We stopped by first thing in the morning for a dog wash. We are from out of town and my poor girl was itchy. I was warned I should call and reserve a spot in the groom shop but, there was no one in it at the moment so I was allowed ro use it. Its only a single dog area. They have 2 types of shampoo and a conditioner. The tub is nice and deep with a walk up ramp. There was a slicker brush to use. The water was warm and the pressure was variable and awesome. They do not offer towels, so you might bring your own. They do have a high volume blow dryer though. Its been a day now and my girls coat is very dry and her itching is worse and now she has dandruff. She is my service dog and I cant have her looking dirty, so handled it here. Ahes feeling and looking more comfortable. We are not used to the super dry weather. Today was treat Thursday and they had a discount on the treats I picked out for my girl and my brothers dog. It was our a little puppy, Piper's two year old birthday. Where did the time go? I was looking online for dog bakeries and I found the Pet Planet sells the Barkery treats along with much more. Our little fur baby has a very sensitive tummy so we can only feed her organic products. We also try to avoid any kind of toys and products made in China. It was to our extreme delight and surprise that not only is Pet Planet located right around the corner from us, it also only sells organic food suitable for sensitive bellies, and also nothing there is made in China. We brought our puppy, and let her pick out whatever she wanted. We left with a Birthday bone, a birthday cupcake, frozen banana and peanut butter puppy FroYo, a toy that is good for dental hygiene, and they also gave us a complimentary birthday bag of treats and poop bags with a bow around it. So adorable. All together, we were probably in and out in less than 10 minutes. Parking is readily available outside in the plaza lot. Prices are reasonable. Saying this place is pet friendly is an extreme understatement. We had the best service from Kasi & Andres. They said us up an account for future trips and purchases. They were so kind to us and our puppy. They explained everything about the place in great detail. We felt very educated when we left. They even held the door for us on our way out. I was put into a situation where I needed food for my dog, but my bank account was "hacked" and I only had $14 to spend. Seeing the dismay on my face, and my large, friendly black lab mix, the workers at the store immediately showed compassion. Mia was so helpful! We found a bigger bag of food than I ever expected that was on sale since it was soon to expire. I couldn't believe this generosity during I time I was left without money for a few days. Dee is amazing! We will always support this store now! We washed our pups here and when we left, we forgot a bag with towels outside of the store on the sidewalk. They brought it inside , held on to it for months! It had been a while so Dee took it home, washed the towels and brought it back. We came in to get the bag of the brush, towels and harness and were so thankful they still had it let alone learn that Dee washed it for us! My new doggie, Sully and I love Pet Planet. It's not our favorite location but it's the closet to our house. I like that it's more of a small, intimate store vs PetSmart or Petco. I like the more healthier options for dog food here vs the big, mainstream stores. I'm super glad they have the food my Sully loves so we don't have to travel far for good, quality food. read more

This is probably the best pet store ever! Every time me or my Husband goes to get dog/cat food they always greet us. They're very welcoming every single visit. Really disappointed in the management. My family has been loyal shoppers for the past 4 yrs, and spend a decent amount of money there. We have always received their military discount because of my Vet, but they changed this over the past year. Fortunately, we were "grandfathered" in and still were able to receive the discount until recently. I was told the manager is trying to nip this in the bud and that they no longer honor military discounts. We will be taking our business elsewhere at this point. This is a Canadian based company, and apparently are more concerned about their bottom lines then taking care of their loyal customers. There are other options for where we can get our dog and cat food, but have wanted to support this local business since we moved to QC. Well, no more....we will now be buying our food elsewhere and will stop promoting the store to friends and neighbors. read more

Not good at customer service. It was our first time in and we weren't even acknowledged. I then stood at the counter waiting to check in for the self wash, while the lady at the counter carried on with her long conversation with the person checking out. I then asked if they supply towels for the dog wash and she said that they don't. I wish someone would have told me that when I made the appointment in the first place. Or even the second time when I called to confirm the appointment. Needless to say, we won't be washing our dogs here. read more

