But let's face it, it's not about the chips in a bucket, it's about the steak, and it was good....did I mention that already? As for the restaurant itself, is beautifully decorated, a nice, clean bar area and genuinely looked very nice. The day we went was really quiet, except for a party of about 20/25 people in a corner having some kind of celebration. It was them, and 2 other tables (including us), and they were really noisy, so I could only imagine how noisy it would be when/if full. Nice time had by all though, and the steak was fantastic. Our chef took the time to come speak with us, recommend cuts of beef and generally go over our options. This was a lovely surprise as this rarely happens. We started with "fall off the bone" ribs and the Hallumi - (squeaky cheese - wish I could find this here in SoCal... if anyone reading this knows a place... please let me know!) It was hard to tell the difference. All the dinners came with roasted potatoes greens and of course, Yorkshire pudding. It was all delicious. I have to say my favorite part is always the Yorkshire pudding. I also have a green salad, which is basically just lettuce with a light dressing. It was very fresh. We were too full for dessert. The service was excellent. We were seated right away and given water. In the UK, you can order sparkling, still or tap. Sparkling and still come with a charge. Tap is usually free. Children friendly place and they even had a bouncy castle. Ordered the fish pie which was very good. Great washed down with a bottle of white wine. Very nice pub, people serving as well as the customers were all very friendly. Would definitely come back!
