This was the first place I came to when I did a winery tour a couple months ago. Our group was welcomed by Erick Kline (the winemaker) and Jerry and Rosie Webb, the owners of the vineyards. It wast neat to sip on wine, cheese, crackers, and some charcuterie while they shared stories with us. I got to see where the process of how they make the wines and where they store the grapes, and barrels. There is also a nice view where you can overlook San Pasqual Valley. We didn't stay too long since we had to go to our next stop. I did try a couple of wines before leaving though. The pinot gris had tropical notes of mango and melons and was refreshing. Next, I tried the GSM, which was unique and had earthy tones and was a bit dry. The Dirt Road Red was the last tasting I tried, and this red wine was very dense. I'll have to come back without doing a tour, so that I can spend more time here.

This is the kind of place I want to support! Jerry and Rosie are so incredibly sweet and expressed that they run this winery out of passion and not profit. We went on a rainy quiet day and they took us in as if we were family. They also treated us to some additional wines to taste which was very generous. It was an experience we won't forget, and we will definitely be back.

The place is open with great views to enjoy on a sunny day. The owner himself will serve you and he's a very nice gentleman who'll explain the wines. What I really enjoyed was how relaxing and quiet the space was for me to enjoy their wines all while listening to my audiobook. Best place to enjoy a nice sunny afternoon. Also their pricing is very reasonable with tasting and glass being at $10/each read more

The road is absolutely a little rough getting up there but worth the drive for sure. It's been 7 years since we had been here and we loved it. We have moved back and excited to come time and time again. Kids are welcome which is nice! Bring your snacks they totally allow that. The owners are the sweetest! Cheers! read more

This is the kind of place I want to support! Jerry and Rosie are so incredibly sweet and expressed that they run this winery out of passion and not profit. Wonderful winery overlooking the valley! We came on 4th of July. You have to drive up a dirt road for maybe less than a mile to the winery. We met the winemaker who was so friendly & told us all of their wines. I did a tasting of whites & reds & all were delicious! Dog friendly. read more

We've gone to quite a few wineries in the San Pasqual valley and Old Survey definitely is the best when it comes to the red wines. There was not a 1 we did not love but for us the Syrah truly stood out. The red wines we tasted were far more flavorful and interesting than other places we visIted. Possibly just as important were the people that own this winery. We met Jerry,Rosie and Eric the winemaker. They really really know what they're doing, their life and vineyard stories are interesting and the view of the SP valley is beautiful. As someone else posted don't let the long drive up the hill scare you. Its worth every mile. read more

Breathtaking views, and amazing reds wines. I truly enjoyed every wine I tasted. My favorite would have to be the Malbec, with Sangiovese being a close 2nd. The owners were welcoming, kind, and very friendly. We really enjoyed chatting to them. The perfect place to enjoy a bottle with a charcuterie board and good company. This is an amazing value. First you pick your way up Old Survey Rd (listed under the historic registry), the same road General Kearny came down to fight the failed battle of San Pasqual. Next you perch yourself in the gorgeous setting high above the valley floor. Then you sip amazingly flavorful hand crafter wine while watching the hawks, eagles and vultures ride the air rapids right in front of you. This is a magical place. Bring a sandwich or your favorite food pairings and enjoy. Try it soon because in no time this place will be very crowded. UPDATE JULY 2017 So I keep finding myself coming to this place again and again! Start your day at 11am and spend it at this family run gem of a winery. BRING FOOD! There is a BBQ there as well that you can prep your dogs on! read more

Absolutely lovely vineyard in Escondido. Family owned and run. The wines have been developed over the last few years by Eric, and Jerry, and Gary. They have done an excellent job in developing their wines. Not only Delicious tasting Wines, but a beautiful view to look at while you enjoy the wines. The family is very friendly and always interested in talking to you about their wines. The owners Jerry & Rosie are retired AT&T employees & have made a very special place to come taste wine & run into friends here. While there we saw old friends there. Made some new friends and definitely found a place I want to bring all my wine friends. read more

