Don't move here if you value peace and quiet. Property managers do not care about loud neighbors repeatedly breaking the lease and village noise ordinance. Instead of kicking out those tenants that repeatedly make constant noise at all hours of the day including after hours (with video proof I've submitted over 25 videos), their solution is that I move out. The parking here is terrible. If you aren't home by a certain time, good luck finding a spot. For the past few weeks I've had to park my vehicle 3 buildings away which shouldn't be the case since there are plenty of parking spaces. I've seen multiple vehicles around the complex that are abandoned, expired tags, flat tires, and haven't moved for weeks. I see why most complexes use permits for parking. read more

Hidden fees upon move in and move out, garbage disposal is completely unorganized, turn in streets are dangerous and constant car accidents, rodents infest the neighborhood because of the garbage lay out. I had a terrible experience with this apartment building. LEGIT TERRIBLE. and I was going through the application process. LUANA was the individual I went to for help. SHE WAS NOT HELPFUL AT ALL. I had to go to the high point office on SEVERAL Times just to remind her that I really wanted the apartment and want to start the process. She then goes to tell me that I need to cancel my lease at my current apartment, glad I didn't because she waited til the deadline I told her to actually do the application process. I'm very glad I kept my apartment I'm in now, because listening to her I would've missed my deadline to renew and would be out of an apartment. She also took several months just to refund me my money, that I had to go to high point just to remind her for her deposit............EVEN had to call corporate to get a quicker response. The apartments seems nice, but with a customer service experience I received from her was horrible, unresponsive and hard to reach. After I signed and paid the first month rent, I told them my house was not selling and I can't pay two places. So I want to terminate the lease and get my first month rent back but they refused. Beautiful apartments in a nice location but there is no parking for the apartments and managers will tow cars not in an authorized spot. Being in the town square apartments, non-residents are constantly in and out of the creative arts center and taking up any additional parking in the area. When I first leased my apartment I was enticed to my building due to extra parking behind the creative arts center; after living there for almost a year, I've realized there is never any "legal" parking spots available in front, behind or on the side of the complex. Instead of parking spots there are tons of fire lanes that take up a majority of the area that could be parking places. On top of that, the creative arts center manager will take it upon herself to get vehicles towed, ask my how I know that one. Overall it's a nice place with helpful managers in a nice location but I cannot recommend this place due to never having any "legal" parking. Edit post owner response: I parked illegally and got towed, I can admit to that. I was pretty fired up about it all when it happened and am still pretty salty but can accept that. But, the issue of no parking is still prevalent. I didn't think parking would be considered such a premium being a one bedroom apartment costs $1450 a month. On my similar Google review the owner said to contact the office if I want to rent a garage; I definitely don't think saying I should pay more money a month to ensure a parking space is the right answer. There are vehicles that have not moved in months taking up spots around the apartments but I am the bad guy for not wanting to walk across the entire complex after a 12-16 hour work day. Also to note, I received the emails and letters about parking and I tried my best to follow the rules, but after days on end of getting home and circling the apartments trying to find a legal spot, I gave up. PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE! I'm a currently resident and cannot wait until my lease agreement is up. This place is not worth the $1,200 that I'm paying. Where do I begin: 1. When I first starting looking for an apartment, "Joy" who works in the leasing office showed me an apartment, which is fine. When I decided I was going to move in, she neglected to tell me that the apartment I would be renting was a lower unit in a "dog friendly" building. The first set of neighbors were AWFUL, they had 2 dogs living with them that constantly ran back and forth through the apartment and because the construction of the building is very poor, I could literally hear EVERYTHING. The dogs barked all night long, sometimes very, very late. I had to call the police on the neighbors at least 8 times and reporting them to the leasing office at least 5 times before something was finally done. 2. The second set of neighbors that moved in wasn't any better. Initially they were quiet, well that was at least until their daughter became a constant temper tantrum throwing monster. I had to on more than one occasion had to ask them to kindly be respectful of other neighbors with their noise. Then they too got a dog that barked all day, all night. They'd leave the dog out of its kennel and often times alone. Same issue as the first tenants. Eventually, I was told by the leasing office I could move into an upper unit since there was no resolution in sight. This was up course after 6 months of me complaining about the same issues. They didn't offer to help me move, credit me for my inconvenience....Nothing! 