He said I needed extensive and expensive work when the Kapolei location had a different opinion. Made an appointment and again had to wait another month for that. Decided to try to go to the Kapolei location but they did not have an appointment available for over 3 months. This after I had made an app with them before and it was canceled due to doctor being unable to come in. Both locations have me super frustrated and disappointed and in pain having to wait months to get cavity fixed. Would not waste time with unfriendly staff and lack of availability. Should have looked elsewhere after second appointment issue.

He has already done four dental implants for me that cost well over $25,000. I trusted him with major, expensive work and expected the same level of care and respect when I returned with another tooth issue. Instead, Dr. Okano examined the tooth and immediately pushed for extraction with zero explanation of why saving it wasn't possible. When I clearly told him I did not want the tooth pulled and wanted to explore a root canal to preserve it, he refused to discuss any alternatives. I politely asked for a referral to an endodontist for a second opinion -- a completely reasonable request before an irreversible procedure. He flat-out refused. No reasons were given. No discussion of risks, benefits, or options. He simply placed a temporary filling and left me hanging, all because I dared to ask for a specialist consultation and a second opinion. After investing tens of thousands of dollars with this practice, I was shocked and disappointed by how little regard he showed for my wishes or my right to informed consent. This is not the patient-centered care I expected from someone who markets himself as providing comprehensive, state-of-the-art dentistry. If you're facing a potential root canal versus extraction, think twice before seeing Dr. Okano. He seems far more interested in pulling teeth than in working with patients who want every reasonable chance to save them. I will not be returning and strongly advise others to look elsewhere if they value autonomy and tooth preservation. Extremely disappointed.

I scheduled the appointment and called them back with all the information they asked for that I didn't have the first time when I scheduled the appointment. They needed to verify the insurance prior to the appointment to provide service. When I showed up to the location for my appointment they asked for all of the same information I provided a week prior. I told the representative that that was provided a week earlier in three different phone calls. I really felt bad for the nice representative she told me they did not have any information and sometimes the answering service takes information. This type of practice is unacceptable. They really need to do better. Please be wary !!

So…read morepreviously I have seen this dentist since I moved to hoopili back in 2022 but only recently started seeing this clinic in 2023. At first this place seem to be good/decent so I kept my dentist here. All visits was good until my cleaner recently got pregnant and I got switched to someone new I never got my teeth cleaned before. So I ended up getting this older woman who cleaned my teeth twice and let me tell you, she was horrific!!! She made me feeel uncomfortable and kept talking. She kept telling jokes as she cleaned my teeth and I couldn't answer her as she cleaned my teeth. The first time I thought she was just being "nice" and probably was nervous? I dont know but I wanted to give her a second chance on my second visit. Nope, it was jsut as worst and annoyed! On my third visit, I was really hoping I didn't get her but I'm so glad I didn't! It looked like she probably quit that place! Thank you because she was too weird to be working at a place that have young people working there. She didn't culturally fit in. This is one of the reasons I gave 1 star. Now, the ultimate REASON for this 1 star is my recent experience. So I had to appointment scheduled on a Saturday 11am. Mind you, the office called me on Friday nearly almost 5pm at around 440ish and left me a voicemail stating that they couldn't validate my insurance and that I already had a balance of about $86.xx. The lady who spoke to me stated "she does not know where the balance came from but I owed them that amount". So I proceed to call back. When I did NO ANSWER! And this was about 445pm right after I have missed the call and checked voicemail. When I got a hold of someone the NEXT day of my appointment (couple hours before), I spoke to someone and gave her my new insurance info AND asked her where they balance came from. Now she told me that they couldn't verify my insurance and HAD TO RESCHEDULE MY APPOINTMENT TO NEXT WEEK. Then she proceeds to tell me that my $86.xx is from FLOURIDE. This is outrageous because when I was offered this fluoride treatment, the front people told me IT WAS COVERED. Now they are telling me insurance won't pay for it because I am "OUT OF AGE". This is ridiculous. If they had checked before hand I wouldn't have took the FLOURIDE treatment. This is owed for 2023 and 2024 two treatments. This is so sad that they do not know how to do their jobs! On top of that, when I called back on another day for them to "VERIFY" my new insurance, one of the ladies told me that they didn't have my "new" insurances in there when I in fact had given it to them when I had to reschedule my damn appointment!!! MANAGEMENT: PLEASE RETRAIN YOUR STAFF. I did like coming here but now it's time to find a new dentist after all these mishaps that could have been prevented.
