I loved the vet himself. I don't really remember his name. Although what made this experience terrible and painful was the lack of sympathy from the vet techs who did my dogs bloodwork. I took my chihuahua in for a UTI. And at first they were trying to bill me 900 dollars which is absurd. But, it was the lack of care for my dog which made this awful. My dog has no teeth, so her tongue hangs out. My senior dog is very sensitive and doesn't do well with people besides me and my boyfriend, and I told them that. But when they took her back to do her bloodwork, which was very painful for her, all I could hear was the techs laughing and laughing at her while she was crying and screaming. It was already an emotional time for me, since she was peeing blood I was expecting the worse. And hearing them laugh and make fun of my dog while she is in pain, was a huge stab to my trust of this establishment. read more

Friendly and fast service No headache with filling out lots of paperwork. I initially called bc my puppy was having diarrhea and not eating. They told me to switch his food brand and suggested I purchase some food from there and wanted to do fecal test to check for worms. They ended up saying he caught a parasite and gave him 2 medications. The nurse said they had to do the expensive fecal testing just to be sure He then stated I should purchase training for my dog and I politely declined I had to ask for the amount of the medicine and my total ending up being $175 While checking out a random nurse ran out and said oh yeah they saw a flea and he will need flea preventative as well. They never mentioned checking for fleas or seeing any while in the room It just seemed like they were trying to over charge me or add on additional things to my bill and I was unhappy about that. read more

I am writing this review to highly recommend Dr. Triggs at Highlands-Eldorado Veterinary Hospital if you are looking to get a TPLO surgery for your dog's ACL tear. My regular veterinarian diagnosed my two and half year lab mix with a torn ACL and recommended me to DVSC. The cost there was projected to be at least $5000 per leg. After waiting a few months hoping for the injury to be only a sprain, I witnessed my dog to get as bad as hoping on three legs. I finally decided to go seek professional counsel and treatment. I knew I couldn't afford the high cost of DVSC, so I decided to look on google for alternative options. I am so grateful for Highlands-Eldorado to pop up and their website lured me in with their low cost guarantee and informative descriptions. I also was content with all of the positive reviews I saw. The moment I came in to the El Dorado office, Dr Triggs and his staff made me feel beyond comfortable with how kind and informative they were. Dr. Triggs was extremely thorough with his description of the injury and gave me two surgical options, with detailed explanations while describing the cost/benefits for both options. Dr. Triggs performed a TPLO surgery for my Dog's left leg's torn ACL. The surgery went extremely well, and he helped me with a postoperative rehabilitation plan for my dog. After 8 weeks, I am so happy to say that I had my dog back and running the way she used to. After a couple months, I noticed her limping/protecting her non-surgical leg. I realized the other leg had been torn which was predicted through my own research and by Dr. Triggs. I just had surgery for the second leg nine days ago. The staff isn't very customer service focused. I found them pretty short and not very friendly. They didn't tell us about the cost of tests they were running until after they did them. The typical visit charges also seemed expensive compared to other vets in the area. After running tests, they never called with the results. We had to call and hunt them down. We added two new pups to our home this past summer and while we spend a lot of time traveling and not the kind where you're surrounded by amenities on every block. We vaccinated on time from six weeks- five months when we were officially back in Mckinney for the pups to meet Dr Taylor...we were criticized for vaccinating on our own and not having them do it, they refuse to put it on their shot records so it appears as if they've had no shots, they didn't hesitate to spay both our pups last month but today refused to do a nail trim. I've had a dog with cancer $$$$, a dog with a congenital disc bulge $$$, a dog who had a pancreatitis attack$$$$, a dog who had a tumor removed $$$ and bc I refuse to have my pups re-vaccinated by them and my "records" aren't from a vet and the vaccine stickers I provided where tossed back at me shows me it's not about my animals, it's not about anything except money. I've contacted three other Vets since my phone call this afternoon to inquire about a nail trim and they all said my shot history and vaccine stickers were adequate. I've heard of people quitting their vet or dr and now I understand why. read more

Our cat was near death because of a foreign object that was lodged in his intestines. We rushed him to the vet at 7am when we woke up to find him lethargic, vomiting, and basically non-responsive. Another disappointing visit at Highland Eldorado Veterinary Hospital. I made the difficult decision to switch veterinarians after my prior visit so I called to get a copy of my pet's most recent blood test results. I was told I needed to sign a consent form, which I agreed to do. I asked if I could stop by to pick up a copy of her blood work from last December. When I arrived, the records were not ready, and I was told that Dr Taylor has to review the test results before I can have them to make sure the results are accurate! The blood test was done last December and just NOW they are checking to see if it is accurate? I can get copies of my own blood work immediately once the lab sends them back to the doctor. I wonder why my dog's lab reports now need to be checked for accuracy, especially since the blood work was done prior to her ACL surgery. I would have thought that would have been checked prior to a major surgery! So over the last 10 months they are making me wait another week for something that should already exist and could just be printed out? This practice was once wonderful and now management and quality of the care has gone completely downhill. read more