3. So I moved into an upper unit, last Spring thinking that my issues would finally be in the past. The neighbors below are just as bad and because of the walls/ceilings being so thin, I can hear them talking, kids screaming, slamming closet doors, etc. On top of that, it took me several more months of complaints before I had issues resolved in my own apartment (leaky faucet, burned out outside light, leaky bathtub faucet and an extremely noisy bathroom exhaust fan). The exhaust fans in this apartment complex are VERY OLD AND VERY NOISY that I can hear the neighbors exhaust fan throughout my entire apartment. 4. The exhaust fans are so bad that they rattle constantly. I eventually was able to get mine replaced. As for the neighbors, they go into their bathroom and would let their noisy exhaust run for hours, Yep, you heard me right HOURS. Sometimes they wouldn't turn the exhaust fan until 11pm at night, or better yet, how about being woke up out of your sleep on a Saturday morning at 5am to the sound of that noisy exhaust fan. 5. I've reported to the leasing office 4 times asking that they try to see if they can repair the neighbors exhaust fan because it is so LOUD. Kristina, the property manager said "Oh I'll just tell them to stop using it". ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? Tell the tenants to stop using a faulty exhaust fan is like telling someone NOT to use the only bathroom they have. I've had to escalate this issue all the way up to the president of Marquette properties because they seem to have a rather incompetent staff working in the leasing office. 6. The garbage can areas are ALWAYS disgusting. People tend to throw their trash outside of the trash receptacles instead of inside them. There is a huge problem with squirrels getting into the trash because of this on-going issue. 7. Don't order packages and have them delivered to Highpoint. You may not get them....! I had an issue with ordered packages. I track anything I order to find out delivery of them. There were multiple occasions where I ordered packages, the tracking software says "Delivered" but when I went to the leasing office to pick them up, I was told they weren't delivered, only to find out they were and "somehow were mislabeled" . Yeah Right! 8. None of these issues would be a huge problem for me, if it wasn't for the fact that no one is really helpful. I'm only home 3 nights a week, when I'm home, I make sure both the noise level of myself and my son is kept to a minimum as I'm respectful of those I live around. I know that not everyone is capable of this but everyone should try to be. If you want to live in a beautiful and peaceful environment, please drive past Highpoint Apartments as it'll be a waste of your time/money and plus your sleep will be constantly disrupted. read more

I lived here for a year, and I will say, I should have read more reviews for this place. I thought paying such a high rent would mean I'd be living in a beautiful, nice, safe community... well all seems well until you notice all the Section 8 stuff mentioned in other reviews around the internet sounds correct (especially around the church). So, here is my dreadfully long, honest experience with Marquette broken up into sections for reader convenience. PROS: I'll start with the good stuff: Pretty nice location, right off 55 and Weber Road. I could walk to a Jewel for groceries if I wanted to. Laundry machines in my unit (they were very noisy, but laundry equipment nonetheless.) Patio (which I never used.) Apartments "look" pretty (but beware) TENANTS: This part is about an encounter with ignorant tenants allowed into the community: The neighbors upstairs I've called the police on 3-4 times because their surround sound will go all night playing rap otherwise (Highpoint does not seem to address noise complaints). After all the calls I've made to Romeoville Police Department, I've given up and I go see the neighbors personally to tell them to silence their noise, sometimes having to do so at 2am. They are severely lacking in intelligence... I almost always have to remind them that they are living in an apartment and they should be considerate when sharing walls with others. Wannabe gang bangers hang out in the parking lot. Just a note on the parking lot, the chances of getting a parking spot in front of your building are a joke, so I hope you like walking. Also, after closer inspection, this community seems a little ghetto... how can the tenants that live here possibly afford their rent... something is off about this place (Section 8 anyone?) APARTMENT: A one bedroom is the size of a small studio apartment; they say the apartments come