We asked Laura to design a 50th Anniversary ring that would incorporate three small diamonds from an earlier ring. We had a budget but no clue going in what we wanted. The fiance and I went in to see Laura January of this year with a 3 week deadline to design, create and deliver the unique engagement ring of my dreams, and boy did she deliver! Laura was professional, easy to work with and extremely savvy in the diamond business. PLUS she came through, having me pick up my ring just as I was on my way to the airport (introducing my fiance to my entire side of the family without a ring was obviously out of the question.) A few things for those out there considering Laura: 1. Call Laura if you are looking for something special, unlike the generic options of shopping at The Shane Company or Bhindi Jewellers. 2. Make an appointment so that Laura can have stones to your fancy and in YOUR range to show you; you can go as big or as small as you like but give her time to prep and she will WOW you. 3. A few images and/or description is helpful to communicate what it is you want. And if you don't know what you want, she has a showcase filled with gorgeous stones to show you, which can get you started. 4. We tried shopping with another independent diamond "specialist" and were confronted with ridiculous, low ball S2 and under stones, dim lighting and a nasty refusal after we asked to inspect the stones closer. 5. Laura's office allows for an abundance of natural light to stream in, so you can inspect the stones to your heart's content; she's honest and won't try to short you by using dim lighting or other strange sneaky sell tactics. Laura is the absolute greatest! When I arrived in her office she immediately made me feel comfortable and unrushed. Even though I spent almost a year educating myself about diamonds, she spent TWO HOURS giving me a one-on-one tutorial about everything you would ever need to know about selecting and purchasing a quality gemstone. We proceeded to look at a wide variety of diamonds (ALL CERTIFIED) and see the difference in them side by side. It was reminiscent of being in a lab class at school. When I tried to get every other jeweler to do this type of comparison, they all balked! (BEWARE!) I even told Laura that I would be comparison shopping and would not make a purchase that day. Instead of discouraging me, she told me of sales tactics to watch out for while I shopped! Boy, was this handy! I quickly learned the difference between a salesperson and a gemologist. After having people attempt to sell me a different cut of diamond (assuming that I didn't know the difference) to trying to sell diamonds with no or unreliable certifications for the same price as Laura's certified stones, I returned to her to select my diamond and have a ring custom made for my fiance. As a 24 old at the time, I had just started browsing engagement rings as my girlfriend and I had been together for over 3 years. After going to a couple of other local jewelers in Atlanta first, I didn't feel too confident in any of them yet as I was looking for a jeweler that could not only put together a great product, but also pair that with some basic diamond education and excellent customer service. When I came across Laura, I could tell that my experience would be much more personalized than other places.
