Update - they replied to my review but still have not sent me my x-ray individual scans. ----------------------------- I went in for a routine check up and cleaning. The dentist seemed to be in a rush. As such, it was the fastest cleaning I've ever experienced. She said she found many cavities and suggested filling all of them (which would have been out of my budget). I asked her if there was a way to prioritize certain teeth but she refused to make any adjustments, instead suggesting a payment plan. I probably would have gone through with her plan if it wasn't for her also pushing for teeth whitening and Invisalign even though I never expressed any dissatisfaction with my teeth's alignment and coloration. Pushing extra elective procedures made me uncomfortable and suspicious of the necessity of all these interventions so I got a second opinion from two other dentists that some friends highly recommended. I understand that different dentists have different approaches, but both of the other dentists were shocked to hear that Dr. Kim wanted to drill big holes in my teeth to fill cavities that were too small to even work on. In fact, for over half of the teeth she wanted to fill, the other two dentists said they do NOT recommend me to fill them right now. This was all complicated by the fact that they would not send me clear X-rays to share with the other dentists. I had to go through multiple back and forth emails with the highlight dental studio and though the initial emails were polite, their communication became quite passive aggressive after I stated my wish to get second opinion. They even tried to use parking fees as leverage for my X-rays when it is my legal right to get my own medical record. In fact, I'm still waiting on the individual scans from them and I'll come back to update once/if I get them. I get that they provide small thoughtful services here and there like the weighted blank and stuff, and maybe that's why they got all these 5 star reviews, but the foundation of their care needs to be with focusing on good dental care, without pushing expensive elective procedures and without allowing their personal feelings to dictate their interactions with patients. P.s The only star is for the dental hygienist who was patient with me. read more

I went to Dr. Kim this past week for a dental cleaning. It had embarrassingly been years since I had a regular cleaning. I felt so welcome by the staff at the front desk. The check-in paperwork was super easy (on a tablet) and I got a hot coffee while I waited (major plus for this tired mama). Before seeing Dr. Kim, I had X-rays and a comprehensive scan taken. At other offices I feel like you get it done and then the dentist just says "all good" or something vague like that. But Dr. Kim sat down with me, asked me questions about my dental/medical history, and then gave me the most thorough evaluation of my X-rays and scan. I left feeling really confident and informed about my oral health. I didn't feel like any treatment or "extra" was pushed on me and the entire care was really genuine. I have really bad tension headaches from grinding my teeth at night and the treatment plan that Dr. Kim and I came up with was awesome, something I am very comfortable with, and I can't wait to get it started! I love that Dr. Kim has Botox, teeth whitening, and Invisalign as options beyond the regular dental care. I highly recommend this boutique dental office experience. This review is long overdue. I've been with Dr. Kim for about a year now and could not be happier. The entire staff is warm and friendly, the office environment is comfortable and they take care of you every step of the way. They offer lip balm, a neck pillow, and even a weighted blanket to help you feel at ease. Dr. Kim is meticulous and gentle, and always has a positive, upbeat attitude. She explains everything thoroughly, never pushes for unnecessary work, and answers all my questions patiently. She always works with me to make sure I'm comfortable with the pace and cost of the work, and the office staff is very helpful with scheduling and making payment arrangements. I stopped wearing my Invisalign trays for weeks, but she was able to help me get back on track without any additional charges. I see her regularly for Botox injections to stop me clenching and grinding my teeth, and it has been absolutely life-changing. Highly recommend Highlight Dental Studio. I had a cleaning, laser for gums, several fillings, and some wire removed (from braces). A really, really great experience from beginning to end. [Office] The office is so cute and stylish. The chill Korean music (think Baek Yerin/ Hyukoh/K-drama OST vibes) being played throughout adds to a really comforting and laid back environment (like I was back in Seoul at a hip cafe!). You can tell Dr. Kim has excellent style and has thought about all the small details. For example: Glossier lip balms pre-/post- procedures for dry lips. What a nice little touch, right? [People] Sara at the front is so sweet and an excellent communicator via email/phone/text and of course in real life. The two dental assistants were welcoming, attentive, and so kind each visit. And of course, Dr. Kim is just FANTASTIC. You can tell she is very knowledgeable, passionate, and honest about her work. She's extremely thorough and consistently explained what she is about to do/what she is doing. What a wonderful women led dental practice in Ktown! So I chipped my front tooth well over 3 years ago and have been rocking a temporary composite ever since (I know, I'm the worst). I've probably gone through 4 temp fills since they would periodically break, and spent well over what it would cost to just get a veneer. But I'm a procrastinator and the thought of getting veneers felt daunting. After the 5th chip, I decided I needed a more permanent fix. I found Dr. Kim through my insurance and wow, so grateful for their recco! I got teeth cleaning, composite, teeth whitening and 2 veneers. The whole journey took about 2 months and the final results were INCREDIBLE!!!!! I honestly didn't realize how huge of a difference having nice teeth could make on my self esteem. I've never been a teeth person but now I get it. The whole team at Highlight Dental was amazing. Sara has been so accommodating, very flexible with scheduling. The dental assistants are so sweet! TLDR; If you're looking for a dentist, THIS IS IT. Just go. GO NOW. I'm embarrassed to admit that I haven't been to the dentist in a good 10 years or so (don't judge me lol) but as I approach my 30s I wanted to be more proactive about my oral health. I was first drawn to Highlight Dental because they offered an affordable monthly plan for patients without insurance. So I took the leap and made an appointment - Sara, who works the front desk/scheduled my appointment, was patient, informative, and eased a lot of my anxiety. First thing I noticed when I arrived for my appointment was how cute, modern, and CLEAN their office was. As a clean freak, that's an automatic plus for me lol. During the actual appointment, Ira, the dental assistant, and Dr. Kim took time and care as they examined my teeth and explained my overall oral health. They regularly checked in with me to make sure I felt comfortable and understood what they were saying. Never once did I feel rushed even though I had LOTS of questions heh heh. I honestly was expecting to leave the appointment feeling overwhelmed and defeated because I haven't been taking care of my teeth, but thanks to Highlight's amazing team, I'm actually pretty excited to start this journey and come back again!