with drive-in closets...please, this whole apartment is small enough to BE the drive-in closet. With how small the apartment is, I'm thrown off by the oversized bathroom door... and it makes for an awkward time when you go to close it; be prepared to hug the bathtub. The walls are soo thin I can hear everything that goes on above me (yep I can even hear the guy upstairs peeing). If I wanted to, I suppose I could write out the daily activities of the tenants above me in detail that's how poorly soundproofed these apartments are; I guess the few people that choose to extend their lease are okay with that... The apartments have a poorly constructed feel to them. Meaning, the cost to build them must have been very low ... the place is drafty and hard to keep cool in summer and warm in the winter (which is probably why they make me pay all utilities ... they know they haven't properly insulated the buildings and they make me pay the price with high energy bills). Aside from the walls being improperly insulated, the kitchen countertops are pealing up, the appliances are mediocre at best; everything has an "IKEA" feel to it (aka cheap, but hey!, everything "looks" nice). Well, you can polish this turd of an apartment, but it's still a piece of shit. PET POLICY: This place claims that it is "extremely pet friendly," but that statement is completely misleading in the use of the word "extremely"! After I was told it would only be an $88 nonrefundable charge in lieu of a $500 deposit by one office lady; later Janice "smiles" and tells us we were told wrong by a "new office girl" (this is the second time we have been screwed over because the person "was new" and it's completely unforgiving; new people should be shadowing the experienced employees, because these mistakes are costing me large amounts of money) and explained that we have to pay a nonrefundable pet fee of $350 after we had already gone ahead with the pet adoption process. Also, this $350 fee I was told is "not a cleaning fee, but it exists to deter everyone from owning a pet." So, I get the impression that they do not want people to own pets. Things start to reek of scam when you charge someone a $350 nonrefundable fee AND $500/$88 for having a small, well mannered, potty trained, fixed CAT roaming your apartment... I would gladly pay to replace any damages caused by my cat, but who wants to pay when no damages exist??? BOTTOM LINE: -Incompetent/rude office women -Misleading (that may mostly due to incompetent AND inexperienced office staff) -Poorly designed and poorly soundproofed apartment -Overly priced considering all the drawbacks If you can deal with all the above, you'll be very happy, enjoy! The only reason I'm giving this place any stars at all is because the outside looks like and the grounds are generally well-kept. The apartment we saw when we first signed our lease was not the same apartment we moved in to. Of course, they showed an apartment that was outdated but in great condition. The carpet in the apartment was so worn down that you couldn't see where you vacuumed. The faucets on the sink were rusty, the windows extremely drafty. The baseboards in the kitchen were completely gone, and I went an entire year without shelves in my refrigerator (after several attempts to get them). There are some very shady people that live in this apartment complex. Several of the reviews make note of lack of action for noise complaints and it's so true. We had someone cooking meth below us and they wouldn't do anything about it, so I had to get the police involved. The ladies in the office are always very nice but Highpoint just doesn't do enough to stop the noisy, drug-dealing neighbors away. Overall, just really not worth the high rent. read more

Lived here for 5 years. Everything was great until the last 6 months. Apartment complex manager insisted I did a LONG list of things I never did, and said she would not renew my lease. I moved out ASAP. Then after I moved, I got a sickeningly sweet e-mail stating how great it was having me as a member of the community and would I please leave a positive review on their website? NOPE. then I get a cleaning bill, which should be covered by all the NON refundable deposits AND the pet deposits, AND the NON refundable BOND I paid to Luana. Maintenance is awesome! They always get things fixed as soon as possible . If you have problems with your neighbors, don't bother calling management. , just call the cops instead.. One girl will tell you your lying and the office manager will send a letter. The cops did more than they did. Apartments are decent, washer and dryer in unit, and lots of closet space. The staff, especially Michelle, have ZERO people skills. The customer service after you sign your lease is non existent. There is definitely a bait and switch when moving to this property. The best advice I can give if you have to move here is to NEVER have an issue, and NEVER receive packages. The staff is low education, few morals and even less tact. My issue was not with the package being lost things happen. My issue was with the tone and the way I was talked to. I was treated like I was a bother and if my concern was irrelevant, the issue was also in which she spoke to my 16 year old son. He went to the office twice I guess this was an annoyance. There will not be any further issues regarding packages as I have opted to utilize the local UPS store. It's not what you say, it's how you say it, and to make someone feel unwanted and under valued as a consumer is not nice. We have to understand that not everyone comes from the same place culturally or socially. A part of customer service is realizing that there are different social and cultural nuances when it comes to respect so just treat people as you would want to be treated. read more