Giving 5 stars for Dr. Taylor and his staff! My fur baby woke up unable to walk with an incredibly swollen paw after a previous injury 'treated' by another vet elsewhere. Dr. Taylor was able to see us that day and made my sweet girl comfortable and happy. You definitely pay for the services (it's an animal hospital, it will be pricy) but it is worth the attention and care your pets receive. UPDATE: I love Dr. Taylor!! He was so great and so sweet with our fur baby. He didn't try to take advantage of us and over charge us. All of his staff is very sweet and attentive, caring for our pup as if she's their own. We have been coming to Highlands for five years now and just added a second dog to our home. Dr Taylor and staff are extremely warm and caring. They truly love what they do and it shows in the way they treat our dogs. We have multiple friends that use Highlands Vet and they have all experienced the same level of service. Most people don't know that Dr Taylor donates his time to law enforcement dogs in the area. This is not something he advertises he just does it because he is a good person in our community. Go to a vet is expensive and having a pet is not cheap. Over the last five years we have experienced very little change in the amount charged for services. My 5 1/2 month old puppy had been having various digestive issues and diarrhea for over six weeks, and the vet I was using didn't seem to be taking it seriously, and I wasn't getting any answers. A friend of mine recommended Highlands-Eldorado Veterinary Hospital (HEV), so I called and made an appointment. The staff was very friendly and took my concerns seriously. After doing basic testing, they were able to determine what was wrong, and we received the necessary medication to correct my puppy's issues. The costs for the service were quite reasonable, and more importantly, I knew I finally had an answer to correct my puppy's digestive issues. Been to a lot of vets - others are great but this one the best We just moved to South Carolina, and I miss the people at Highlands-Eldorado. *****The BEST part about Dr. K and Dr. Taylor is that they assess the situation and explain fully what's going on with your pup. They tell you all of your options. I would ask "what would you do if this was your pet?" and I believe they gave me very honest answers. They understood that I would do anything for my pup but also that no one can spend an unlimited amount of money on their animal. They understood that the token veterinary answer for an issue or ailment may not be the best solution for you. They understand the limits of older animals, and are genuinely concerned with their quality of life. They don't rush you when you ask questions. I always left knowing they gave my Fenway the best care. I knew they were awesome, but I didn't realize how great they were until we started searching for a new vet. The doctors and the staff so friendly and really love on your animal. They treated our Fenway like she was their own. They offer advice and are always ready to answer questions, and they don't lose their patience with you (even when your so worried about your dog that you can't think straight). We were able to get a same-day appointment for our little poodle, Buddy. I had some concerns about his lab work from a different provider, plus some odd discoloration on his skin. Dr. Taylor and his staff were excellent. I have some medical background, and Dr. Taylor talked to me almost as a colleague or a student (which I loved), instead of resenting that I knew a few things. They could have been judgmental about the few fleas on Buddy (isn't that always the way? you hope they are clean, and find out they brought friends to the appt!). Making my appointment to see Dr. Taylor was easy. The office staff is friendly and listened to what I was concerned with about my cat. We called upon arrival and when a room was clean, a technician came out to take my pet. I wanted to come in and bring my daughter, and this was not an issue. One thing I look for in a review is caring staff. Dr Taylor and one of the techs were nice and caring but Dr Taylor has only been there 1 time out of 6 or so visits. The other vet and staff just act put out and unhappy. Discussions over charges in a wide variety of situations, managing a chronically ill dog, have always managed to leave us feeling defensive. So far, so good. Charlie gets his routine vaccinations here, and they've treated him for skin rashes before...it took awhile but finally we got that cleared up. The last time I brought him in, he didn't see a vet...the tech was able to square us away and get us on the road in minutes. I love that they let Charlie go bat crap crazy running from one side of the lobby to the next. He has ADHD, and is hypersensitive to sensorimotor stimulation...it's always nice to have people understand him, lol. read more

It ended up costing our sweet girl her life and my husband and I will forever blame ourselves for bringing her here for a "routine procedure"....only to get a phone call stating they had lost her and "do you want us to continue to try life saving measures?" despite the fact that we had already signed off on YES in cases of emergency on the standard pre-op paperwork.......PLEASE DO NOT let your pet suffer the same fate ours did. read more
