We came here 3 times during our 3 day stay. We absolutely loved this bar/restaurant! The bartenders were so friendly and outgoing and we especially loved Robin, Patricia, and Josh. They have a late night food menu and stayed open pretty late. No persons under 21 allowed after 9 pm. The gravy for the country fried steak was amazing. Free pool table

Came for the beautiful loaded Bloody Mary, likely won't return due to the most overcook steak I've ever received in my life. Very nice local small town vibes with friendly staff.

New owners. Love the vibe of this place. The service was great, and that is what earned the 5, they were out of Raineer beer, but my wife wanted one so they had a case delivered. Hamburger steak with two sides is a great deal. Chili had too much salt. Full bar. Best choice in town.

Not only is the service great and friendly, the food is amazing. So much so that we came here two times on our getaway to Mt. Rainier. One time we got the cheese sticks and they were amazing. Their ranch is delicious with them. The next day we got their club sandwich with onion rings as well as wings. We got garlic Parmesan and hot honey garlic. The club sandwich was one of the best I've ever had. Fresh, delicious ingredients and the wheat bread was toasted perfectly! The onion rings were the perfect amount of breading and crispiness. The wings were also phenomenal- cooked to perfection with amazing, flavorful sauces. If you are in the area, I couldn't recommend this place more!

Got a bowl of clam chowder & a turkey sandwich. So so yummy. Sandwich was so big, I only finished one half with my husbands help.

Pretty chill place. We went out for dinner & it was the last thing open around there. Seated ourselves & got menus super fast. Staff was kind. Food was good, Beer was cold. Good stuff!

Seconding another review regarding the poor reviews from years ago, this place is great! Come hungry, the portions are big. Patricia was all around welcoming and attentive for our party of 6. Try the blueberry and banana cream pies, they were spectacular.

I do not think it is fair to the newly reopened Highlander to be plagued by reviews from 5-10 years ago. I almost passed this place up but decided to give it a shot since the newer reviews were good, and I am glad I did! I ordered the country fries steak (this Texan's favorite meal besides meatloaf) and it was superb! The portions are huge to where I asked for a box the minute my food came out. I may go back tonight to try the hamburger steak, and eat both leftovers after I head back to the city. This is definitely a must try place!

In fact, we were pleasantly surprised at how good the burgers were. The fries were really good as well but I'm on the fence about the onion rings. The sauce they serve was really good and the drinks, well, it's a bar so... Elbe is such a tiny little place but very quaint and cozy. If you're on your way through, I highly recommend stopping and supporting the locals. This bar is small and seating is limited and that's really my only notes. Maybe they could expand the building or build a large outdoor seating area. They have enough land to do so. I can envision an outdoor stage with live music events during the summer months and possibly a collaboration with the train museum or the boutique train car motel. They have a lot of potential in Elbe to become a bustling tourist destination if they implement some upgrades. People there seem friendly and the bar staff was no exception. We felt welcome and right at home. If you haven't been or haven't been in a while, get yourself on over to the Eble Bar & Grill and dig into a delicious burger! Thanks for reading and Cheers!

We come mainly for brunch on Saturdays at 11:00 am (occasionally Friday or Sunday) and sit in a booth. Here about every 6 to 8 weeks and shocked I haven't written a review yet! Server / main front of house person always remembers us and is kind and super friendly, even when she's busy. It's a diner with reasonable prices - I've had the breakfast sandwich, corned beef hash, mix of Ala carte side options, main breakfast with meat, omelette or scramble... my dad usually gets the 55+ 2 egg Denver omelette and my brother will change it up, too. It's also kid friendly, if you want to bring a kiddo. Food is always good, I try to remember not to eat a first breakfast at home in the morning when we come out so I'm hungry. Nice to have a regular spot to go to when we visit where we know the food will be good and the people are nice.

The place is pretty run down which isn't an issue for me if service and food are decent. There was one waitress for the entire joint. She was nice but overworked and therefore took her a long time just to stop by our table. Ok, that's fine. The real problem was that there was only one cook too. By the time I realized the mistake I had made by staying here, it was too late. It took 55 minutes from when we sat down to when we were served lunch. There were maybe 4-5 average size parties of people there in booths of about 2-5 people each. The dessert menu was entirely cake and pie from the dessert counter but the rotating dessert refrigerator had literally one pie in it and a piece of another pie that looked like it had been in there awhile. The pie refrigerator itself looked unsanitary. The bathrooms are in desperate need of basic maintenance/renovation--I pee in a lot of pit toilets and honeybuckets so a gross bathroom doesn't usually phase me, but being a foodservice business, the condition of the bathroom was alarming. The food was as expected--the chicken ranch bacon wrap was very large but I didn't taste much chicken, mostly just mayo, lettuce and bacon bits. The burger looked decent and the fries were standard frozen deep fried which were fine. I really do like to support mountain diners when I come off long hikes, but this one didn't hit the mark this time. Even just one more extra hand would have made a world of a difference.

Seems like the bad reviews are from haters. People who came in with a chip on their shoulders. I didn't. Why? I have been around the Goth and Dark Metal community for years. I know them. While they may look scary and mean to most "normies". They are actually some of the nicest and open minded people you could ever know. In all I felt welcomed here even though we were not dressed for the part. The staff here were very welcoming and friendly. The service was prompt and excellent. The drinks, especially the nonalcoholic drinks were good. We came in on a movie night. They were showing an art film whose name I can't remember. The film was very artsy and deeply interesting. I and my wife really enjoyed it. The BIGGEST kudos to the Cryptatropa Bar is actually showing an independent art film. I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. Growing up there were lots of theaters that showed art films. Then after the 90's they all went away. Leaving only a few mega theaters who they all show the same movies. This place is a RARE GEM for doing this. Independent film makers don't really have outlets to show their films anymore. THANK YOU!!!

We arrived around lunchtime, and got seated right away. Both the exterior and interior had a rustic vibe, with a wood stove and beautiful wall mural of the mountain. I started with a Hot Cider to warm up, which really hit the spot. My friend and I ordered the Chicken Parmesan Sandwich (daily special) to share, as well as a slice of the famous Blackberry Pie. The Chicken Parmesan Sandwich was solid, but nothing too memorable. The cutlet was a little thick for my preference, but it got the job done. The real star, of course, was the Blackberry Pie! The texture of the crust was perfect and the filling tasted delightfully homemade. We got it without ice cream since it was chilly, but I'm sure it's fantastic with a scoop, as well! They also had some cute local gifts for sale, and I snagged a bar of artisan blackberry soap. Service was friendly and quick!
