My family has been going here for the past years. I came for deep cleaning today for the first time here. I was very impressed and satisfied with everything. I will never say this to any dentist place: "I can't wait for the next visit." Everyone made me feel comfortable and relaxed. I'm not a big fan of going to the dentist because of the drilling sounds. My wife took two of my kids went to this dentist- came back with a estimates of $6348.00 including several root canals. Went to another dentist for an estimate and was told that most of the work was not necessary or not needed at this time. Did a root canal on my 15 year old daughter. Wondering if she even needed it. Feel betrayed by their dishonest or at the very least overly aggressive business practices. Sadly this review is buried under lots of positive reviews. Buyer beware. I've been going to HPD for 3+ years. Myself and three kids consistently 2x per year for cleanings. I just received a letter from Dr. Lonnie Eckman letting me know he won't be able to continue servicing me and my family. I refused to pay a 25.00 unexpected fee for fluoride that his hygienist told me was covered under my insurance. In fact, when asked if I wanted fluoride I said only if it's covered. She confirmed that it was, she checked. I don't ask for or pay for elective procedures so when you tell me it's "covered, you checked" I trust you. After talking to the extremely rude office manager who told me it's MY responsibility to know my insurance, I asked to talk directly to Dr. Eckman. Clearly he chose to waive the 25.00 fee but also now refuses to treat my family any longer. Don't waste your time here. Out of the top 10 Gilbert dentists on yelp...they are THE ONLY office that has a 6 month warranty on their crowns. All others have a 3+ year warranty. I had to deal with the rude office manager regarding my crown that cracked in under a year. YES, I signed a form saying I accepted the 6 month warranty but it wasn't until speaking with a friend who works at a dentist office that I was told 6 months is unheard of. After reading other reviews, looks like there have been others that had the pleasure of dealing with Cheryl the rude, aggressive, condescending office manager. She told me, the only time she has to deal with me is when I can't pay my bill. Excuse me...you can't get treatments until you pay in full. I dealt with her on my cracked crown and the 25.00 fee that her hygienist confirmed was covered. Thank you Dr. Eckman for doing me a favor and making me get a new dentist. I WAS a patient at Higley Park Dental. However, do to lack of communication and EXTREMELY bad service from the billing department (Cheryl) I was forced to part ways. I had a normal cleaning in January of this year, was told at checkout that I have a previous balance of ~$66. due to X-rays, they would look into that and advise. In February I get a bill for $124.80 which should several credits made. I went to the the office to understand the all charges and payments, also paid the bill. When I later reviewed the information provided against my own financial records and have questions I was yelled at, spoken down to, and told I have all the information leave me alone. I requested to speak to one of the dentists that employed the women, and was told NO that this was her job and to leave it alone. Even when I request again to be communication with the individual of management of the person that hired her, I was told No. I am in absolute shock, that a representative of a company would speak to anyone that way!!! This is why I have chosen to take my families business somewhere else. read more

I called as a new patient and provided all of my insurance information. It was verified that they accept my insurance, and were taking new patients, but they were pretty booked out. No problem. I waited a month and a half for my appointment to roll around and was called on THE DAY OF my appointment to be informed they didn't take my insurance after all and they couldn't see me unless I wanted to pay out of pocket. I was floored. If the competency of front office staff is any indicator for how the practice is run, I would be challenged to recommend this business. I've been forced to xray every year regardless if I'm having issues and told my insurance will pay for them so I must get them. My body/my choice- and none of their business what my personal reasons are. They have Sept 2021 xrays- and every year previous. They push extensive expensive procedures and the turnover in this office is appalling- I've never seen the same staff twice except the dentists. Their office manager approached in an extremely confrontation, intimidating and bullying fashion and flat out refused to proceed with my cleaning until I submitted to xrays- which I did not. I have always been given the choice with any other provider. This is the first time in my entire adult life I didn't get a cleaning within 6-7 months due to their "protocol", siting "licensing" and the law to me. Ridiculous, and appallingly negligent. This Dentist is 100% greed driven and no real care is given at all. Skip this place if you know what's good for you and your wallet! read more

I loved this office. I believed that they cared for their patients beyond financial gain, but I now have had my eyes opened by receiving care from another, more reasonably priced, dentist. Although I have not received treatment from this office for some years now, my son, my baby sister, and myself were consistent patients, but I decided to part ways after I felt like I was being overcharged. I received a bill from them for services that I paid for, from over 2 years ago, and I know I paid because the cost was astronomical and it hit my wallet hard. I paid $600 for 2 back molar fillings for my sister. I was shocked at the out of pocket cost, even after insurance, but I just did what needed to be done. My son now has the same issue with the back molars, but our new dentist is only charging $107 dollars out of pocket after insurance. I have the same insurance, and we are still receiving services in Gilbert, so location has not affected the price in anyway. I asked the receptionist why there would be such a large difference in price??? She explained that each office can charge what they want, and even though there are fee caps they can still charge the maximum. I feel swindled and taken advantage of, but live and learn. I would suggest a second opinion if you feel that the costs are extremely high. read more

