However, The Sentimentalist called me on October 8th to let me know it arrived at their shop! I was so excited! Since I was out of town, I booked an appointment for October 15th, requesting to be paired with Lauren again if possible. I parked and headed inside for my 12PM appointment. The associate at the counter got me checked in, asked if I wanted anything to drink, and seated me in my room. Soon, I was met by a smiling and sweet Lauren! She had arranged her schedule to make sure she could be there with me today. She guided me to where my gown was hanging and prepped for me, and stood right outside the curtain in case I needed assistance. When I came out and looked in the mirror, I was so pleased. I had brought my veil and shoes with me for the full effect, and Lauren had even kindly boxed my veil up for me and packed it in a nice tote bag, since I had brought it in all wound up inside the shipping bag it had come in in. It's the little things that really mean so much. Lauren, as well as the other stylists who peered around the corner to see me in my dress and offer kind words, made me feel so beautiful. I am so grateful for all of their help throughout the process of getting me my perfect wedding dress! I am absolutely thrilled with it and can't wait to wear it on the big day! I would strongly caution anyone against using Bridal Sense for alterations. My experience was…read morenothing short of a nightmare. They completely botched what was supposed to be a minor alteration and ties for a French bustle incorrectly. When I tried on the dress, the poor workmanship was glaringly obvious. When I attempted to explain the issues, the staff there were dismissive and rude, treating my concerns as if I was making them up. They left me standing there alone with the dress while they attended to other customers, despite knowing I had a scheduled appointment. To make matters worse, my dress was dirty and unpressed at final pick-up, contrary to what had been agreed. I had to seek out another tailor to fix their shoddy work which was immediately noticeable to them, which caused unnecessary stress and expense just two days before my wedding day! I did send an email requesting a refund for the failed alterations in an attempt to resolve this directly, but have yet to receive any response from anyone at the shop. I cannot recommend Bridal Sense for alterations--they clearly lack professionalism, skill, and customer care.

As it came time for me to shop for my own dress, Kelly's was at the top of my list.  I ended up working directly with Kelly after my originally assigned stylist was unable to make it in due to surprise snowy weather. Kelly is amazing - she asked questions to get a sense of what styles I liked, how I wanted to feel in my dress, and overall vision for my whole day. She pulled me some beautiful options I would have never chosen for myself, and gave me such individualized care and attention through 9 dresses. She also talked me through alteration possibilities for each of the dresses, and answered any questions me, my sister, mom, and mother-in-law had.  Kelly's is a must - knowledgeable and kind staff, wide range of dress styles and price points, boutique experience, incredible in-house alterations, and a variety of accessories. I made an appointment with Winnie, not thinking that this would be the weekend that I would find the dress and definitely not thinking that I would find my dress at the first bridal shop-- Winnie Couture. I met Erica, who had previously been texting me during the week about styles of dresses I liked and wanted to try on-- we immediately gelled. Her positive attitude, sense of humor, and authenticity were exactly what we needed to make the appointment light, fun, and an unforgettable experience. Like every bride, wedding dress shopping with their mother is special. My experience was special to me because my mother raised me, her only child, on her own after my father passed away suddenly less than 2 years after they were married. I wore one of his old sweaters to the appointment to have a piece of him there. I tried on a few dresses-- some looked good, some looked less than good on me. Erica was honest and fun the entire time. When the dress styles that I thought would look great on me didn't, Erica recommended dresses that pushed me "out of the box". Then I put on "the dress"-- the dress that I wasn't supposed to find that weekend. Its a custom dress-- my favorite characteristics of 2 different dresses into 1! My mother balled. And even Erica cried! (She told me that she'd been working for almost 20 years in bridal dress fashion and never once cried!) It was a special and touching moment! I felt like a bride-- I looked great and I know my fiancee is going die when he sees me in it coming down the aisle. The entire Winnie Couture experience was great-- since I said "yes, to the dress" I've returned for my fitting and a dress reveal with my best friends/bridesmaids. Fun, low pressure, it wasn't busy. I didn't find my dress but it was a good experience overall. My second appointment was terrible. I knew more about stock, pricing, brands and styles than my stylist. She wasn't particularly interested in being helpful and actually wandered off for a while during our 1 hr appointment (both rude & unprofessional) leaving my girlfriend to help me in and out of dresses (and even clipping me in) The third time I didn't have an appointment and was there sort of on a whim (was shopping at Anthro and had some extra time on my hands-decided to do some bridesmaids research) I went in and started looking around. There wasn't an appointment in progress and wasn't one for a few hours so they helped me out and it was a fantastic experience. I tried on almost everything I wanted to. But that's was luck. Otherwise I would say this location is pretty small and a bit loud due to its proximity to the Anthro store and their fitting rooms (it is inside of the store and located sort of in front of the fitting rooms). You will be changing the the Anthro fitting rooms, there's not a separate area for brides. It also seems smaller than other locations (I've been to one other in NYC a few years prior to my engagement season) so they have less stock on hand to see in person than what other locations may have. I think your experience can vary so much here based on who your stylist is and how busy Anthro is which.

One of the reasons I chose to look here is because I saw they had really good reviews and also from how they looked online they were supposed to have more affordable options relative to other salons. When we arrived, there was no one at the front and we weren't greeted for quite a bit though someone came up eventually. They let us know that we have to wait till closer to reservation and we were welcome to look around. Saturdays is a hectic day so we totally understood that getting in earlier was a shot in the dark. At that point we had already gone to other salons during the day and I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted so I took advantage of looking around. To my surprise I wasn't seeing as many dresses at low of a cost as I expected. I feel like the ones that were similar to the style I wanted based on the other salons were only a few hundred less, but I thought it be less since the other dresses were not off the rack. Additionally we waited 15 minutes past my appointment time and had yet to be started by anyone, so at that point we decided that maybe that just wasn't the place for us and left. Compared to other salons I worked with, I felt like the customer service was a bit more attentive there, and I was even called prior to my appointment to make sure they knew my preferences which I really appreciate. I'd go to battle for this woman. I think I had around 11 appointments with her total? Which is absurd. She was able to work around my travel-heavy job, addressed every little concern or question I had, and gave me the most perfect dress that I could have ever hoped for. I could not be happier with the end result, we ended up going down quite a few sizes or so from the original and it still looks like the dress I bought, just one that's been custom fitted to me.
