I am beyond frustrated with this mechanic. I went in for a simple oil change, and immediately after driving home, my brakes started making a roaring sound--something that wasn't happening before. The next morning, I woke up to find my car leaking oil, which was never an issue before. I brought the car back to them and explained everything, but after nearly two full days with no communication, I had to call myself. They told me they'd have an update in 20 minutes and that it would be ready by then. Instead, I received an estimate for over $1,000 worth of repairs. Keep in mind, I explained the oil wasn't leaking before the service, but they just kept insisting it was a "broken cover." They didn't even seem to consider that their oil change might have caused the problem. What's worse is they weren't even willing to take responsibility for any of it, only agreeing to cover a small part of the repairs--yet that still wouldn't fully resolve the leak. This place used to be amazing; I've recommended them to so many people because of their great customer service and unbeatable prices. But after this, I'll never be coming back, and I certainly won't be recommending them anymore. read more

We've been taking our cars to Hilliard for about 5 years now. They keep them running smoothly. They also do yearly inspections. Prices are fair, they'vr never tried to upsell us on anything. read more

I had originally had my car fixed by a nearby shop. When the same thing I had previously had fixed three weeks before broke, I called Hilliard. Not only did they call a towing service to pick up my car, they explained to me why the same part broke for a second time and what needed to be done to fix it. I got my own parts and delivered them to the shop and my car was fixed the same day. I felt safe because they were practicing social distancing and I feel more secure because my car is running again. They seem like an average service station. I think the prices are more than fair and they do a good quality job. I went there for a state inspection. They are meticulous when performing state inspections, so bring the car to them only if it is in good condition to pass. If the car needs work to pass, you can at least be sure they've discovered every flaw. I recommend this shop for females and the mechanically challenged. I believe their service and business is best suited for them. Overall at this time I can only give an average rating because I have not completed an entire transaction with them, however, given their service so far I think they wouldn't give me any reasons to change my mind. P.S. T Fabian has also written negative reviews on Google. The owner has replied to T Fabian's posts on Google review insinuating some kind of retaliation for a "solicitation gone wrong". At any rate T Fabian if this is true quit your trolling and get a life. People come to yelp and Google reviews to get honest opinions, and buffoons such as yourself only retract from these reviews credibility. You can give reviewers more details if this really was the case, but, I'd be willing to bet you're just full of it. read more

My daughter a single mother of 2 took her car to be inspected. They rejected it saying it needed front brakes ( left and right ) and some steering problem and headlamps needed cleaning and windshield wipers. They wanted 454.00 to "fix " it . She didn't have the money so I loaned her my car to drive back and forth to work. My husband cleaned the headlamps and bought new wipers and took it to Sunoco on Wilkerson Rd. They went through the whole process of inspection and found nothing wrong with the brakes or steering and he charged us 20 bucks . It's really a sad thing what they tried to do to her . So please beware of this place . read more

Last year, I bought a 2003 Toyota Corolla from this car dealership. It has now been an entire year since I've owned the car and it runs great, I've had absolutely no problems with it! Yamin is the sales person that helped me with my car. He was very patient showing me the cars on his lot and never made me feel pressured to buy a particular car. When I had questions, he answered them in great detail which helped me figure out which car to buy. This place will definitely make sure you get a reliable car. As far as credit is concerned, mine is not perfect but he was able to work with me with a reasonable down payment and an affordable monthly agreement. He was able to draft my paperwork on the spot when I was ready to buy and he also explained the terms and agreements of my contract in a way that was easy to understand. Called to see if they could schedule me for a mass airflow sensor replacement for an older Jaguar, which can be difficult to work on, and they offered to do it same-day. They called as soon as they had my part and I drove home within 30 minutes after I got there. The total time from my first call to getting home was 3 hours and they did great work. Super knowledgeable about what they do and very friendly. They really went above and beyond both with the service and with telling me any other minor issues with the car they saw during the service. I don't see myself ever going to a different mechanic. read more

