They were going to put me on the schedule the first day, they did not. The second day I was going to be first thing in the morning, received a call in the late evening saying the tech had his suspension go out. The third day I was supposed to be first thing on the schedule in the morning. 10 am I called and they were going to try and have someone out by 3. Rolling Garage door was stuck about 6 months after a repair by an unlicensed handyman. He installed a new spring after the old one had busted. Helotes Overhead had a man out the following morning. The problem was the new spring - too heave for a single door and it caused too much sideways tension on the tracks, bound up the wheels. I expected to replace the spring. Instead he was able to take the tension off the wheels by moving some pins? The rail was also missing a brace from the original installation. He added it. Now the door is aligned and tracks like new. these guys know what theyre doing. They're fast, hones and will save you money. read more

I contracted Helotes to replace 3 bay garage doors. Nathan, with whom I spoke, acted on my order quickly, was on property within 72 hours, bid the job the same day and was back on property to install the new doors within the week. After replacement, we realized the garage door trim color did not match the installed doors, and within 4 days they were back out to full paint the doors to match the trim. Helotes Overhead Garage is fairly priced, got the job done quickly as anyone could ask for and Nathan communicated within hours of anything I asked of them. First, I am very pleased with the expense, work and the product. James (the young man who installed my new overhead garage door) had just the right amount of "Cool and Professionalism." Unfortunately, communication with the office (Joyce) was extremely poor. I had to call many times (after the initial home visit) to get a correct quote. At least 5 times and 4 weeks time. I never really got the exact quote that I needed either. Also, I was not told about a 3% charge to pay with debit card until it was time to pay. If I had been told sooner I could have gotten a money order and saved $33. I would loved to have dealt with the young man who initially came to my home but never spoke with him again. Even after asking to. I would tell a friend to use Helotes Overhead but it would come with a warning about service/communications. read more

Their technician came out and in a wonderful display of ethics, confirmed that the parts I had ordered were correct and didn't try to sell me anything additional. They did a great job with the installation. It was not a normal garage, so they had to adapt some of the hardware to make it work. The only issue I had was they forgot to order windows and had to come back later and swap two panels out. But they made good on it. That small hiccup is the only reason I can't quite give them 5 stars. I would definitely use them again though. read more

We called Helotes Overhead to check out our door opener that was sporadically working. They first corrected some faulty wiring but it still acted up. So Nathan opened it up and determined a problem with the circuit board was causing the problem. He also said that the door, which had a dent between the panels from an accident 5 years ago was putting a lot of stress on the opener. Bottom line, for a great price, we got a new door, LiftMaster opener and 3 remotes. So please give them a call for any garage door problems you may have. You won't be sorry. read more

Our garage door broke yesterday afternoon and we called the people who last serviced it, Helotes. The woman on the phone said someone would be out last night or early this morning. By one o'clock I got a call that the guards at our gated community would not admit the service tech because his drivers license was expired. The head of security checked and no one from the company had tried to get in. For the last two hours I have been calling the company and getting an answering machine but no one has called me back. This family owned company installed my garage door opener a year ago and the service was great. I had to call them back out for a repair due to lightning hitting my home causing the logic board of opener to go out. We had some scheduling problems due to various reasons and I wasn't too pleased with office staff lack of communication. However, the owner Nathan gave me a call and explained the situation and offered to come over personally to make the repair. He even went beyond the repair needed and tightened the chain and lubricated the rollers. Nathan is very professional and you can see that happy customers are very important to him. I called yesterday (Wednesday)n spoke with Joy or Joyce. She gave me a quote to repair broken springs. Said she would call me back with a time to come over. Never called. I called her later in day n she said there were 4 calls ahead of me if I would like to set up for first thing in the morning Thursday (today). I said yes. She said Wes would call me in the morning when he was on the way. No show or call in the morning. I called at 10 to find out what time to expect him and she asked for my address n name again and then said oh I'm sorry. I don't have his itinerary in front of me. He usually leaves it but he didn't. Let me call him and find out. Asked for my number again. At 11:30 I called again and she said omg I'm sorry. Wes was just here and I forgot to ask him! Let me call him and find out. Asked for address and phone number again cuz she apparently doesn't keep it. It's already 3 pm and no call back!! I called 1Choice garage doors at 12 and he quoted me just $10 more than Helotes and said someone will be there between 2-4! It's 3:03 and the guy just called and said he's on his way!! And still crickets from Helotes Garage Doors!!! Worst customer service ever! Why have someone like Joyce working the phones when she has no clue what she's doing! That or they don't like doing work for Hispanics! I don't know but when someone calls you and requests something and you say you will call them back with info.. the professional thing to do is call them back! I'm trying to get it fixed in case we have a hailstorm tonight or tomorrow and I want my car in my garage. I can't lift it open. Would I reccomend this company? No.. I like to support family owned businesses so thats why I went with this company. Joyce was sweet and pleasant over the phone. Nathan came the next day and quoted me for a new door and assured me that before his company left my house I would have a fully functioning garage door. On 9/7 James comes to take care of my garage door, asks for payment, and says Nathan the owner will come back to connect our motor to the new garage door. I found that unsuall but I figured they must know what they are doing. Its now 9/11 and I had not gotten a call from them so I decited to call them and spoke with Jennifer. She had no idea what I was talking about. She was under the impression that the job was completed. She calls me back and tells me James says I need a new motor. At this point I have talked to 4 different people . I am being told different things . I can understand that a price can change if a quote is given and at the time of service there is more work or parts needed. None of which was told to us the day of the garage door install. Had it been true that a new motor was needed it should have been brought to our attention with the new cost for it. A customer shouldn't have to pay for miscommunication between employees... At this point I feel I have been lied to and misled.. I do not know what words were exchanged between Nathan and James about the job details but I do know that when the owner himself gives me his word that when his company Helotes Overhead Garage Doors leaves my house, I will have a fully functioning garage door and that doesnt happen, I loose faith in his word, and his company looses validity ...
