We have been very happy with the purchase of our new home. A few months back, Scott emailed us and asked us if we were interested in refinancing our home because the rates were attractively low, and we could save a few hundred dollars that could use them to cover other expenses. We have bought our home back in May '18 with the Hill Team. I had a previous review that states how difficult it was, given we had only 2 years history in the country, we needed to get gift funds in, etc. but how Hill Team made it easy. I am very happy that I followed the advice about working with a local, reputable mortgage team. Now, in only 9-10 months, we were able to refinance with Hill team to take advantage of year-low rates. We got rid of the PMI (which was significant) and cut additionally 10% off the principal+interest. And it was as easy as it can get, again. And we were able to work with a funding company with a better reputation which was the icing on the cake. Maybe I might have been able to shave a few bucks more off my bill (maybe not) by shopping around, but I didn't even think about it, plus most of the time it is not worth the time spent. Trust and peace of mind are more important to me. I would not be able to buy my home at all if I did not meet Scott and Lisa. Scott and Lisa are like a yin-yang. We all know the Nordstrom standard of service and I think Scott and Lisa have a very similar approach. It's exceptional. They are very friendly, extremely responsive and make the process simple. I honestly kept putting off a refinance because numbers and paperwork are not my favorite but Scott would check in every so often (without being annoying) and remind me I could save some money. When I finally got started, Scott was very thorough in his explanation of line items and even sent videos to go with the summary sheets so I could review everything at my convenience. I initially walked into Scott's office sometime in 2008 or 2009. I met with Scott to learn what I needed to do in order to become a first-time homebuyer. He gave me a lot of really great information and my wife and I left his office with a 9-12 month plan on paying down our debts and improving our credit scores. Towards the end of that 12 months, we approached Scott again and were quickly pre-approved for a little over our target budget. When we found the house we wanted, Scott and his team were absolutely instrumental in helping us navigate the short-sale process. The entire process took about 3-6 months (due to the selling bank dragging its heels) and Scott's team gave us periodic status updates whether or not there was any new information. We bought the house in October 2010, and just recently (July 2013) refinanced the mortgage with Scott's team. The refinance was a breeze and they found a way for us to save a couple hundred dollars a month and we actually made money off the refinance (our out-of-pocket closing costs were less than the amount we got back from escrow). The Hill Team is very friendly, responsive, & reachable, and they are able to handle many requests and documents online through e-mail. They are a great resource for first-time homebuyers and actively remain engaged throughout the entire process, even years after the loan closes. read more

I was a first time home buyer and I started with one of the major banks. It was a very frustrating experience that the major bank loan officer didn't response to my questions and bank changed the loan officer a couple times. Then, my real estate agent introduced me to Scott Hill of American Pacific Mortgage. The experience was totally different started from the first day I met Scott and his team. During the first meeting, Scott walked me through the whole home purchase process in details and answered my questions and concerns patiently. He showed me how much house I could afford based on my actual down payment and monthly income and expenses; then, came up with a conservative estimation so I would not be surprised at the end. The estimation was very accurate indeed. He was very clear to me what to expect with the documentation requirements.