I'm on the fence w the office. I was scheduled for a cleaning which ultimately ended up being a consult that took 75 minutes. The dentist advised I would need some extractions. I'm not sure why the cleaning didn't happen? Then the front desk said I would need $500-$750 for anasthesia. This has been covered by my insurance on previous occasions. The front desk said "it could be covered but we don't process it. You have to submit a claim"...no, I chose to go to a different office for extractions. Update: I will be seeing if another office can do a cleaning. Took the afternoon off from work for a scheduled cleaning. Exrays, gum measurements (twice in one sitting), dentist consult. That took 35 minutes then I was told that there was no time left for my cleaning. I was provided an estimate that includes $50 charge for some rinse. I've never paid anything for preventative care. And, my gums weren't really bad. If you plan a cleaning; consider it will be stretched out a minimum of 2 appointments. Never had this w previous dentist but chose HPD when I relocated. Now, I'll see if my former dentist office can do cleaning (although the X-ray allowance may be used up). read more

My hislusband went here for years. The dentist was fine and we liked that they had Saturday appointments but they dont honor their commitment. "Lifetime" whitening (one tone free with each cleaning) evidently isnt profitable for them so they quit honoring it. I have been a patient here for a year. In the fall last year I had a filling in a back molar. When I when back for tooth sensitivity I was told I would need a root canal in December. I was told not to pull the tooth because you should keep the tooth over implants. I have had on/off tooth pain in the last 10 month since. When I went in today the dr looked at the notes provided by the endodontist in December that there is still a root issue. So they want to do more work on the same tooth. While I try to understand the more work can be needed on a tooth/problem area I am struggling to understand why they have note in the system that there is an issue. Is their business model for patients to pay to have their work fixed 3+ times? read more

The first time I came to this office was when I had a severe tooth ache late on a Friday my former dentist office was already closed and didn't have Saturday hours but Dr Eckman's office was able to squeeze me in on Saturday. That was three years ago and I haven't looked back. Dr Eckman is an awesome dentist. He has the chair side manner if a great nurse. The focus if a military man. Both of witch he was in the past. His dental work is top notch. The hygienist are wonderful. The office staff are responsive and are great at providing a care plan and clear about cost of procedures. The prices are very reasonable. I have to start by saying I hate, hate, hate, hate going to the dentist! I have not been in 14 years, and then the pain of a broken tooth got to be too much. I listened to a friend who said to go here. So I did. Living in North Phoenix the location was not ideal. But I will never go anywhere else! The staff knows you by name from day one, even if you don't use your legal first name. They are so friendly and welcoming I wish every medical or pretty much anything I have to do in life that I don't wanna, could be handled by them. I really have nothing but good things to say so I'll continue... The comedy! This guy man he's trying to break the mold on what a dentist should be! I could see hanging out at a bbq with him! He is so real and kind and sincere. Ever felt at home at the dentist? No, well then make an apt and put your feet up:) The hygienist and all the staff are so sweet and funny. Everyone is smiles! And not fake "I have to be at work" smiles, these people really love their jobs and it shows. And they are super affordable and take insurance! Even my company's stupid self insurance. I was in the market for a new dentist. So I gave Higley Park Dental a try. The office is nice and the staff wonderful. I was seen at my appointment time. The doctor, Lonnie Eckman, is great. I was impressed with how he talked with me and didn't try to sell procedures or stuff that I didn't need. I've been disappointed with other dentist offices that try to up sell stuff. The staff is great but the head dentist a piece of shit. He lies and tells you one thing and then does not follow up. How come I went and had a regular cleaning that is covered by insurance and then I recieved a bill from you guys ? I asked 4 times while in the office if I had any bill for this visit and you all said no. When I finally decided to bite the bullet and get some dental work taken care of, I chose Higley Park Dental Care due to all the high ratings on Yelp. I couldn't be happier! Dr. Eckman (and all of the office staff) are extremely knowledgeable, patient, and kind. They explain everything in copious detail and make sure you have every option available to you. I have never felt more comfortable knowing that the person working on my mouth knows exactly what they're doing and is going to make sure that I understand what is being performed and that I will be comfortable with it as well. I was going to this office the past 12 years. I'm sad to say I will no longer return here though my kids and I love Britney, who has such a beautiful heart and is an amazing hygienist. Dr. Eckman and all of the previous dentists before him (Dr. Kim and Dr. Tiffany) were great! But yesterday, when their VERY RUDE office manager called me, I told her she was rude, but for her to only literally tell me I was rude and started raising her voice and talking over me. Never have I received such POOR & UNPROFESSIONAL customer service! To tell me I owe a bill without even trying to get the New 2018 INSURANCE INFORMATION is someone clueless about how their office should run especially with a medical billing sense. I advised her to contact my sons father as it's his insurance policy and she told me as a parent I should take responsibility of my son! I was very appalled! I love my children and take very great care of them; I'm not sure how that even relates to her needing to do her job! That's is a NEGATIVE REMARK I will not look over especially to a very successful single parent mother that has worked very hard to make her children successful!
