Then we heard about the City of Marble Falls efforts to improve its own public animal shelter. We contacted the main person with the shelter, a police department investigator named Rachel Baldree. Ms. Baldree was very generous with her time, explaining the shelter, its significant budget problems (annual budget from the city of only $2500), its successes (adopting out more dogs than ever this year, at a very low cost to adopters) and its great need for donations for maintenance & repairs. We've visited the shelter. It's extremely basic, but it's the only public resource for strays and animal control dogs & cats. There's a HUGE need for donations for its current improvement plans (a yard & fence, better plumbing, better interior, more kennels, veterinary assistance, etc.). They have a general no-kill policy except for aggressive or very sick animals. If you like to support animal shelters, I can't think of a better place to put your money.

By 3P I was at the shelter doing a meet and greet with my dogs, and filling out paperwork. Darlene, Terrie and Michelle are all top-notch!! They make sure you are legit and that you and your current animals are a good fit with the new animal. These ladies and the other staff I didn't get to meet clearly work very hard at this shelter. It was beautifully maintained and the animals are clearly well cared for. They work with other shelters and Texas Humane Society to rescue dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens. If you are looking for a pet, I highly recommend checking here and if you want to help a shelter, your donation couldn't go to a better place! I later found out that thu hadn't been finishing their food at Lucki dog either. I wish they had told me that when I was picking them up. The dogs were also stand offish until the following day and my dogs are cuddle bears. So, this was very odd. Still lucki was cheap and this was the only time my dogs fell asleep in the car after their stay. So I'm stuck on a fence with the place.

Two of the three are on chronic medications. I could tell that they had been given their meds as directed, and they were in great condition. Lucki even had them waiting for me in the lobby when I arrived! I like that the business is family owned, and I could tell they are true animal lovers....not to mention, the price is very reasonable compared to the Austin kennels. I would definitely leave my dogs with this kind family again.

But because someone left a message on their machine they told us they were "holding" the puppy for them. They had no idea what time the other people were going to be there. And the ladies were pretty rude about the whole situation. In my profession, if you get there and have the money first....its yours. Don't waste your time or donations on this place. They need an attitude change and need to update their website to be specific about how they handle things.

The amount of money they claim to have spent getting one of their dogs back from it's owner is inconsistently varies quite a bit. They have quite a few fundraising pages and are quick to pepper the internet with requests for donations. Their interaction with me was extremely suspect. I saw their dog, Nolan, on petfinder. When I emailed to ask about his availability, heartworm status and age, I was told he has to be adopted with their dog named, Lulu and I did not receive an answer about his current HW status. I asked for more information about Lulu. I found out that both dogs had been heartworm +, but Cindy Marabito wouldn't tell me if they had their vaccinations or had been cleared by a vet after their "holistic heartworm treatment." There was or is some kind of messy legal/custody battle over Lulu. Cindy wouldn't tell me if it had been sorted out. I had to ask: 4 times if they were fixed. I never got an answer, but Lulu's petfinder page now says she is spayed. 4 times if the legal problems with Lulu's custody were resolved. I still haven't gotten an answer. 3 times if they were now heartworm free. Finally Cindy claimed that Nolan was healed with raw and herbal diet/treatments. So I asked if she had verified with a vet that the treatments were successful. She refused to answer that too. 2 times if they were vaccinated, I never got an answer, but Lulu's petfinder page now says she is UTD on vaccines. Cindy sent this: "Both are raw fed and homeopathically treated, so would need to continue that lifestyle. Nolan was hw positive when we got him and totally cured with herbal..a raw fed dog treated with herbal will not become infected with hw or other parasites or disease..take a look at our website .... Health Page. It's amazing..none of our dogs go to conventional vets or ever get sick, get fleas, cancer, etc." I'm certainly not against raw or herbal, but this all just sounds like a scam or wingnut on the loose.
