Went to Salt for brunch yesterday. The service is exceptional, from the time you walk in for the hostess to seat you to the servers. Our server was Natasha, who was fabulous!!!!! We will come back for the service. We split the eggs Benedict with salmon and mimosas. We stayed for the lunch menu and had oysters on the half shell. Normally I love SALT but if you're planning on visiting for Dine LA skip it. I went today for their brunch Dine LA and all the portions were cut in half and that was not mentioned on the menu. Instead of a slice of avocado toast (1 slice is normal for their portions) they served half of 1 slice. I also ordered the chicken sandwich and got half a sandwich. I don't know if they got new management but I've dined here for Dine LA and received normal portions until today. Go somewhere else for Dine LA. read more

I settled into the perfect sunny spot outside and had the Caprese Burrata: heirloom tomatoes, pine nuts, burrata, mint-basil, chili oil, garlic toast, tomato confit, pesto, and aged balsamic. Plated like a work of art, with fresh bread on the side--bright, rich, and satisfying, exactly as I knew it would be. Of course, the Del Rey Spritz made the perfect pairing: cucumber-infused Hendrick's gin, Aperol, carrot juice, lemon, simple syrup, topped with a champagne float. Crisp, refreshing, and balanced. Their staff always make sure patrons are taken care of, helping me settle in and keeping me up to date on the live music lineup--Thursdays and Fridays, local artists doing their thing in the back room. We walked around from the other side of the marina while staying at the Marriott. This beet salad is one of the best I have ever had! Chunks of three different varieties along with goat cheese, candied nuts, marinated onions and grilled chicken. My Aperol spritz went well with that, as did Amy's Paloma paired with the ham steak eggs Benedict which she let me taste, cooked perfectly and the hollandaise sauce was great too. Sitting waterside with boats as your backdrop and a Del Rey Spritz on hand is a vibe. I kept it light with the avocado toast to start, followed by the Salmon Caesar salad. Everything tasted fresh. Service was attentive without being intrusive.I came to eat, chill and enjoy the view. Outdoor seating was comfortable. It's easy to linger longer than planned. This fine dining restaurant participates in the DineLA promotion, which is available through August 8, 2025. A Prix Fixe menu is offered, you can browse on the website to preview the menu and price. I made a reservation for four guests on their website a couple of days in advance to confirm a table and minimize my wait time. The lunch menu is $35 for a 3-course meal of an Appetizer, Entree and Dessert. Dinner is $65 and is also a 3-course meal (Appetizer, Entree and Dessert). My choices were: Lobster Bisque soup, Braised Short Rib with Parmigiano Reggiano, and Bread Pudding Souffle for dessert. The soup was perfect, the Short Rib entree was moist and tender. My dessert was worth every calorie and penny! The whole experience from the beginning to end was perfect. The hostess promptly seated us. Our Server was Natalie, she was quick and very attentive. Even though two of my guests were delayed, we were able to have a cocktail and bread until they arrived. The view and sunset was stunning. Often times, a restaurant will not seat you until all guests arrived, but it was not an issue here. The restaurant is located in the Marina del Rey Hotel. Valet parking ($10) is available. Tried it twice during my early July stay at the hotel. First night the hostess was grumpy and rude, service was very slow although place not crowded. Salmon was dry and overcooked. Second try more pleasant hostess but service was even slower although place even less crowded. I actually had to go find the server to order dessert, then again to request the check. Had to send the broccoli back to be cooked since it was tough and almost raw. Their second try wasn't any better - still too tough and almost raw. They can't even cook broccoli! read more

