The VIP and ocean front tables have a seating price in addition to food and drinks whereas the lounge is free. We did the lounge seating and I personally still found the view to be great. It looked like wherever you sat there was a nice view! Drinks and food were yum. Our waitress was really busy I think, so we had a different person come and take our drink and food order, which was nice so we didn't have to wait. Came here on a Saturday afternoon with several friends around 3 pm with no reservation and the rooftop was half full. They made zero effort to seat us because everything was "reserved." Like how are you going to tell us there's nothing available when the place is half empty?! They told us tables had a 15 minute grace period and after 45 minutes still half empty and no effort to seat us. Place is windy AF even though they offer blankets. Two stars because it's an amazing view of Venice Beach and drinks are good (although your paying $20+ per cocktail). tl;dr Pretty much in line with all the other low-star reviews. Great views and prime location with the potential to be one of the best bars in the area but unprofessional and unfriendly staff makes this place a venue to avoid at all costs. My friends and I came here to celebrate 3 birthdays and had a group of 20+ people. We made a reservation beforehand and racked up a pretty hefty tab. I wanted to buy a round of shots for the birthday folks without adding to the communal tab so we walked over to the bar, where we were confronted by our waitress and got called out for not ordering from her. She kept on repeating that I needed to order from her in a condescending way, in which I responded by saying I didn't want to add more cost to the group's tab as this was something I wanted to buy on the side. Without acknowledging any of what I said, she just walked away. Not wanting to deal with her adolescent attitude, we decided to order bottle service (~$400) so we could pour ourselves the drinks. 20 minutes after receiving the bottle, we were told that we were hitting our time limit and were getting kicked out for another reservation. What? The place was maybe at 30% capacity with tables everywhere and our party needed to leave after ordering a $400 bottle? Does this place not know how to properly utilize the space? We eventually got up, grabbed our drinks along with the bottle, and walked across the rooftop to get seated on the opposite side. And guess what? 2 of the 4 tables we were occupying got seated. The other two? Completely empty. Inconvenient parking and ridiculously overpriced cocktails aside, the staff at this lounge lacks the training and basic emotional intelligence to efficiently run this place. If you enjoy great views of the pacific ocean from a dumpster fire of a lounge, I'd highly recommend this place. If not, stay away! read more

Venice is a unique and great place, High is not. We wanted a break from the skatepark and all the tourists lurking around us to get a picture with that dirty Venice healer lady Daisy. We looked up and saw this place glowing above us in the beautiful California clouds. The food and drinks were good, but basic, especially for the price. The venue is a tad terrifying once you get there - not due to transients stabbing each other just around the corner, but due to the aggressive security guard treating us like we were the homeless space invaders from his nightmares (we were not). He'll be sure to tell you 47 times in a 30 second span that if you vape on the roof he will personally throw you out (we don't vape). Our server Lauren was happy, well spoken, and attentive. Unfortunately for us but fortunate for Lauren, they allowed her to take a 30 min break. During this time we were neglected by the entire staff, including the manager Edwin. Luckily, the rooftop wind gusts blew over their illustrious busboy Keith. He searched far and wide for someone to listen to him and come to our table. My brother Keith should be the manager of this shift, not Edwin. For ambience, views, and environment this place gets 100/10! It has an amazing view of Venice Beach and the couch seating for our party of five was so comfortable and we had our own little space! My party came here for Happy Hour and the drinks were $12, which wasn't bad considering the view! However, the drink I got which was vodka based (LandShark is what it was called) was way too sweet and tasted like liquified candy (almost like a lemon drop) and it was very difficult drink. On the plus side, the service was unlike any other. The server was constantly checking in with us and making sure we were satisfied. Anything we needed, they were there! I met up with some friends on a sunday evening and the OG Burger and fries were very good. The views at sunset were also fantastic. So these 4 stars are completely for the view and the space. My friends and I went to catch the sunset and it was absolutely beautiful. It was a 100% worth the drive out to Venice. It was such a nice and relaxing late afternoon/early evening. However, I