But call, the hours on Yelp are not the bar hours, which are extended. The space was formerly a little cheese shop for Clock Shadow. It was pretty basic. The atmosphere has really ascended. There is a small retail section and cheese case for shoppers. The bulk of the small space has been transformed with moody, chic wallpaper, a classic old school bar and tables. The staff are all friendly and knowledgeable. Service is very good and not intrusive, but you will learn a thing about what you're experiencing. The pairings are eye opening. The cheese is exquisite. Although the cheese itself is on the expensive side, the flights are reasonable for what you get. The pours on the wine are fair and there is enough cheese to share. Dried fruit and corn are added as a pallet cleanser. Loved it! Everyone needs a cheese bar with drink pairings. The wine and beer menu as suggested pairings for cheese as well. They also have some interesting craft cocktails. Street parking can be an issue, so maybe prepare for a little walk during popular times.

My partner…read moreand I stopped by on a weekend afternoon and we were SO pleasantly surprised by the experience. The shop is split into two parts: the deli counter where you can sample and buy cheeses, and the cafe/bar where you can sit down and order cheeseboards and wine flights. We started in the deli and the young blonde woman behind the counter (I'm sorry, I didn't catch her name, but she was incredible) gave us such good recommendations. The Luna and the shallot herb cheese were to die for! The Luna won 3rd place internationally in a cheese contest, and you'll see why when you taste it. So complex and nuanced, with little crunchy crystals of salty goodness from the year and a half it spends aging. We then went to the cafe part, which has a good number of tables, and ordered a couple cheese plates. Again, our girl delivered--she made our cheese plates so that the accompaniments were all different and so we could try as many crackers and side dishes as possible. So thoughtful! The price was also very reasonable. Would not hesitate to come back here again. Fantastic service! And try the Luna!

My husband and I were staying at a nearby hotel and needed a gluten free lighter option before a spa day. I'm so glad we found Green Grocer. It was packed. Not an empty seat in the place around 12:00 on a Saturday. We did have to circle around for parking as well, but only had to walk a short distance from across the street. I got a drip coffee with blueberry waffle flavor and cream. The coffee was very good. I believe they use Collectivo. The gluten free raspberry financier was even better. It was similar to a Madeline cookie, but larger and raspberry in the center. I would drive back just for the pastry. We also got sandwiches from the deli and two fountain drinks from bar. I loved my build your own turkey and Swiss with sprouts, lettuce, tomato's pickle, onion, mayo, mustard, and sub sauce on gluten free bread. The bar service was great too. I definitely recommend Green Grocer for sandwiches and coffee, especially if you want to avoid the craziness of downtown Lake Geneva. Seems like the locals know this place is fantastic as it was non stop busy.

First visit, the bar wasn't open. The lower bar bartender told us we could go up to the roof top but needed to bring our own dishes down. Second visit, large sign at entry said roof top bar was open. Several tables and all seats at the bar were full but no bartender on a very warm day. It rained earlier in the day so many of the tables and chairs were wet. We were able to go behind the bar to grab paper towels to clean off the seats. Again had to bring up drinks from the lower bar. Lower bar tender moves like a snail. After about an hour, a bartender shows up to the roof top and says she was watching the weather and decided to come to work. The lower bar is nice but why offer a roof top bar if you cannot service it. There were many customers that left frustrated at the lack of service. Hopefully management will get it together. This could be a great asset to our small town.

My teens and young adult went with the burger and fries, which they also enjoyed. This was literally a quick trip from Chicago and I'd definitely do it again but I'd make sure to bring a cooler and lots of ice packs (which they have available for purchase).

Of course when you come to Wisconsin you are going to want to find some cheese. Why wouldn't you pick a place that is shaped like a castle? This place does a great job of having it all... above and beyond cheese! A restaurant/bar, a snack counter, ice cream, candy, bakery, liquor section, tee shirts and all types of local foods from other Wisconsin business. And FREE SAMPLES! I've been here many times because it's a great place to pull over and take a break and shop for some cool foods while on my way home from a trip to Illinois or other places south of me. Pro tip: find the bakery products in the frozen section from the Elegant Farmer, everything they make is great.

So when we were heading to Stoughton we knew we needed to stop at this place. The store was hopping on a late Saturday morning. We were there for the cheese but the front part of the store was filled with wine and liquor (they also have a tasting room upstairs - apparently it is a do-it-yourself tasting). They also have gifts and gourmet foods. The cheese counter probably had over 100 selections. There were many tempting cheeses. We selected a smoked blue cheese that we are looking forward to try. Given the wide selection we will definitely stop here again when searching for interesting cheeses even though it is a 25 minute drive.

Since it was a Monday, most of the shops and restaurants were closed, but Cheesers was open -- and they had Babcock (UW-Madison) ice cream. The owner was super nice and told us a little about the downtown area, especially the Opera House that offers concerts. Definitely seems like a place we'd love to come back to.