I'd like a refund on the last three hours of my life. I saw that this restaurant had a 3.7 rating and I really should have listened. That's being generous. This restaurant had all the potential for a lovely evening: waterfront setting, good menu, decent vibes. What we got instead? A three-hour masterclass in being ignored, underfed, and low-key irritated. Let's start with the heater situation. It's a patio. On the water. So yes, it gets breezy. We asked three separate times for the heater next to our table to be turned on--eventually, they did. But it was still chilly, and when the table next to us asked to have a heater moved between our tables, the restaurant flat-out refused. Instead, they handed us blankets like we were settling in for a campfire. Cozy? Sure. But maybe just invest in more heaters. Our server started off perfectly pleasant--until we politely asked to move one table over to be closer to the heater before we had even ordered. From that point on, the tone shifted. Suddenly we were "that table." The table next to us--who sat down after we did--got their appetizer before us. Then a second appetizer was mistakenly brought to them. When they told the runner it wasn't theirs, we jumped in and said, "That's ours." The runner looked confused, wandered off, then came back a few minutes later with it. Cool, glad our food got to tour the patio before it hit our table. Then they got their entrées before us, too. When our server finally walked by, he didn't stop--just tossed out, "The kitchen's behind, but I saw your order." Thanks for that drive-by update. When our food finally arrived, most of it was forgettable. The bisque? Lukewarm and suspiciously tomato-heavy. Trader Joe's microwave soup is infinitely better. My salad? Not bad, but plated with all the dressing hidden underneath like a secret. After a couple bites, I knew I'd need more dressing. Here's where the real test of endurance began: I sat there, in front of my half-eaten salad, scanning the patio for our server. For a solid 20 minutes. My friends were nearly finished eating before I even had the chance to try enjoying my meal. I finally caught the server's eye. He saw me--clearly--and held up one finger before running back inside (I had hoped because he'd realized we were still missing our side dish). I waited. And watched. He came back out. Empty-handed. Walked right past our table and took another table's entire order before even glancing back at us. Not a word. Not a "be right with you." Nothing. I cannot stress enough how frustrating it is to sit in front of a $300 meal and feel like an afterthought. When he eventually made it back to us, it was with a casual "hey," not "sorry for the wait" or "do you need anything?" We had to tell him we were still missing our side dish, which he said he'd check on. When it finally came out, it was decent--but again, not hot. The skillet it arrived in was barely warm. To be fair, he ended up copying this appetizer, but in my opinion, that was the least they could've done. It wasn't doing us any favors when we received our side dish after half of our party was already finished with all of their meal. To be fair, we did see him again--when he cleared the plates and dropped the check. No final check-in. No "How was everything?" Just a quick clean-up and cash-out. We paid the nearly $300 bill and left. If we hadn't already been stuck there for 3 hours, I might've asked to speak to a manager. But at that point, I just wanted to go home and eat something that didn't make me feel like I was on an episode of Survivor: Coastal Dining Edition. There are too many great restaurants in LA to waste your time and money here on bad service and mediocre and overpriced food. read more

The Avocado Hummus which is seasoned crudités vegetables, capers, pine nuts, and grilled garlic pita makes your tastebuds go wild as the flavors are fresh and delicious. The Fried Calamari with spicy aioli, lemon, and parsley has an equally great flavor profile. The entrees will not disappoint, as their boneless ribeye has your heart jumping for joy with each bite. The other options they have are great choices as well. To wash these beauties down, try their Garrison Brothers SB Old Fashioned or their margarita. Service is great as the staff is friendly and helpful with any questions or suggestions. Parking is at either the public lot or you can park at the library for free. read more