I moved into this complex in 2017. I just moved out April of 2019 please DO NOT move here. The management is extremely rude. I had my entire apartment invested with sewer flies and they were unwilling to compensate me for having to leave my apartment with my two toddler kids until it was exterminated. They can't keep a steady maintenance team at all, which one of their maintenance men stole a pair of Jordan's out of my apartment while I was out of town. I just received a collection account that I was charged $685.00 to have the carpet replaced after living in this establishment for 2 years. I have referred both of my sisters to this complex as well. I am furious that I didn't receive any correspondence regarding this charge. Also why is it $685.00 to replace carpet which is normal wear and tear when you have two toddlers living there. I will never refer anyone to this complex. They are just out for money. I was never late on rent or never had any complaints from neighbors. read more

I couldn't disagree more with the reviews that Highpoint has received so far. I had a great working relationship with the women in the main office during our big move, and our place is exactly how we expected it would be upon viewing the model before signing the lease. Our neighbors are out in the evening walking the paths, and are extremely kind and friendly! When we moved in, there were a few minor damages from the last tenants, and the crew came out the following day we submitted the repair orders. The rent is $$, but for the square footage of a 2 bedroom, 2 bath apartment with a porch and in-unit appliances, and convenience of an expressway just a few ticks down the road, I couldn't ask for a better deal! read more

I'm moving soon and have never been so sad to leave an apartment complex! I live on the second floor and love my deck and giant storage closet. The bedroom closets are giant too. I love having a separate entrance--it feels much more like a home that way and there is always a parking spot available close to my door. Everyone who works here is super friendly and will try to help you out with whatever it is you need. Maintenance has always been timely and does a great job with repairs. The location is awesome--you can walk to a couple different places to eat and the grocery store and there are some nice neighborhoods to walk in too. The pool is my favorite part and it's not ever super crowded. I would absolutely recommend this place! read more

READ FIRST! I am currently a tenant in the HighPoint apartment community and have lived here for over 2 yrs. However, in just a couple months when my lease is up I will be moving out and our last day can't come soon enough. I've stayed this long to keep my daughter in her same elementary school until she could finish. We were previously renting a house from a family member until they decided to sell and this seemed lk the best option. The office staff here seemed friendly and really played on the fact that I was a young single parent and went on about how this is a great family oriented community and is safe. They showed us a great updated apartment that was a "model apartment" and after signing the lease and getting my keys I found this was not the case w my unit. Old carpet etc. I tried to be positive and made it work w my own personal touches. The area around is not quite as family friendly as they make it seem. Within a few months of living here all 4 of the tires on my car were slashed along w other cars in the lot. Local law enforcement made a report but that's where it ended. No apologies or general concern from the staff here at all. I understand that bad things can happen anywhere but this is suppose to be a safe home for my family. Within a few months after that my daughter was outside riding her bike and ran in for a drink and within a matter of 15 min her bike was stolen and nowhere to be seen. And some units have an outside storage closet but bc mine is older I don't get one which nobody told me upon moving in. So I kept a plastic storage container on my patio area w my daughters outside toys and local kids or whoever kept stealing from it so I had to get rid of it. Again no concern from staff which was an indicator to me that this isn't as family friendly as they said. As far as the "programs" they offer for the kids they are over priced and the ppl who are responsible for running them look lk criminals on parol and I wouldn't let them care for my dog let alone a child. There is a pool here and