We stayed three nights in room 209 for $89.92 per night, which was a slightly above average price for the trip. SHE: First, I have to explain this hotel is in the middle of a corporate office park area. Lots of generic corporate buildings. This apartment is clearly designed for business travelers who come in to work and may stay long-term short-term. That's clearly who it's catering to. HE: There was a minimum of two or three nights in order to book the room, so you can't just stay one night. SHE: So, because of that, it's fancy pretty, at least for us. It has a small kitchen and a big desk for working, and a couch. There's lots of shelves and cabinets and a closet. It has an ottoman that rolls around and a lap desk thing. So, you got a lot more than you get at a normal hotel. The desk had lots of outlets and a comfy desk chair. HE: The only problem is that it's on the far edge of town, far away from any attraction or anything interesting so it's awesome if you don't mind driving into town every day. It was a good 20-30 minute drive every time, depending on the traffic, which was sometimes terrible in places. If you want to do anything in south Denver, it's a great place. SHE: Sheets were comfortable. The bed was pretty comfortable. Four pillows, Two people, four pillows. It passed the pillow test. Each side of the bed had nightstands with outlets. Only one outlet, though? But the kitchen was close enough that I could plug in there and it would reach the bed. HE: Always travel with an extension cord. SHE: I appreciate the bathroom that has a light separate from a fan. It only had the very basics of dishware. Two spoons, two forks, two bowls, two mugs, two glasses, just two of everything except butter knives. There were a lot of plastic butter knives. HE: Full-sized for refrigerator. Freezer was good. Actually froze the stuff. Full oven and stove. Microwave. SHE: It had blackout curtains, and then shear curtains, so you could have some natural light. HE: The manager or owner was very nice and helpful. We only saw her once or twice, but she was helpful and friendly. She told us to stay away from Centennial. SHE: They also had a game room with a foosball table and air hockey and some board games. There's also a very small pool outdoors and a grill. There were a lot of people hanging out at the picnic table over the whole weekend. I suspect some people live or stay there for a long time. HE: There's not much nearby because it's all corporate buildings. There's A 7-Eleven a couple blocks away. You're not too far to drive from your strip malls with all your regular franchises and some grocery stores and stuff. MOD Pizza nearby. SHE: It's really nice, very new furnishings. It was very clean and corporate-like accommodations, but very good. You could probably stay there a long time. HE: I don't think you could find a better place for less than a hundred dollars.

We received quotes from 6 different insurance companies & STATE FARM was $400.00 cheaper. They refused to cancel her insurance & told her that she couldn't cancel. Now we all know that she was being misinformed. She is a senior citizen & was almost taken advantage of by the horrible people in this office. They spoke to her with no respect & were extremely rude to her.

This annual home tour raises funds for the Denver School of the Arts. (Yes, this seems odd since…read moreDSA is in Park Hill and this tour takes place on the opposite side of town. But who am I to question such things. It also seems like there's a "the" or two missing somewhere in the name of the tour, but again, I know nothing.) With 9 astounding historic places on the tour this year, I can only imagine that it will be wonderful year after year. It was founded by the owners of the Lumber Baron Inn, which is apparently featured on the tour every year. From their loving and astounding restoration of a previously condemned Victorian on 37th Ave., you know they have an eye for what makes the Highlands area so great. While the wow factor of the homes on the tour was undeniable, I have to be honest and say that the event lacked organization. Given that it is a fundraiser, you have to give some wiggle room for amateur planners, but if they went on other neighborhood tours they might learn a few things: like publicize the same starting time in all advertisements (not 11 am in some places, noon in others), make it clear where and when you can purchase advance tickets (I tried to buy mine directly from the school, prominently listed as a place to buy tickets, and was turned away), get a certain traffic flow going through the homes (present in some, not all). I will say that I spoke with the owners of the Lumber Baron, Julie and Walt Keller, since their number was on the tour's website. They were wonderful to deal with and very kindly helped me out with my ticket snafu although they are not the planners themselves and were in no way responsible. I hope that the planners can work out some kinks in the coming years. But even if they don't, and they keep the same caliber and diversity of homes in the future, I will highly recommend this tour for anyone who loves historic homes, regardless of the inconveniences!

My friends and I were wondering the neighborhood for the highlands garage sale day and came across…read morethe Jewels of the Highlands open house. When we walked up to the house we were asked to put on booties, no big deal, the lady asked to stamp a booklet and we said we didn't have a booklet and they let us in. Little did we know that it was not an open house. We made it nearly to the back of the house on the main floor and another woman host yelled at us from across the room as if we were three adolescents misbehaving. It was so embarrassing to be yelled at by an adult in a public yet in a professional setting. The three of us are homeowners in the neighborhood and were shocked to be treated so rudely by people that share a love for our area. The host rudely demanded that we need to show her our papers and then asked us to immediately leave and not return unless we purchased tickets. She did explain that it was for a fundraiser for Skinner middle school but her tone and approach were completely unprofessional and alarming. Needless to say I will not be purchasing tickets to go to another home show.