I buy my dog food here even though it's expensive I want to give my dog a better quality food. I stopped by on Monday the 31st at 5:45pm and the doors were locked. There was an employee inside and the sign said open til 9. I had to buy a dog food from sprouts because I was out. Just so annoying that it was closed with no signs and the employee just ignoring people that are coming to the door. I will take my business elsewhere. read more

We love this place. This review was carefully weighed before choosing a "star". I'm leaving a review because I feel the 1-star reviews due to the poor pet-washing station were unfair and not representative of the whole store. If I could leave 4.5 stars, I would've. I'll start with a few things we'd love to see changed or improved. Obviously stuff can be acquired cheaper online, but their toys are still pretty pricey. We're totally willing to pay a couple extra bucks to keep a nice brick and mortar store open and successful, but I don't want to pay double the price. It's no better at PetSmart or Petco, either, whose toys are even more expensive than they are at Pet Planet! I at least hope the markup on their toys is significant enough to cover costs and keep the store open. We've bought a few toys & supplies here just in hopes of supporting this cool business. Also, while they have a decent variety of items, I'd love to see an even bigger selection. There are brands online that I feel match PP's selective requirements, and I'd love to buy them from PP versus online. The narrow variety of items is what has kept us from going here a couple extra times. This includes raw food. They have an OK variety, but with the growing demands for it - particularly in this area of the Valley, it seems, maybe including a few more brands would be beneficial. If you want it, ask though, because otherwise how are they to know? Now for the fun part of the review! The staff is always friendly. I love the more outgoing, bubbly staff members. There are 1-2 gals who are much quieter which can be interpreted the wrong way by some people, but they're still friendly nonetheless! We've never had an issue with anyone, and they are ALL great at checkout and are informative. My 2nd compliment is the quality of the foods and items sold. Pet Planet refuses to sell items that contain any one of several controversial ingredients. Even if I buy the cheapest food there, I can rest assured it's free of most ingredients that cheaper big-box stores' brands contain that may be unnecessarily risky to our furry friends. The 3rd thing I like is their events. It seems that they try to stay connected with the community and they offer special events that feature vendors, freebies, and special sales! 4th point - our Doberman is always treated like royalty there. They love her, and she loves going! 5th point - it's not a big deal to some people, but to ME it is! They sell a wide variety of colors and sizes in martingale collars. Many local dog trainers and classes require this specific collar due to its function and sound. You can buy them online, or you can buy them here in one of many unique colors for about the same price as online. I hope they always sell these here! We have bought 3 there since our puppy training class, and we're about to get a 2nd large breed dog so I see a few more in our future. 6th point - this is really cool: they can look up the formulas in their computer for every food in their inventory, and they do special orders (in advance, if needed!) to ensure they have what you need! Our dog had long-standing digestive issues from having Giardia during puppyhood, and the food Pet Planet suggested has been our go-to ever since. If you are considering changing foods, they can check formulas and suggest other foods that contain similar ingredients and nutrient profiles, and make recommendations based on protein sources and price points. 7th point - this company has been around since 1996 and is family-owned. If I'm correct, it's franchised out and/or some locations are independently owned or managed, and I'm not sure how long this location has been here but it's relatively new. I ask customers to support its efforts and give it time to adjust to this unique Arizona community and understand the needs and desires of its clientele. I'm sure they'll be adjusting to demands, but it doesn't happen overnight. They truly care about what they sell and are trying to do a good thing. Support them whenever you can - even if it's just a random $2 treat from their fabulous treat bins - and offer feedback. It adds up, and makes more of a difference than holding a grudge and taking your business to a big chain. In the meantime, they have a fan in us and our beloved furbaby! read more