during the summer the day camp they offer brings the kids to the pool and it ruins it for anyone else using the pool. They scream and yell at the kids and control the pool. One councilor told my daughter she was splashing too much while swimming and would have to get out if she didn't listen. My daughter was there with me! Not even part of the camp! And newsflash it's a pool meant for swimming. Another time while at the pool a councilor (who had missing teeth and looked as if she was strung out on crack) from the camp approached my sister and told her to put a shirt on over her suit or leave bc her chest was too large. The suit was modest and not at all revealing not lk she was sitting in a tiny bikini. When the management was informed of this situation again no apology and nothing was done leaving us feeling embarrassed, discriminated against and very uncomfortable. So we quit using the pool or any facilities they offer which lets face it, as much as you pay for rent you are paying for the amenities. And as far as getting maintenance done here in a timely manner forget it. Things need to be fixed/updated over time and management acts lk it's an inconvenience to them. A leak happened inside the wall recently and they acted as if I caused it. And the lack of overall communication on what/when they would fix things was horrible. Acted as if I was pestering them when I called to check the status of repairs. Excuse me for wanting to live in my own apartment w my own things. Again you pay enough here this shouldn't be an issue. I know that most reviews are focused on the negative but in this case this is not the only intention. The fact is the management here is very unprofessional and as my yrs living here are coming to an end I thought I'd save someone else the trouble. The bad just does not out weigh the good. My family and I moved in her last second, as we were running out of time to find a place. Everything was great when we first moved in. It is in a great location. The neighbors are all very friendly, and there is hardly any noise. It really was a nice place to raise a newborn. The appliances are very old and outdated. Maintainence is very timely when an issue arises. The grounds are very clean. We have had so many problems with the mail. They always lose it, and when they do, there excuse is that "we've already picked up the package." There have been numerous times where I have caught them lying about us signing out our packages, as we were out of town when they were supposidly signed out. We got a package over 3 months late that they had the entire time in their mail room. (sadly they were baby clothes so they did not fit the baby by the time they gave them to us). We still havent gotten two packages that were delivered ages ago. The mail room hours are awful as well. As myself and my husband work full time it was nearly impossible to pick up our packages, because the mail room closes at 6, which we dont even get off of work by then on the weekdays. It was super inconvenient. Another downside they have is the "pet friendly" policy. They claim to be very pet friendly when they are actually not. They only have very few pet friendly buildings, which we wish we would have known before moving in. The staff is awful; besides Cathy. Everyone else gives you a huge attitude when you have ANY questions or concerns. They never return my phone calls or emails. I once had to call them FOUR times, just for a response. They are the main reason why we will not be renewing out lease with them next month. We spend a lot of money to live here, just to be treated so poorly by staff, and it is a shame. read more

Easily the worst place I have ever lived. Has not been updated since it was built. The Kitchen is a disaster. The counter tops are peeling apart. The pantry is narrow and deep so good luck finding anything you keep in there. The apartments overall layout is abysmal. Think you have a "living room"...think again. Nothing fits anywhere. In the bathroom, you have to walk all the way past the door in order to close it because the layout is poor and the size is tiny. Do you wake up for work early in the morning? Good luck sleeping because you can hear every single thing that your neighbors do...including their love sessions. You will get very comfortable using their online tool, especially maintenance requests because things will break or just stop working all together. Having packages and delivered is a nightmare. You may get confirmation from UPS or FedEx that your package has been delivered but you may not be able to receive it from the office for up to a week after. They have no filing or organizational system to store and keep track of packages. They told me that I did not have one and I explained to them that I did and that I had a notification from them that I did and showed it to them. Then they changed their tune and said it was a mistake and I again explained that I was expecting an important package needed for work the next day. Then they tried to tell me I must have already picked it up. I had not picked it up and in fact, it was in their office shoved behind and underneath other packages. I