So I don't know the review that says that Calvins won't repair jewelry that wasn't purchased there. Last week I went in with a gemstone ring (*not* purchased from Calvins) that I wanted made into a necklace and they were happy to do it for me. I paid for the repair and a gold chain. When I went to pick it up, it was not what I asked for, but when I explained what I had actually wanted and clarified my thoughts, they fixed it for me very quickly. The woman helping me, Kathleen, was very sweet and I appreciated that she wanted to make sure I was happy before I left the store the second time. My piece wasn't a big-ticket item like their engagement rings or vintage jewelry, but they treated me with respect anyway. My request might have been less expensive at a different store (and they turned down my request to melt down another piece of mine to make a ring, because they don't do that in-house) but their customer service is top notch.

I like that hey have petite pieces as well as more elaborate ones. In addition, they sell natural as well as lab created diamonds. I do not own in lab created diamonds but I do know they are growing in popularity because they test as a diamond and they have a significantly lower price point. After pleasantly chatting with Sydney for a bit, she created a two item wish list for husband. I am sure that the hubs will be rushing down to Avant Garde to fulfill my wish list. Not! He checked the size for me and made the adjustment. When we determined it was too tight, I asked if he could swap it back. After he audibly scoffed with obvious frustration, he decided that he needed to check to make sure I truly purchased the watch from their store prior to replacing the link. In addition to that, he had an associate ask if he knew anything of a stone left in a cleaner and he responded unprofessionally and rudely. What an uncomfortable experience. The South Austin store is by far the better store for service overall experience. They are fantastic at that location. Make the 25 minute drive.

Hilderbrand Jewelers fixed two watches that another watch repair business told me (without even…read moreopening up the watches) would cost $150 or upwards to repair. I was shocked and very disappointed as the watches weren't even valued at that yet one of the watches had tremendous sentimental value. I then took them to another jewelry shop and they sent me to Hilderbrand Jewelers. When I brought my watches in the gentleman who greeted me took my watches to the back for evaluation. In a very short time, he came back and told me that both watches could be repaired for $25 each. They just needed to order the parts. I was SO happy!!! My watches were ready in just under a week and I couldn't be more pleased!!! I will take all my watch repair needs to Hilderbrand Jewelers in the future. They also had beautiful jewelry! When I picked up my watches I learned that this is a family owned business and it shows!

I will forever come here for any sizing or repairs. I was missing a small diamond on the ring and they had the right size in stock and everything. I have never seen such amazing service or same day. And not even just same day... I think it was about 3 hours... the last place I had a ring repaired it was mailed off for over a week and cost 3 times as much. Hilderbrand has gotten a life customer out of me. Also reminds me i need to take some other things in so ill add another review after those rings and watches!