We love Salt and we go there a lot for brunch and we have been through their entire brunch menu now. Salt is beautiful and it is so comfortable you just don't want to leave. There is not one brunch item you will not love. The place is perfectly maintained and looks new, despite the fact is it not. It is just lovely. The service can't be beat. Make a reservation. Without one you may be sad and waiting a long time. We love their AVOCADO HUMMUS, their CRISPY CALAMARI and their HAWAIIAN AHI TUNA POKE. Also great for brunch is their SMOKED SALMON PLATTER, their CLASSIC BUTTERMILK PANCAKES, I order them without blueberries, otherwise it comes with them. Their HAM BENEDICT and their SALMON BENEDICT are something we also get one of. Their FRIED CHICKEN 'N' FRENCH TOAST is great. There is nothing not to love there. I've been to SALT twice for lunch -- once with friends visiting from Scotland who were staying at the hotel, and another time for a goodbye lunch with a friend moving away from LA. The real draw here is the setting -- it's hard to beat sitting outside surrounded by boats of all shapes and sizes in the marina. When the weather's nice, it's a fantastic spot to relax and enjoy the view. As for the food, it was good both times. I had the club sandwich on one visit and the fried chicken sandwich on the next -- both were nicely portioned, well presented, and tasted great. Service was fine -- not amazing, but not bad either. Prices were about what you'd expect, and honestly, I think they could charge more -- I've been to lesser places with higher prices. Overall, SALT is a fun, easygoing spot to sit outside, take in the marina vibe, and spend time with friends. Solid 4 to 4.5 stars. read more

I got to try all three starters, the calamari was standard but good, the burrata with tomatoes was fresh, and the clam chowder was decent but nothing special. The main course was a letdown. The pork ragu tasted watered down, like something I could make better at home with basic ingredients. Dessert was the highlight, the banana pudding wasn't too sweet and paired well with the fruit, and the tiramisu was solid. Service was disappointing. Our server never checked in, and we had to ask for everything. Overall, I wouldn't go out of my way to return. read more

Beautiful view of the marina, I didn't realize this was a hotel restaurant. Valet only. I was sat outdoors but there was live music that night so I relocated indoors. Outdoors vs indoors is a completely different vibe. Indoors felt cheap, and like any normal hotel lobby. I had the lobster bisque which honestly was not good at all. I had a glass of Mohua Sauvignon Blanc which was good. I didn't bother ordering anything else because I feared the quality of food, given the horrible lobster bisque and that it's in a hotel lobby, might not have been up to par. read more

I came alone for my birthday as a guest of the hotel and everything was amazing! I received a complimentary glass of champagne and an additional cocktail for my birthday. My server Marcos and the hostess (did not get her name) were really kind and wonderful. Towards the end of my meal, service got a little slower, as larger parties came in, when getting my bill but other than that, I would still recommend this place, 10/10. I ordered the Caesar salad (DELICIOUS), calamari, lamb chops (DELICIOUS), Brussel sprouts, Mac and cheese and the Yuzu cocktail (can't remember the name...Run the Road drink??). Food - 3 stars especially for the price. We chose the $65 prix fixe option which seemed like an awesome deal. The lobster bisque tasted like a combo of real lobster meat + processed/packaged soup from a can. The branzino was presented beautiful and tasted fine. The desserts tasted defrosted and not a freshly made dish. Cocktails were fine. Great place to sit and enjoy a drink with a view but not recommended for dinner. read more

Saturday night we had a small family reunion and decided to try SALT. We thought the hotel and atmosphere were really cute, and my husband actually reserved a room there for his April 2nd birthday when we first arrived thinking it'd be a great spot to staycation. After our experience, I convinced him to cancel. To start with the positives, the hostesses were very nice, no complaints there. First star was for them, second star was for the vibe. However, things went downhill once we sat down. We mentioned to our server that we were two families and would need two checks. He looked at us like he'd never heard that request before, which was a bit odd. About 20 minutes later our appetizers came out cold. Both families ordered the meatballs. They were delicious flavor-wise, but unfortunately completely cold. Then it took about another 30 minutes for our entrées to arrive, and those were cold as well. This is also a place where you have to order sides separately, which is fine, but the broccolini we ordered was bizarre. The tips were white, which I've honestly never seen before, and they were so cold and tough that we could barely bite through them. Throughout the meal we had to keep asking food runners for water refills because our server only checked on us once the entire time. A runner eventually brought a dessert menu and we were planning to order dessert, but instead the check was brought out. It then took quite a while just to close out our bill. The ladies at the table were definitely disappointed about missing out on dessert. For the price point -- $59 for my steak with no sides, this experience just wasn't worth it, especially when the food was served cold. The ambiance and water view are nice, but you can get that in plenty of other places, legit nobu prices if I can recall right. At this price level, the basics should be expected: hot food, attentive service, and something as simple as having your water refilled without asking. Paying steak house prices for a view and fire place and getting cold food really bothered me in today's climate. It was a rare treat. My brother in law had to wait another 15 mins to get his card back after paying the bill. I took my daughter to the bathroom and went to valet while everyone waited. It was absolutely ridiculous. Because of this terrible service I will not let my husband book the hotel. read more