Definitely a hidden gem. The wines are better than all in the area and beyond, and the owners, Jerry and Rosie are so welcoming and gracious, we felt like we'd been there before. And by the way, we will be back! The tour of the barrel room was very much professional with a "home grown" touch. Hero was on watch with such a "woofly" personality. We were brought to this winery by Hidden City wine tours! Jerry and his wife were very welcoming visited with us while we tasted their wines! The views from their property of San Pasqual Valley are beautiful! I am so glad Ashlee recommended this winery as I dont think I would of found it on my own!! We will be back!! read more

Amazing wine! The people are so kind and welcoming. The views are spectacular! It's a great spot to picnic with wonderful wine, I've been several times this year and never had a bad glass. Not like some other local wineries, where your not sure if it will be good. Grenache, Barbera and Mourvèdre are my favorites! read more

Great wine tasting experience (and it's outdoors). Eric and Jerry were fine hosts. Delicious wines, especially enjoyed the Grenache and Cab. Beautiful property with sweeping views of the San Pasqual Valley and San Diego Zoo Wild Animal Safari below. We highly recommend stopping in here next time you're in north San Diego County. read more

It is a time to slow down and enjoy time with friends, familiy or loved one's in a scenic oasis. I really enjoyed our afternoon out to Mia Marie Vineyards. It was a breezy day and we had front row views in cozy chairs overlooking the valley. We completed a tasting of reds and whites, delicious. We also ordered the charcuterie, which the wind knocked off the table but we recovered the majority of the items, lost a few heart crackers, which staff immediately cleaned up. There is a food vendor on the weekend and the cheesy bread was the best! I will conduct a seperate review for them. Live music played on the terrace and the performer played many newer acoustic songs. On the way out, I picked up a puffer vest in a rose gold color, as it was a great value. When sitting on the patio on a cool day, they also have blankets that you can cover. I hope they will carry those blankets in a logo version in the future or bring them back if they exisited before. We will have to try the swing out on our next visit. Simply a beautiful setting... Note: They are pet friendly. A young lady brought her dog out for the day just to enjoy their time together. It was the perfect way to sample their wines while enjoying the scenery. We also ordered two pizzas: the Sunshine Cheese Delight and the Sunshine Meat Lover. Both were good and hit the spot. We added a large bag of Stellar Pretzel to share, and for dessert (because I absolutely have a sweet tooth), we tried the Sunshine Double Chocolate Cake and Tiramisu. I prefer sweeter wines and ordered the Rosa and Riesling , both were great and exactly what I was hoping for. A couple things to note: I had read in other reviews that there were servers, but when we visited, we ordered inside, were given a buzzer, and picked up our food ourselves. It was also pretty cold outside, and it took some time for the staff to turn on the warmers. We came on a Sunday and learned that live music starts at 3 PM. My husband and I definitely plan to come back for a date when there's live music playing. We were able to park near the top by the tasting room, which was convenient. There's also seating below near a beautiful waterfall and koi pond , it's a bit of a walk down (and back up). Overall, such a scenic spot with good food, sweet wine options, and a relaxing atmosphere. We'll be back!

One thing we love was their live music on Friday nights, but they have changed up their event calendars discontinuing music on Friday nights and only have it on Sundays. They also offer tasting menus, so you get healthy pours of different wines to try. They also offer some premade food for sale, charcuteries, hummus, crackers, cheeses. Plus there's a food truck that sells amazing burgers starting at 3. While we were there, there was live music being played in the Central courtyard. Guests could sit on their provided seating under a large shaded tree and some had their small dogs with them on leash. Because we were a medium size group and had made a reservation, we were placed in a separate room with plenty of inside and outside covered seating. The winemaker even gave us a tour of the facilities. Showing is the process from the grapes, to the hopper and ending with the barrels where they age. It's definitely worth driving out to visit this beautiful winery in Escondido.

