Great place to experience white water rafting. We did the combo trip on a Sunday and the water was moving. Definitely recommend going on the weekend, even if only doing the middle section. Our guide Kasen was awesome. She kept everyone in the boat until it was to time to swim/float. Lunch about the mid-way point in the float was a good box lunch. Rafted the upper Ocoee. We were told to be there at 1:30 for the 2:00 trip but we didn't actually leave until 2:45! Didn't get on water until closer to 4! Ridiculous. They also crammed us on a raft with 7 people plus the guide, two of the people were pretty large, so it made for a relatively boring ride because of the weight. I was disappointed. read more

We went on a Middle Ocoee Trip (4 hours) at the end of the summer. We had a fantastic time, and if you're looking for an adventure this fits the bill! It is safe, but the trip is exciting and definitely gets your blood pumping. Corey was our guide. The rafts fit 6 people and your guide, make sure your group is an exciting bunch - they have a big impact on your experience. The guides are great with helping you work as a team, and are knowledgeable about the river. The photos are awesome, but if you want to purchase more than one the pricing makes more sense to buy the whole CD. Also, if you're in a raft with people you didn't come with you can split the CD purchase. We were able to get a nice discount on the trip through Groupon, so make sure to check if one is available! read more

I purchased a Groupon for 6. Four in our party cancelled the night prior to our trip. I called at 7:00 am for a 1:00 water time to reschedule. Since it was a last minute reschedule, I was told I would have to pay $25.00 per person, rendering my $100 Groupon amount void. I had hoped I could at least go with my husband--at least 2 of the 6 pre-paid trips would be honored, but....no. They said they would charge $25 for the other four who didn't show up anyway. Bad way to do business. I will NEVER purchase an Ocoee trip from High Country Outfitters again. Bye Bye $100. Why couldn't they honor a 2 person trip out of the 6 without a charge? I purchased a Groupon for six a few weeks back. Calling in to book my reservation was easy, although it should be noted that an additional fee was asked for upon completion of my reservation. Unfortunately two of our group had to back out, and after an e-mail to HCA our reservation was adjusted for the four of us. We arrived half an hour early, as requested, and signed our waivers before heading down to the information and safety meeting about twenty minutes later. The young lady giving the speech was humorous and covered the essential topics with gusto. We were split into our groups, grabbed our gear (which yes, it may be wet from river water because it is WHITE WATER RAFTING people), and loaded the bus. Getting off the bus, we met up with our guide, BANDY, and he went over his commands with us. Because we only had four people instead of the usual six, he explained that we would have to work harder, but would have the opportunity to try some cool tricks. We had a BLAST!!!! I've always been somewhat of a nervous rafter, and we had one person in our group who had never rafted before. With Bandy, we were laughing, joking, and having an awesome time navigating each rapid and trying out some fun maneuvers. I would highly recommend Bandy as a guide, and definitely choose High Country Adventures! Note: I've read some less than stellar reviews on various sites, and I feel compelled to say that it takes a certain type of person to be a river guide. Most of them are super laid-back, adventurous, and just like to have a good time in nature. Often times (in my experiences rafting), guides will have a sense of humor whether it's dry, sarcastic, or goofy. People who don't enjoy humor or are wound a little tighter may need to just file that information away before their trip. read more

I'm really not sure how to rate this, but at this moment I'm highly disappointed with this company. I've been rafting many times. This would have made my 3rd time with this company. I have a reservation scheduled for tomorrow 7/13. I called to reschedule for a later date in August since we're expected to have thunderstorms every day for the next few weeks. I called and was told it would cost $20 to change the date. I said okay, then she explained it was $20 PER PERSON. So if I spent $46, plus the $7 (hidden fee), for 2 people, why should I have to pay an additional $40 to change the date due to rain. I understand they go rain or shine, but that's almost double charging. Keep this in mind when you book.. you have to cancel, or pay an additional $20 to change per person. What's the point in getting a groupon discount. OH AND DO NOT BUY DIRECTLY FROM THEM IF THEY SAY THEY WILL MATCH GROUPON, ITS A LIE YOU STILL PAY MORE. Went with a group. we paid way more (with her matching groupon, then our friends did who went through groupon) just buy the groupon if you still decide to use them and want to save the difference. Which I believe was $53 via groupon and $67 via her matching groupon with added fees. I had to call 3x times to get a credit, and still ended up paying more. I'm just all the way around disappointed with this company and next time we go rafting it DEFINITELY will not be with this company. read more