Great store for healthy options for your dogs and cats, quality and specialty foods including raw diets, better quality foods really give your dogs & cats a better quality of life, our Boxer acted so much younger when we changed him to a quality diet, after he passed away I started our puppy on premium feed and he will stay on it for life, I cannot stress enough that it's worth the few extra dollars it compares to feeding your kids McDOnald's every day & nothing healthy. Pet Planet has a large selection to choose from. Most of the products (if not all) are healthy and reasonably priced. The employees are friendly and very knowledgeable about the products. I often purchase chewables for my large dog. They are always fresh and keep my dog entertained for hours. For those who don't know the story - my dogs are allergic to the entire known world. There was one canned food I was getting there, and the manufacturer changed the formulation without notice to customers or the stores, and my dogs ended up sick last month due to it. I had informed the clerks at the store of the problem. I never asked them to set anything aside, but they have been grabbing up any old formulation that comes in on their shipments and setting it aside for me. I get call today at work from them. Without me asking, they called all the local Pet Planet franchises in the Valley area and gathered up all the old formulation Chicken canned food any of them still had, and they are going to make sure it is to the local store for me to pick up on Sunday! The wonderful lady, Brittany, also told me that she was going to go through the list of what they are able to special order and see if anything on that list could possibly be safe for my dogs and was going to order it in for me to try with my furbabies. Now that, is going above and beyond for a customer, and it also shows me they really care about animals too. These folks are awesome. They really do care about your pets. read more

I Brought my German Shepherd and Dachshund here to use the self service dog bathing station. It's $10 for every 15 mins you use. They bring you an OLD towel to dry off your dog. If you need additional OLD towels that's impossible! It's truly against their companies policy to give you additional towels according to Brittany the cashier. Even if you offer to pay for them. They do have a dryer but that scares my dogs. The water pressure on the bathing unit was horrible. I think it's a sales technique, if you go over the allowed 15mins you are charged additional. For larger dogs the additional water pressure would be great. Also the water hose provided at the station is so short for larger dogs it's hard to reach the other side of your dog. I brought my daughters with me to help out. I sent my daughter to the counter at the end of our session to pay. She was told we couldn't pay until all people were out of the bathing room. So up we all went to the front counter to pay for the inadequate experience. Why make it easy when you have two really excited dogs and two really excited kids. JEEZ! This place could be so much better. The location is super convenient to our house. The staff stinks, in this economy where the internet companies are taking over, little retail stores like this one need to step up their game! I will not be going back and will be spreading the word to others. I have gone to the PetClub on Dobson Road. It's pretty far from my house but the whole experience there was much better than this place. Guess my dogs will get an added bonus next time, a longer car ride :). Used the bathing station for my mini poodle and it was trash. There was barely any water pressure, and it did not dispense soap. I basically paid 9$ to water down my dog. Made the associate aware of the issue and she gave a 10% discount which came out to a $1 discount for a service that did not work. read more

I'm so happy that Pet club stoped selling orijen and Acana so now hopefully more people are supporting this smaller business instead of one of the big box stores. I'm an employee of PC so I receive 25% off of dog food there but since getting rid of orijen and acana, I refuse to feed my dog a lesser of quality dog food. I found Pet Planet years ago after shopping at Pet Club before that. What I appreciate most and continue to shop with them for is the knowledge their employees are willing to share. In addition to having strongly competitive pricing, you can ask their associates questions about food allergies, illnesses, and general animal nutrition and feel that you left having learned something new. They are considerate of their patrons and check in on your animals well being during store visits and with follow up calls if you made a change to your animals' diets. They offer bulk discounts on treats and cans as well as a program where you get a free bag of food after purchasing so many. I went to the newly opened Pet Planet store in Queen Creek Az. in the New Queen Creek District shopping center on Ellsworth Loop. I was excited that there was a DIY Dog Wash available. I went ..paid my $10.00 ..what a deal..NOT!!!... NEVER AGAIN !!!! #1. NO Hot water.. the clerk said they had had that complaint a lot but the owner said they didn't need heated water because its ARIZONA! #2 NO shampoo. the dispenser was empty I had to buy overpriced shampoo and conditioner from store... (over 20.00 for cheapest they had..now the "good deal" has turned into same price had I taken dog to a Groomer) Not done yet.. # 3 the end of the dryer hose kept popping off ..There are no grooming tables so you have to dry dog in wet tub..Hose did NOT reach my dog so I could not dry her belly or legs .... # 4 NO brushes or grooming tools. I took dog home wet and unbrushed. I will never go back... Not the way to get business....:( read more