I was wrong. It's not far off the 15 freeway in a small unassuming neighborhood. If you didn't know it was there you would never discover it. We arrived and took the last spot in the front parking lot. There is another parking lot, it seems like there's plenty of parking around. We found our party in a courtyard next to the tasting room. There was plenty of seating and tables for everyone, and it was sectioned off from the rest (if you need a private area). We went in the tasting room and tasted several wines before deciding. The staff were friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable about their wines. After we got our wine, we decided to walk the property. It's a very quaint, unique piece of property with old buildings and new ones made to look old (bathrooms). You can walk through the vineyards and there are various areas where you could have parties. There is a barn, which is beautifully decorated and lit inside. It would be perfect for a wedding reception or any other type of party. There are several areas where you could put multiple groups of people or use the whole facility for a giant party. When we were there, there was live music. The band was really good and we enjoyed sitting under the umbrellas and trees while listening. There was also a pizza food truck whilst we were there. I ordered a pepperoni pizza and they delivered it to where we were sitting. I shared it and we all enjoyed a slice. I can't believe I didn't know this existed here before, but I'm so glad to have discovered it. I will definitely come back and bring friends. It's just the perfect little spot to spend some time. Maybe listen to some music, eat some food and drink some wine.

It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed the view. From the patio you can see the big balloon at the Wild Animal Park floating up and down. We decided to have a glass of red. Our friendly servers were so helpful, offering us tastes of their wines to help us decide which one we would get. Tough choices because they were all very good! A very nice vibe here. We easily found parking in their complimentary lot. Ambiance (4.5/5): This is one of the things that make wineries great... the scenic views. While they have a tasting room inside, your best option is to sit outside on the small yet charming patio. The best part is that you'll enjoy the mountains in the background as you sip on your vino. Service (4.5/5): We ordered a bottle of wine about 10 minutes before close. One of the owners was nice enough to allow us to stay outside on the patio way past closing time. He said we could stay as long as we wanted. That's the type of service you rarely see at drinking holes these days. Food (N/A): They had various snacks to purchase and you can also add chocolates with wine flights but we were on a liquid diet. Drinks (4/5): If you're interested in doing a wine tasting, they have both a red and white option. The prices are affordable (especially by California standards) for both flights and if you'd like to purchase bottles of wine for enjoying there or to take home. I did the red flight. They serve it to you on a cutting board of sorts with a piece of paper giving you a short description of each wine. From there, we had a bottle of sauvignon blanc. I didn't take any wine home, but you can get a discount if you buy in bulk. One last thing that made Belle Marie an awesome winery is that it was one of the few open on a Tuesday in the area. A lot of them are open on the weekends only or Wednesday-Sunday or Thursday-Sunday. Belle Marie delivered on the only day we could stop by. For that, I'm grateful!

I also never received a receipt at the end and had to stop by customer service afterward. I also have to mention how much I miss the Greek bowl they used to serve. It had gyro meat and was hands down my favorite thing on the menu. I would love to see it make a comeback. I'll definitely be back because I still enjoy the theater overall, but I do feel like the experience isn't quite as good as it used to be.

There are lots of places to grab a bite or drink -- coffee, smoothies, yogurt, mexican food, argentine food, subs, sushi and pizza (you can actually watch the show while eating pizza on their patio). They show feature movies on the weekend and during the week old tv shows, cartoons, and seasonal stuff. It runs from sundown until around 10 or 11pm every day of the year. It can be a little hard to find, but if you can locate LA Fitness or Old Spaghetti Factory, you're getting warmer. It's nestled between Pizza Nova and Ryan Bros Coffee. Lots of free parking. They've also hosted the annual San Marcos Student Film Festival 2 years running, which is usually in June, and again free to the public. The only reason for the lack of 5 stars is that it is COLD in the winter, and WET when its rainy ...not that there's a real solution to that, other than a blanket and an umbrella.... Expect kids running around, outdoor noise from cars and conversation, but its all part of the fun. Did I mention its all FREE?

Though not "pristine" movie viewing conditions, it's free and its outdoors and did I mention it's Free?. A rad way to spend a few hours some Saturday night taking in a flick. Bring your own blanket (and chair if you've got one, seating can be limited) and re-live the golden age of drive ins, that you probably weren't alive for in the first place.
