious, and the fries were just how I like them. My wife ate the coleslaw, as I don't like to eat it unless it's snuck into a BBQ sandwich and it's drowning in sauce. She said it was good. She said everything from the meatloaf, to the green beans and potatoes were good, and I agreed (we always taste a bite of each others food). By the end of our meal we were both full, and satisfied. Overall we would recommend supporting this local eatery. We were told they haven't been in business long, but they could have fooled us. Great "down home" cooking. Everything I've had has been fresh, cooked well, and very flavorful. The building and atmosphere are definitely a throwback to a bygone era and neat to enjoy a meal in.