give them no stars. From the day we moved in we had problems. We were shown a beautiful, spacious, and modern model. They then proceeded to tell us we couldn't move in until the 7th of the month and that we couldn't see our actual apartment until move-in day, which coincidently was also the only day they would let us sign our lease papers. I had all our belongings on a truck at highpoint ready to move. When went into the leasing office and they completely weren't prepared for our move-in. The lady who talked to us initially wasn't even there so we had to explain what was going on to a different lady. She then proceeded to tell us a bunch of details on the lease that we weren't aware of. At this point, I had no other options so I signed. They told us the unit was move-in ready, which couldn't have been further from the truth. First of all, the unit was not the same square footage as the model. It was completely filthy. We had to scrub both bathrooms, the counters, the walls, and all the doors before we could bring anything in. The electrical wiring was done poorly. Our microwave was broken. Our washer was stained blue and tearing up our clothes. Our dryer took 3 cycles to dry a normal load of laundry. Our blinds were broken. Our windows wouldn't close all the way or lock properly, which was a big concern for me as I am out of town quite frequently for work, and my fiancé and son where there alone. When I brought this up to maintenance, they told me they couldn't replace or fix the windows because that would cost to much money. There was rust over every drain and faucet, and they said that was just cosmetic. They did nothing. Our apartment was infested with ants, and we had to call the exterminator three different times. There is no ventilation in the kitchen at all. It was a nightmare. I cook three meals a day when I am home and every single time I cooked it set the smoke detectors off. We noticed the only ventilation for the stove/oven was from the microwave. We looked above the microwave to see where the ventilation lead. Well, sadly all that heat and smoke was simply being blown into the cabinets. And worst of all, the last two months we lived there the furnace did not work properly. In the middle of winter, it was freezing in our unit. We called maintenance and they told us it was too expensive to replace and to just reset the furnace every hour. Seriously, it got so bad that I couldn't even sleep at night because I would have to reset the furnace every 30-40 mins. I didn't want my family to freeze. I kept calling to get it fixed with no end. Not even so much as a returned phone call. One day late on your rent gets you a hundred dollar fine. One day! After 5 days another 100 and after 7 they evict you. They wouldn't answer your phone calls or solve their basic tenant needs, but the you bet if you were one day late on rent, there was a note on the door at 6am about your fine. The females in the office try everything to get you in and pretend to be concerned for you and friendly only to later reveal themselvea to be snakes. I asked the office to fix it they said they couldn't do anything about it. The counter tops were old and peeling the stove and refrigerator were old and peeling as well . when asked to replace or fix for newer ones they said since we didn't live in the "upgraded" apartments they wouldn't do it . The apartments are so poorly made you can hear the neighbor snoring. Towards the end of the lease they ask if I would be renewing the and I didn't plan on doing so. I gave them written notice telling them and that was that.I moved out 4 days earlier than the lease was over. Later to find out that they "never " received a notice from me and now they are charging me 4,900 dollars for rent money for months I never lived there. When I called and talked to the complex to fix the issue they pretty much told me to F*ck off. This is now is affecting my credit and am not able to purchase a home because of this. I am pursuing legal action To remove these charges. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE !!!!! If I could five this place negative stars I would gladly do so. read more

If I could I would give them no stars! This is an overpriced horrible place to live in, the apartment conditions are horrible, counters peeling, carpets not installed right, stoves painted with white paint instead of replacing with new or at least more decent appliences. We moved out about a year ago, before our lease was up, now they are charging us 4 thousand dollars for months we did not live there! They are affecting our credit and did not help at all when we had issues with a person who lived downstairs always fighting, cussing, slamming doors. Have in mind we could hear word for word their arguments and worse part our children had to hear it! All they said at the office was well there is nothing we can do, or wait till your lease is up me might be able to change your apartment but there are fee's! Seriously! Or the great one you can put up with it till they move out! Horrible! Horrible! Don't be fooled by the women in the offices pretending to be so helpful! It's all bs! read more
