I had my car get stuck in my garage due to the garage door would not open and they wanted to charge me a 200.00 service fee which I had no choice to get back to work I was on my lunch hour and the work was still under warranty the did not charge me for parts and labor due to the fact the pins were falling out of the track of the garage. It had to be repaired to work. They should not be charging people when work was done incorrectly the first time. Would not recommend them for repairs. read more

We had an issue with a garage door sealer and tried to get it replaced. Evidently, the garage door brand's garage door sealer was difficult to order and this went on for a couple of months. After two weeks, they finally came to replace the door sealer. IT took them a while to work on it but they got it done! I was very impressed with the work that they did. I could tell that they had a little problem with it but they persevered and got it installed. Good for them! Overall, the crew that came (Roddy and George) worked well together so it was good to see that. The sealer is installed and that's good. They gave me a few pointers to keep the door in great shape. read more

Made an "emergency" call on a weekend, as our one year-old Overhead door was malfunctioning and stuck in the open position. I was informed of a $245 "emergency fee" for a weekend call, which I agreed to pay. The tech arrived and went to work. Not only did he fix the problem, he cleaned-up the shoddy installation work(loose, main springs; multiple, missing screws; poorly-aligned rails; incorrectly-mounted door-stop lights) , showing me everything he was doing. I was impressed. I paid the fee, happily, though I was not happy to learn about the sloppy installation. When my statement arrived, I found that I was charged a $165 additional fee. I called the Boerne office and was told that the $245 was for the weekend phone call and the $165 was the tech's fee. I don't mind the $165 for the tech, but $245 to answer the phone? read more

I had an issue with my electric gate opener. I tried everything I know to no avail. A technician made the scene and was knowledgeable about my opener and how to diagnose the problem. I've had other gate companies out in the past for other issues and their technician couldn't diagnose the problem and just wanted to sell me a complete new system. We requested Hill Country Overhead Doors to evaluate our garage doors after we had a power surge. One of them stopped working and the other required the button to be held to shut it. I was working, so they talked to my wife when they visited. They informed us that both would need to be entirely replaced for $1400, even though one of them was still partially working (minus the sensors) and the house was a just built a month ago. Garage doors have to work, so we scheduled them to come out, but before they did, I decided to call LiftMaster. Apparently, a power surge is a common thing, and since the house was only a month old, which we told the HC overhead folks, the replacement board and door sensors we needed were under warranty. Any garage door pro should have known that the likely fix on a month old home after a surge when the sensor lights weren't turning on was the board and/or the sensors. LiftMaster support determined this in minutes over the phone. And because it was so new and under warranty, which the HC overhead tech also should have known, LiftMaster sent replacements for free. LiftMaster told me I should be able to DIY in a few minutes. It was true. It took me 15 minutes to install and now both garages work perfectly. The point is, this should be a very common easy fix that should have been obvious to any garage door installation professional. So either these folks are not aware of how to fix a very obvious common replacement that I fixed with minimal phone support from LiftMaster for free in a few minutes, or they were just trying to scam us out of $1400 to unnecessarily replace an entire month old setup. Either way, I would not recommend them. read more

Called Hill Country Overhead Door again after my last good experience (see my earlier good review) when my garage opener wouldn't open. Mark, the install tech, replaced the old inoperative opener & upgraded both garage doors with quiet rollers. No noise when either door is opened. What makes a 5 rating (and I say 5+) is when the new opener didn't work! The new unit was installed less than 2 weeks ago! I call overhead & the pleasant customer service rep I spoke to put me on a brief hold.....Yes, we can have someone there this afternoon. Wow-that's customer service. Turns out it was a simple loose wire connection which was corrected in 10 minutes. It's not the loose wire, but their quick response to fix the issue that counts as a consumer. I still recommend this company & Mark the install tech. read more

I wouldn't give them half a star. They installed 7 commercial doors in our fire station. 9 times now in the first year, doors have come crashing down uncontrollably, crushing the panels. They have done nothing to rectify this and now claim it's not their problem as it's been over a year. After the second door fell, if I was the owner, I would have personally come out to ensure the safety of the people relying on my install. Even the doors they did fix have fallen again. Their response time was weeks to months, and they still have done nothing to repair some of the doors or replace crushed panels. Choose anyone else! read more

Stay away from Mark. I just needed a simple lock replaced, after waiting a few days I finally got someone out here. After Mark left, I soon realized the door didnt lock. I called him back and he told me he was already gone and couldnt come back till next week. Called the office twice and was treated very rudely by Kate. Eventually after asking for a refund, they finally sent a new tech out. Jay was the new tech and if I could, I would give that man FIVE STARS. He was so friendly and quickly identified the problem (one that I was able to figure on my own anyway, so not sure how Mark missed it). He worked quickly and left me with a secure door. Cant recommend Jay enough but unfortunately due to my experiences with Mark and Kate, I have to leave a low rating. Not to mention, the bill was over twice the estimate. We bought a new garage door in 2018 from Overhead Door. We've had them out 4 times since then and we've paid enough to purchase a new door. The repair fees are outrageous and they don't stand behind their product - their warranty is a joke. It's unfortunate, because their repair staff are very courteous and helpful. The keypad to my garage door just suddenly stopped working. My first call was to the folks at Hill Country Overhead Door. The team there is courteous and quick! I received an estimate and the next day Roddy and George arrived to help. They called 15 minutes prior to arriving and were on time and ready to work at the appointed time. Just recently I had them out again, was charged $85 for a 'free' estimate (they did refund me after I called them on it). But they told me I needed to replace the whole opener for over $700. The nest week a handyman fixed it - the opener was working. Not sure what has changed since my last service but I won't be using them again. read more

Positive: the work was done for the initial price quoted. Negative: Arrived an hour late after giving a time, not a range, of when they would arrive. Work was completed four hours later. We were told it would be completed in two hours - "easy". This was probably due to them sending out only one person to do the installation. They came out on the same day and got my garage door closed, but the fee for that seemed high. They agreed to replace the spring the following day and would deduct the fee from the total charge. I never heard from them again. No call, no nothing. I don't know why they went to the trouble to get listed with the Better Business Bureau if they don't want your business.