wouldn't go and expect to be impressed by other aspects of the lounge. The service wasn't great. While everyone was friendly, it was hard to track down someone to help us when we needed it. The rooftop is quite large so I think that made it difficult for the waitress to keep tabs on us regularly. They probably need to hire more people. None of us liked our drinks unfortunately. I think I'll probably just stick to a beer or wine next time. I got the Ultimate Froze which was just rose and gin. I like both rose and gin, but something tasted off about the drink and was leaving an odd aftertaste in my mouth so I didn't love it. I've lived in the area for almost 10 years now and finally I got the opportunity to experience Sunday Brunch with bottomless mimosas at this lounge! My girlfriends company rented out a space for 10-15 people and this restaurant provided pizza, tacos, mimosas, water, juices and a few other little things - each of which tasted absolutely amazing! The bathrooms are super clean! (The mens room anyways) and to be honest, my favorite part of the experience here, in the mens room there is a window that overlooks the entire city, hahah for me it's the little things that keep me coming back lol. Just a hint of honesty would have helped. Get a copy of your bill before you pay, and READ it. We went for Happy Hour. The only menu is online - which says $8 draft beer and $8 house wines, as well as a $15 burger or chicken sandwich. We told our server that we were there for happy hour. They claimed that they are in the process of updating the menu. He said that only the draft beer is discounted, so I asked what they had on draft. I picked the hazy IPA. My GF picked one of the house wines. We asked for a burger and a chicken sandwich. They said the chicken sandwich was replaced with sliders, so we ordered those. When we got done, they bring the electronic payment thingy....no itemized cost, but I put in my email. They charged $12 for the beers, $16 and $17 for the wine, and $23 for the sliders. I questioned the bill after getting the email, and they took $15 off, when they overcharged by, as far as I can tell, by $62. This is a scam, and they know it. read more

Have drink or two and dream away to the Venice Beach skyline, just skip the food if you can. This was an unexpected rooftop find at the Hotel Erwin. We were going to dine at the restaurant downstairs but it was empty in latter half of the evening so we went up the High Lounge. As I stepped out of the elevator I said, "Wow." The view is amazing and probably one of the best in the area, as the hotel is right next to the water you and you can clearly see the south and north side of the coast. At 10 pm we were hungry and ordered food and drinks. Sliders - All three beef sliders arrived cold. We did not attempt to finish these after a couple of bites. Disappointing. Sweet Potato Fries - A large bowl of these arrived at room temperature. Kind of puzzling because even if fries are not hot on the outside, usually there is still a linger of warmth on the inside. I understand they probably have to cook these downstairs and then bring the food up. But trying to find warm remnants that these were cooked even ten minutes earlier was like standing next to Tilda Swinton in the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Philly Cheese Steak Flatbread - YES! Finally, something hot. Thin sliced beef and green bell peppers with cheese topped this almost pizza like flatbread. Mind blowing? No. But good enough to finish. Our drinks were made when we ordered at the bar and the food arrived in a timely manner. High Lounge has a quite a number of tables, couches and seats on the rooftop but I can see it being packed full on the weekends or at sundown. This spot is a tough one to rate because let's face it, the views are 5/5 stars no questions asked. Seriously one of the best places to cozy up with a date in the entire city. You will not be disappointed if you come here for the views alone. With that said, I've been here at least 10 times the past few years and this place just can't seem to get their service and food up to par with what they should be. After a recent visit the menu is definitely improved from what it once was, but the tortilla chips they seem to serve with everything are still flavorless and stale, flavor profiles are meh and overall the food always seems mediocre. My most recent visit the person I was with ordered the same thing as me and got theirs a full 10-15 minutes before me. A place like this can and needs to do better. Their cocktail and mixed drink pitcher selection is solid and nice for when you bring a small group. They aren't the best cocktails on earth but they hit the spot when enjoying the scenery and vibe. I wish the stuff they advertised like "DJs for brunch" actually happened though. Seems like this place has struggled a bit since the pandemic and they keep it pretty bare bones these days in terms of special events and entertainment. Service is also pretty hit or miss.