Rachel(red head) was a great guide!!! We had a blast!! As a frequent canoe/kayak enthusiast, I thought the route could have been a bit scarier(which would have been more fun) but this was a great, entertaining run!! Perfect the for beginners who want a fun and safe ride!! GoPros allowed! Use a sticky mount on your helmet. Dig a little and you may find a helmet with a mount already attached! :) Have a towel and a change of clothes in the car for the end of your run. You will get wet and possibly cold. But they have nice warm showers for you once you're done! No real way to store snacks or water, unless you have a bottle with a loop and a caribiner to clip to your life vest, which is allowed. read more

As others, I am used to getting the whitewater rafting deals from Groupon... Beware- that HIGH COUNTRY is the only one I have come across that for a group of 6 (which is what one raft holds)- you are UNABLE to use two coupons for the group. read the fine print. "One coupon per visit", however they only offer a four and a two person deal, so plan on strangers in your raft regardless. Will not use them again! I do this trip every year as a family of 6. Disappointed in myself and this big outfit, that they had this glitch I didn't catch or I would NOT have bought for sure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now I need to make two trips, one with a 4 person coupon and one with a two person coupon. not a good deal for me after all. read more

Let me tell y'all what. So I walked in prepared to die because I've never been rafting before. And I have zero upper body strength so I was just prepared to die of exhaustion or from drowning. However, it was better than I could've imagine and my guide Stewie was AWESOME and kept me laughing and not worried about my imminent death. Also he was kinda fine. My husband and I went whitewater rafting this morning and it was awesome! Our guide, Gavin, made the trip so fun. He was the absolute best. The folks at high country seemed so knowledgeable and very experienced with paddling so the directions during the crazy whitewater were clear and easy to follow. He let us push things as far as we were willing and taught us a lot about how the river works too. In a short vacation filled with cave exploring and mountain biking, this was easily the highlight of our trip. We'll definitely be back and we'll absolutely request Gavin as our guide. Harvey was our guide and he made the trip even more exciting! You could tell he took his time to do extra things with us and explain what everything was. My two nieces and I went white water rafting here a few days ago. After a brief demonstration of what to expect, safety measures, etc by a guide whose mouth was full of chewing tobacco, we set out on our trip. The tour guides are very knowledgeable and fun. Our group went with Tristan. He kept us laughing and we had so much fun. The only part I didn't like was when we had to stop and wait for other groups to catch up. Luckily, Tristan kept us entertained by trying to find spots to "surf". That was really fun. I bought the CD of pictures, which I thought $30 was a little steep...but I guess worth it since you can't take your own. I'd highly recommend the trip down the Ocoee with these guys! read more

What a great trip! It all started with my Google search for rafting companies on the Ocoee River in Tennessee. High Country showed up. After checking out reviews here, I decided to set up our rafting trip with them. I checked Groupon to see if there were any deals out there and I found one! I called High Country to verify the Groupon and they said they would match the Groupon price right then and there. I liked being able to save the extra step of going through Groupon. We arrived and got signed in. After our safety class, we headed to the river. Potter was our guide and he was outstanding. He has a great knowledge of the river and made the trip very enjoyable! 3 of the 5 people in our group had never been rafting before and he made it a great experience. We will definitely be back!! We had a group of six on Saturday June 25th, this was a Mother's Day gift for my sister and I from our daughters. It was my first time rafting and I have to be honest I had worked myself and was very nervous. It was AWESOME!!!!! Our guide, Dr. Pink knew his stuff and because of that fact we all stayed in the raft, we loved him. The guides took their responsibilities seriously but not themselves, they were a hoot.
