I've been to several dentists over the years, and Dr. Kanon has been my favorite by far. She is incredibly kind and has a very calming, preventative approach to dentistry. I hesitate to leave this review in case it makes it harder to get in for my upcoming appointments. This is my third dentist in the South Bay because the others stopped accepting my insurance. I'm so glad I found Dr. Kanon because her office is everything a dentist's office should be. I booked an urgent appointment because I was having pain prior to going out of the country, and they were so responsive and set me up quickly. Every single person is compassionate and warm, including the doctor herself. This wasn't a painful cleaning in the way some others have been, as they used some kind of ultrasonic tool. Dr. Kanon is incredibly patient and she thoroughly explains her work, if you ask. I had been reluctant to try Invisalign as I felt that my teeth would not respond to the treatment. I love Dr. Kanon. She is so sweet and so are all of the workers there. I used to come in and tell her about my jaw pain, headaches and tooth sensitivity. She recommended that I do Invisalign. Dr. Kanon, Huy, Lori and everyone I interact with at the office is friendly and kind. As someone who has had terrible teeth my entire life, I'm a bit of a dental care connoisseur and the bedside manner, finesse, information, every aspect of having dental work here has been exceptional. My first two appointments I was grateful and impressed by how much of a breeze it was to get crowns done. My third appointment there was a bit of hiccup; I thought I was getting my final cavity filled as well as getting the crown placed but they hadn't planned on it; we tried to squeeze it in to a half hour but I should have known better. I had to come back for another appointment instead of being finished in one, which of course is not ideal, but they compensated me with a bit of free cosmetic work which definitely helped. I'm writing this update to caution anyone from getting Invisalign services from a dentist. This is not to malign Dr. Kanon - I stick fully by my previous review of her as a dentist - but my experience with Invisalign through Dr. Kanon was frankly quite bad and frankly a massive waste of money. After completing about two years of Invasalign through Dr. Kanon's office, I made two distressing discoveries: First, my bite problems had not been fixed at all. I trusted her and Invisalign generally to correct my teeth such that they would fit together properly. They didn't fit together when I went in, and they didn't fit together after about five thousand dollars spent to fix them. It's very hard to explain in text, but they *sort of* fixed the one tooth that was wildly out-of-place, but the underlying problem was, to be honest, not fixed at all. Second, retainers: Again, I trusted this team to handle my needs in perpetuity. However, after I ordered a second run of retainers, I was told that they couldn't keep sending me more past five years. (This was not explained to me at any point during the treatment.) To be frank: It was extremely disheartening to hear this as my tooth continued to drift, and continued to exacerbate my overbite. The worst part: I went to an orthodontist after this whole saga, and she told me that she had never heard of any limitation on Invisalign retainers; the ones her office makes are good basically forever, and there's no arbitrary limit on when they can be made again or re-sent. Another important thing to mention is that this new orthodontist uses a wealth of "attachments" (little pieces of epoxy or something attached to the teeth) to create leverage to move them around. I don't think Dr. Kanon's office has any awareness of this aspect of orthodontia, and this is why I really recommend you go elsewhere for Invisalign. Dentists may be great at dentistry; I think they should stay in their lane w.r.t. orthodontics. read more

I can highly recommend Dr. Kanon and her staff for your Invisalign treatments. My original treatment plan to correct my increasingly 'out of alignment' teeth was estimated to be about 1 1/2 years. The 1st step in the process (after initial molds of the bite to determine how to best proceed) was to attach some small "buttons" on several teeth that needed to move the most. As my teeth moved, she would file these down and/or remove them one by one as required. As I have a small mouth, she would also periodically file a tiny bit of enamel off between some of the teeth to allow more room for the teeth to move as the re-alignment took shape. From start to finish, I received new sets of Invisalign trays frequently as my teeth continued to move into place. After 1 1/2 years, she thought I could improve my smile even a bit more, so she gave me the option to continue for another 6 months at no additional charge to me. Win! Win! As part of the treatment plan and cost, all X-rays, all Invisalign trays, all my Invisalign visits to see Dr. Kanon and my initial 5 year set of retainers after I completed the treatment course were covered. I love my smile now and thank Dr. Kanon and her wonderful staff who helped me make that a reality. But remember - YOU have to put in the work too! During treatment, you have to wear your Invisalign trays 21-22 hours per day and once treatment is completed, you have to continue to wear your retainers at night for the rest of your life to maintain that beautiful smile of yours. This was my first visit to this dentist and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I came in about 5 minutes early and checked in. They came out to get me right on time. Dr. Kanon came in and actually looked at all the forms I filled out and talked to me about the few things that might change the way that she would treat me. I was given a full set of X-rays which happened quickly and they I got my teeth cleaned. Absolutely no pain....that was a first. Dr Kanon had taken some pictures of the inside of my mouth to go over with me. A tooth that was bothering me didn't look to concerning in the X-ray but the pictures that were taken of it showed multiple cracks and now I understand why it is bugging me. Dr Kanon went over what she saw that she thought might give me issues in the future and discussed it with me. I had a Molar that had its 12 year old Crown come off, with no real pain. I called Dr. Kanon's emergency line and she got back in under a half hour, they were able to fit me in the next day! She quickly evaluated my tooth and found that both the tooth and crown were still in good shape and didn't need to be replaced. Fortunately they had the right tools in their office to properly clean and remove old mounting remnants for it to be put back in place. After a short time it was back in and feeling great again. I had my first visit at Dr. Kanon's office last week to establish care, take x-rays, and perform prophylaxis+polish after not seeing a dentist for ~1.5-2 years. Throughout the procedure, Dr. Kanon was gentle and detailed. I liked that she took pictures of problem areas or other points of interest on my teeth and explained her thoughts/hypotheses on how these areas came to be. Huy performed the x-rays, assisted during tartar removal, and performed the polishing - he was effective and gentle during all phases. After the procedure was complete, Dr. Kanon identified some existing fillings that needed to be removed and replaced. At the front desk, Lori walked me through the costs for the follow-up procedure and provided a detailed breakdown of the procedure cost, estimated insurance coverage, and estimated actual cost after insurance coverage. Overall a great first visit, and I look forward to my follow-up procedure and know I will be in good hands. I highly recommend Dr. Kanon's practice. read more
