My wife went with the eggs Benedict and I decided to try the Oeufs en Cocotte, a dish I encountered here for the first time ever. The eggs Benedict, my wife reports, was excellent. Perfectly poached eggs, large slices of a tender and flavorful ham over a croissant-like puff pastry that had been split and grilled to perfection in butter on the flat top, topped with a nicely done Hollandaise sauce. Happily for me, she left a half of the butter grilled pastry. It was divine. Likewise the Oeufs en Cocotte, eggs poached in a shallot cream sauce, was heavenly. Cannot wait to enjoy this again! Perfectly cooked eggs in a flavorful, steaming hot, shallot and cream sauce. So good. This saved the bartender from leaving the bar. Later, he returned with the bread and its condiments. Despite not having napkins or utensils, the olive oil came with a spoon to mix the ingredients. I used this spoon to pour the oil onto the slices. When the Salad Niçoise arrived, I reminded the bartender that I needed utensils. He promptly grabbed napkin and utensils, but his distraction seemed to have lasted a while. Later, he mentioned that he had forgotten the salad dressing. Despite the restaurant's busyness, the bar remained relatively quiet. The bartender was not busy preparing drinks. There was even an opportunity for the manager and bartender to have a conversation about a customer, falsely believing the ambient noise would have muffled their discussion.
