I can't say I "enjoy" going here because I find waxing painful. Thi salon meets all my requirements for a great salon. Close to home, can get appointments within the same week and the aestheticians are delightful. Plus you can't beat that deal, full leg + brazilian for $125. It's calming and relaxing. I love that the receptionist at least acknowledges your presence. I think I have seen all the aestheticians there and they are all nice and make you feel comfortable. The facial was ok but I booked and paid for the detox which is suppose to be a 75 minute facial. The facial started 10 minutes late and ended 10 minutes early... at best it was 50-55 minutes. Very disappointed. I was just contacted by the owner and was offered a gift certificate because of my experience... that to me is very good customer service. read more

Four years ago I made a resolution to find a new waxing place and came across High Maintenance. All it took was one visit and I've been coming back ever since. The magic is in the hard purple wax they apply to the bikini area. It's far less painful than the frightening sticky waxes that you encounter at other spas. (Note: If your spa is using sticky wax and fabric strips on your bikini area, tsk tsk on them.) If you've had a bad waxing experience or are shy about dropping trou in front of strangers give Mericke a try. After years of dissatisfying visits to scary estheticians it was great to find her. Before I heard they fired the BEST worker there I would have given them higher marks. She was the only reason why I spent money there. The receptionist is fake and does not seem to really care about what she does and makes you feel bad if you are running late. Ummm, I AM PAYING YOU RIGHT??? And the economy is in a recession, right? So why are you making me feel bad for running a few minutes behind? There are plenty of places that would appreciate my business. I went here to get a lip wax after a recommendation from an acquaintance. The staff was nice and the lip wax was done promptly and quickly. When I got home I couldn't believe it, there was still plenty of hair on my upper lip that I could see in a regular mirror. After paying someone to wax my lip, I had to spend the time painfully tweeting those hairs out. I will not be going to this salon again. read more

Finally! I found my waxing place in Seattle! I moved here about six months ago and have slowly and painfully been trying to find my new brazilian wax guru that could stand up to my previous amazing waxer! Naomi is AWESOME! I have probably been to ten completely different waxers and she is the best! She uses all hard, green wax-my fave-and does it fast, in tiny little strips, which reduces the pain tremendously! I've been going here for over a year for brazilians and I am still fully convinced that this is the best place to get a wax. They use Lycon wax, which is a hard wax that does not pull the skin as much as other waxes, but still sticks to the hair so that you will leave bare but never bruised. You can park in the little cramped parking lot right next to the salon and they will give you a free parking pass. I love this because free parking is not easy to find in Capitol Hill. The salon itself is very chic and comfortable. The receptionist is friendly and accommodating and it is very easy to make appointments, even if it is only a few days before you need one. I've seen both Nicole and Mireille, who are both wonderful. Nicole is extremely sociable, which makes you feel like you're catching up with a friend every 4-6 weeks instead of getting the hair ripped out of your skin. In fact, it barely hurts and she always does a great job. Mireille, on the other hand, gives an EVEN MORE thorough wax, so it's a trade off. Yes, it is expensive, but you are getting a convenient, comfortable service done by friendly professionals. I think it's worth it. read more

had a 75 min detox facial. it was fine but wouldn't warrant going back. the esthetician seemed new, she was really nice and did all the proper steps but just seemed to lack knowledge and that experience that leaves you dying to make another appointment. i was disappointed that for a "detox facial" she didn't utilize any of the pressure points you'd get in a normal facial at most places to encourage lymphatic drainage. (between your eyes, near the corners of your mouth, those points along the brow, ears...) usually facials come with a well-pressured shoulder and neck massage, maybe a head massage and that pressure point at the base of the skull!!! but there was none of that. there were a lot of products which made it feel more luxurious......but i have great skin and went for the experience and general maintenance more than anything. left feeling fine, skin looked good when i walked out but has been a bit off ever since, it was ok but overall i was kinda bummed. won't return. read more

I really recommend Mericke for waxing. She was great about listening to what I wanted (don't take it all off!) and she really cared about what she was doing and the end result. I have tried TONS of places for waxing (in CT, Boston, NY, LA and Seattle) and I have had really terrible interactions/results with some places and really great ones with others. I found my waxing gal years ago and have followed her from salon to salon for over 5 years. Sadly for me she is moving to Gig Harbor (too far for a bikini wax) so I had to go on the hunt again. After a friend swore by this place I tried it out. I can only recommend Mericke though, so if you make an appointment ask for her. I did get my nails done there by someone else and while it was not a great experience (she filed my nail too much and cut my toe, and she made me put my coat on and pay before she was done so i could avoid messing up my nails -weird) I must say - it lasted longer than any manicure I have ever had (6 days!) so i have mixed feeling about that. A manicure that lasts and makes it feel worth it, or the potential to be injured. hmmm... anyway - if you want to wax your bush call them and ask for Mericke. read more

I had a great experience at High Maintenance (despite not being a high maintenance type!). I had my bikini and upper leg waxed by Naomi, and it really was surprisingly painless and comfortable experience. Naomi is excellent at her job, both in terms of the waxing skills and setting people at ease. Also, Naomi was generous with her interpretation of the "bikini" wax, and was willing to go a little further than you can usually get without ramping up to an extended bikini. Awesome! read more

I have been going here for waxing for (too) many years. Naomi is in a class of her own and the spa is immaculate. I have tried other places when I couldn't get an appointment here and come running back. Couldn't ask for more: She uses a special wax that gets all the hairs, doesn't hurt (it doesn't pull on your skin), and never gives me ingrowns. She's also very thorough, hygienic and pleasant. I also like that if I mention something I want to address with my facial skin, she makes great product recommendations that work!