I came here originally about 3 weeks ago for a Goodbye Breakfast for a co-worker. The staff were so amazing! We made a reservation and they accommodated us inside and even left us a couple extra seats in case we had people show up who didn't RSVP with us. In total, there were 14 of us. The food was amazing! The French toast was so fluffy and delicious! The chilaquiles were DELICIOUS, especially with the chicken. We ordered the pancakes with the lemon ricotta, and that was good, we just wish it had more lemon ricotta. The lattes were great too. The service was amazing and kind as well. Because we had such a good experience, I went back for lunch with a friend from out of town. THIS RESTAURANT DOES NOT MISS! We were seated outside on such a lovely day! My only disappointment was the pineapple juice. The menu says it's fresh squeezed but it isn't. However, that doesn't bother me. We had the half dozen oysters for the table. The presentation was so pretty and the oysters were great! It came with lemon, cocktail sauce, butter, and Tabasco sauce all on the side and presented so beautifully. My friend ordered the swordfish sandwich. It was a huge sandwich! My friend thoroughly enjoyed every bite! I got one bite and I will say, the swordfish was cooked to perfection! I order the lobster roll and it surpassed my expectations for a lobster roll. It had lots of lobster and was very flavorful. I hope to return soon! read more

Ahhh, my old trusty. Whenever my girlfriends and I can't decide where to go for brunch or a nice outdoor dinner we always picked here. They do have indoor seating, but I can't comment on it. I always like anywhere that has nice views of the water. So I always pick to sit outside I haven't been here in a couple years, but I used to come all the time. I met my girlfriend here to catch up and thought this would be the perfect place. It hasn't changed a bit Service is still great, we had the lovely, Jen. She was so attentive and wasn't annoyed when we kept chatting without looking at the menu They have a lot of great options. We went with lunch items instead of breakfast / brunch Espresso martinis Cheeseburger - no onion or tomato California turkey club cheesecake (they brought it out for my birthday) (I just noticed they have 10 percent off with check in. So keep that in mind lol. Because we didn't notice) This place is absolutely lovely during the evening when they have all their fire pits going. Today, it was warm out and they had them going. We had to ask them to turn it off because it was too hot. Again, they were great about it and had someone turn it off immediately. They also brought over an umbrella to our table without us having to ask since it was so sunny outside. I was lucky and did get up close parking with my handicap sticker. First of all we sat outside, so the experience is much different outdoors versus indoors, which I noticed was much more noisy and congested feeling; the outside is a much different story, however, and it is situated overlooking the boats, harbor and it is well heated at night. Some might call the service slow, but it's really more of a European style relaxing environment and there was just enough attention to make it pleasant. Take your time if you're gonna come here and if you're in a rush, this is not the place for you. That being said we found the food to be well portioned and delicious - in particular I recommend the pork chops and the truffle fries. Also the tiramisu was wonderful. read more

We went in for an early dinner. We started with some fantastic drinks. We had a substantial delicious calamari appetizer and shrimp cocktail. The calamari was some of the best I've had, fresh and well-seasoned. My daughter had the Ahi tuna, and I had the pork ragu. We also had a burrata caprese that is delicious and huge. Both of these were delicious; the tuna is small. We ended with burnt cheesecake and passion fruit sorbet. The service was outstanding, kind, and courteous but not intrusive. The marina side seating is comfortable and lovely, as you'd expect. The interior of the restaurant is beautiful, too. I highly recommend you check out SALT if you're in the area. read more
