It's already the most expensive place in the East Valley for feed, but it's also the only place really in Gilbert . The place is mostly run by teenagers. Which means it never opens up on time and always closes early. if you come here, I would highly recommend calling before driving over there. I have been going to Higley Feed for many years now. I started out going there for dog food. The Owner's whom I've grown to know are very genuine and kind people. I originally stopped by this establishment out of curiosity in hopes of finding my Victor Dog food. At that time they was not carrying that brand and I was forced to drive miles away to buy it from another feed store. When the owner Sheila saw the disappointment on my face she approached me and informed me that she would see what she could do. A week later she told me that they will now be carrying my favorite dog food that I like to feed my imported Rottweilers. At that time I was importing them and breeding Rottweilers. She even offered a discount on the food I was buying because I always buy several bags at a time which the other feed store NEVER even thought of offering. I also like the fact that they stay up on the latest quality dog foods and also any recalls which is very important. I have sent friends of mine to buy baby chicks there for those who are into raising their own chickens and they always have a very nice selection. If you carnivore then say no more because they sell meat. Their beef is top 5% in the U.S. and they have every cut of beef that you can imagine. Got three baby chicks in Feb and they are almost old enough to start laying eggs. The staff is very knowledgeable about most farm animals and they have been very helpful to me and my wife in our first time ever to raise chickens. They have everything you need no matter the animal. We got our chicks here in Feb 2017 and the staff have always been very helpful. We get our organic scratch and crumble for our backyard chickens here. I love that they're local and that they have what we need. They have a great deal of products for all types of farm animals, donkey, horse, cattle, chickens and I'm sure things I haven't paid much attention to. We had been to another place in the past and the guy wasn't anything near as helpful as the staff at Higley feed has been for us. I suppose I didn't realize how accessible this type of stuff was before getting our chickens. Now we have so many eggs we don't know what to do with. I certainly hope they stick around for a while. They even let us grab remaining alfalfa when they were out of bails and just take what was laying behind since they happened to be out that day. read more

Purchased sweet little chicks for their eggs, one chick had pasty rear and would not come near the others, took her out to check, and she was stopped up with dried poop, same day I bought them. washed her off, put her back, other chicks pecked her, so brought her my home with heat and food, she was to far gone, and died the next morning. She was not taking care of at Higley Feed, it was too late to save her,. I asked the next day for her to be replaced, and they refused. Not understanding, and will not be going there again. read more

To start... I love Higley feed! I used to buy my dog food from Petsmart and paid about $50 bucks for it. After moving to the area and not being able to locate one nearby, I checked this place out on a whim and am so glad I did! The staff here is exceptionally friendly and I've never had an issue with them being anything but. When you buy something they always help and take it out to your car for you to load it up. While I'm totally capable, it is nice. Prices are competitive for the product. We get Taste of the Wild dog food and they have a variety of flavors in stock along with many other varieties of food to choose from. The feed store also sells products for horses, chickens, and other farm animals. They also have a pretty wide variety of Yetti products to purchase. One thing you have to consider is making sure they have the food you need. Sometimes if it's getting close to their next delivery date they may be out but you can solve that with a quick phone call or - better yet - if you tell them what you need they'll be sure to have it and let you know when the delivery is. They've even helped by holding things for me. Overall, this is a great little feed store. They've got plenty of higher quality product and a great staff to go with it. The service is great and I enjoy the feed store atmosphere - gets you away from the big Petco/Petsmart chain feel and supporting a local business. read more

Went to purchase some baby chickens to start our flock, we got 5 chicks and the starter pack the counter person was knowledgeable, answered all our questions as to when how long to feed on starter, at what age can they be free-range/outdoor, breed and egg count on average per chick, when they'll start laying eggs, etc. Suggested what we needed and didn't try to over sell or add more items we didn't need. They even loaded up the 50lb bag of feed in the truck for us. read more

Came here to get some chickens...no luck, they were getting some more on Friday, but that didn't help me...then we came back for cage wire...strike 2 because everything you have to special order in bulk with a minium of $100...I might go back one more time when I am in need to see if they can recover... I had recently gotten some baby chicks from a friend that was moving away out of state so I needed to get chicken wire and chicken feed so I was asking a buddy of mine a place he'd recommend he told me this place was pretty neat and it just so happened to be close by so I decided to check it out I was taking care of my special needs brother so I took him along with my girlfriend. As soon as we walked near the entrance of the place my little brother wanted to look at the chicks they had outside immediately one of the girl staff members came out and aggressively asked "what do you guys want?!" When I tried explaining that we where just looking around another staff memeber came out and asked the exact same thing in the exact same tone and the same energy. I than let him know I was just there to get chicken wire and chicken feed he immediately said "nah we don't have that here you can find that stuff from your people at home depo" I was honestly in disbelief and didn't want to make a scene with my brother so we just decided to leave. I let my friend know and he couldn't believe it. We never even got to look inside or anything. I'd give this place 0 stars if I could. Racism shouldn't be a thing in 2022 read more

A great feed store. Carries at least a little of everything for every type of livestock as far as I can tell. I have never been disappointed here. Service is ALWAYS friendly and above and beyond. I have even had a special request they were able to track down. they frequently have chicks that are not seen at other feed stores. Such varying levels of service! The last time we were there, the service was really great. Really! Above and beyond. This would be a 5 star rating. Today they had, a maybe high-school aged, girl working the counter. We apparently interrupted her personal reverie by existing. She was consistently rude and made it everything MORE difficult. I felt bad for her colleagues who were quite nice and helpful once you made it through the Queen gate-keeper. We will go back for now, but if we run into her too many more times we will have to find a different place to get feed. read more

Pretty decent prices, but the staff did not seem interested in helping me. Maybe it was just an off day, but I was a little disappointed.

I always look forward to going to Higley because they always have what I need. Better than Mesa feed for almost everything, plus they've got awesome customer service. First thing in the morning or near closing, they're always cheery and willing to help. I've always called with questions if they had this or that, or how much things would be and spent minutes on the phone with them and it's never a "bother" or a waste of their time. Recently I needed Ivermectin pour on in the smallest bottle they had. They named the price and said they could have it for me that day, I told them I couldn't get it that day, but could on the weekend and I showed up on Monday because I didn't make it out. Still had it for me. They also have show feeds that some of the other feed stores in the area don't have that you can't get at say Mesa or Tempe Feed. Lamb, sheep, swine, bulk bird food, salt licks, hay, etc. and I think their prices are pretty decent. They'll tell you if something went up in price or will custom order things for you, also have tack area now where I saw them doing a repair. Cages, kennels, panels, etc they also have. Bought a significant amount of grass seed here, enough for 2 of our pastures (1-1/2 acres), paid a small fortune, followed the directions very precisely as we've done in the past, watered, watered, watered some more...very little grass grew. Went back to Higley Feed and let them know, they refused to do anything about it. No refund, no explanation, they didn't seem to even care. Won't be back. If they don't stand behind their products, we won't stand for their poor business practices. read more

I bought a red heat bulb from them last week. The bulbs red coating is no longer there just after a week of use. When I called to find out if I could return it the girl said no because it's been used and she doesn't know why but when they use them it happens too. If someone buys a red bulb they want and expect red, not a clear bulb...I woulda just bought a clear heat bulb. Terrible customer service. read more
