    Such a cute store!

My hubby and I decided to stop at River Valley by chance. So glad we did. We love this store! They have a variety of foods. The best is their mushrooms! We always buy a big bag of baby portobello mushrooms. The mushrooms last about a week and I think the prices are reasonable. Always friendly service. Try the homemade mushroom baguette. Delicious! The store always has customers. It is so nice to see a small business doing well. Check it out!

Hidden gem on the way to Lake Geneva!

These folks are awesome. Unsure why I didn't give them five stars the first time I visited, but they've earned it. Friendly service and so many lovely organic/gluten-free treats, from apples to date rolls and gluten-free battered cod filets. There's more to this place than just mushrooms - though they definitely know their mushrooms.

To: my mushroom loving friends: if you're a mushroom lover or fresh local produce lover, you should come here. It's a small store, but packed with treasures. The mushroom theme is sprinkled throughout so in addition to variety of wild and common fresh mushrooms you can find: mushroom compost (outside), dried mushrooms, farm made frozen tamales with portobello mushrooms, farm made frozen mushroom ravioli, books on mushrooms, mushrooms novelty items, plus they sell freshly made mushroom chili (by cup). Also available is variety of farm produce as well as some organic brands you can find in most "healthy foods" stores like Amy's beans, flour, grains, etc. I bought tons of mushrooms and then made them with garlic and olive oil. They were incredible. Next day I had the tamales for lunch, now I'm regretting I didn't get more. Overall, my mushroom friends, stop by at this place on your way back from Lake Geneva to Chicago.

This place is magical. Magical. Magic mushrooms (not that kind :/) and other produce, baked goods, gigantic bulbs of fresh garlic, jarred concoctions of artichokes, mushrooms and pickled things line the walls. Many of these jars are sold at local farmer's markets, but this farm is totally worth the trip to see where your food is coming from. Mushroom baguettes are freshly baked on the premises! Riiight out of the oven, these things are so delicious. This is about an hour drive from the city, but coupled with a trip to the Kenosha outlet mall and a trip to Woodman's for a New Glarus Beer run, this makes for an awesome autumn day off.

If you are familiar with the Chicago Farmers' Markets scene, I'm sure you recognize River Valley - they show up to all the big markets with an array of jarred goods, as well as awesome mushrooms and other produce, and sometimes even prep hot food at their stand. Recently, they opened up a shop/cafe down the street from me in Ravenswood (former City Provisions location) but then imagine my ignorant city gal surprise when I realized hey - River Valley Ranch is a real place! And it's right near where we vacation every summer. I was excited to check it out and it was a fun little shopping trip. It was cool to see their farm and the store has even more of their awesome products than I had seen before, as well as lots of just-picked-that-day produce and mushrooms, as well as some quality Wisconsin meats and cheeses and gifts. Everything is really affordable and really delicious - an ideal stop if you are looking for a quality farm stand, which there are many in the area, but not all as good as this one. I highly reccommend the cheesy garlic spread or the garlic pickled mushrooms - sounds weird but they are an excellent bloody Mary garnish. You can thank me for that tip later

This is the spot in Lake Geneva (nay, perhaps the whole state of Wisconsin) to find locally grown mushrooms.

I worked closely with Meghann Streicher to build our entire wedding day plan. She helped coordinate our timeline, cocktail hour, drinks, dinner, and dessert. Throughout months of planning, Meghann and her team were responsive, encouraging, and full of great ideas--without ever being pushy when we were indecisive. On the big day, our event director, Nate, was an absolute superstar. His calm presence instantly put us at ease. He is a true professional who kept everything running flawlessly. I loved that his staff quietly visited each table to dismiss guests for the buffet. This kept the atmosphere intimate and didn't interrupt the dinner music from our DJ (Windy City Sound). The food was spectacular--delicious, perfectly cooked, and served at the ideal temperature. Our guests raved about it! SBR was incredibly thoughtful with the details. They provided kids' meals with fruit cut into cute shapes, and they even reminded us to order vendor meals (which I had totally forgotten). One guest required a dairy-free meal and told us it was one of the best meals she had ever eaten, gushing over how attentive the staff was. As a full-service company, they truly handle everything. At the end of the night, they teamed up with the venue staff to box up leftovers, clear tables, and clean. I expected to help, but they had it completely covered and sent us on our way. Save yourself the stress and hire SBR!