Excellent service! Fast, friendly, and none of the BS my usual shop tries to pull. Backstory: I am usually the type that ends up hurrying to get a state inspection done last minute (or sometimes, late) due to poor planning. I was determined that this year would break that cycle. Starting on the fifth, I had it on my to-do list but always put it off or had to reschedule due to other things coming up. Lo and behold, it is now the end of the month; when shops are full of people who also procrastinated and wait times are long. I found myself feverishly calling shops around me seeing if anyone could get me taken care of. The responses were the same, though the tones differed. Some shops simply stated that they were booked, others seemed to be laughing at my audacity to try to get a state inspection done the same day the car would be dropped off. Most only offered inspections on a first come, first served basis. When I called Hilliard Automotive the first time, the gentleman on the phone apologized that they had nothing available until the next day. I told him I would call back. After calling a few more service locations, I decided that this was by far the best option. I called back and scheduled an appointment for 8am today. When I arrived, I was promptly greeted and my car was in the bay within minutes. I fully expected to have to come back for my car, but it was done very promptly, almost an hour before my best-case scenario time! While waiting in the room, I saw three other folks come in and the interactions were professional and courteous. One customer was in by mistake, looking for another car shop that was nearby. Without missing a beat, the gentleman at the desk gave her directions to her intended location. Overall, everything I saw and experienced showed me that these folks are great at what they do and can be trusted to give you an honest answer. Hilliard Auto came recommended by a friend via Facebook. I called to schedule an oil change & they got me scheduled for the same day. (Today). I walked in & was greeted immediately. They drove my car straight back. No waiting in line, no upselling of services I didn't need & they were cheaper & faster than the place I usually take my vehicle. tl;dr - Do NOT take your car here. (Read the rest for more in depth reasons.) I have been going to Omar/Hilliard Automotive for a couple years now. This is all due to the fact that I was too lazy / hardheaded to find a new mechanic. But finally I can no longer deal with this BS. I have ALWAYS had issues with Hilliard Automotive, but I just rationalized them away, just so I didn't rock the boat. (My previous car was being tampered with EVERY TIME I got it back from Hilliard Automotive) On June 14, 2017, I had my car dropped off at Hilliard Automotive. It would not start + I needed a state inspection. Omar informed me that in order for my car to pass inspection, I needed two things done: 1. Rear brake pads & rotors ($200 in Parts) = Total Cost of $399 2. Power steering pressure line leak (214$ in parts) = Total Cost of $460 (This done not include the No start issues. Which they actually diagnosed proper) So a total cost of ~$860 (Including Tax) JUST TO PASS MY STATE INSPECTION. Luckily I had free towing, so I got my car towed to: - Elliott Tire Auto Service - 4101 Glenside Dr. Richmond, VA 23228 (GO TO THEM INSTEAD!!!) They INSTANTLY passed my car for inspection. They told me my Rear brake pads & rotors passed inspection, and that I had no Power steering leak. (To be more specific about my power steering leak. I did have a leak at one point, but I used - ATP AT-205 Re-Seal Stops Leaks, 8 Ounce Bottle. This stopped the leak, but I had some residual power steering Oil on my pressure line. Elliot's told me, that if Hilliard Automotive would have just inspected a little bit more they would have seen that in fact, I no longer had a leak.) So a state inspection, in which EVERY Virginia Mechanic is to use the same standards for pass/fail. I somehow pass at one place and fail at another. Maybe Elliot's is more lax than Hilliard. Maybe Omar Just has high standards. I honestly do not believe Omar is the issue, I believe it is the Mechanics that Omar has working under him that are the problem. I had to finally write this review, in order to prevent someone else from wasting their HARD EARNED $ and Time at a shop that will try to swindle/bamboozle/deceive/cheat/ruse/con/rip-off/flimflam its customers. I had to pay Hilliard Automotive $110 for the rejection Sticker and diagnostic Fee. (There is an AUTOMATIC $90 Diagnostic fee. So if you take your car here trying to determine what is wrong, you will AT MINIMUM pay $90. I understand that mechanics need to be paid for their time, BUT I have been to other mechanics who do NOT Charge a dime for diagnostics.) This is hella long already, but like I said. I am trying to help somebody else out. If Hilliard Automotive is doing this to me. Then they are DEFINETELY DOING IT to the old ladies who bring their cars here. And sadly those old ladies probably know nothing about online Reviews. And OF COURSE there are two sides to every story. Omar may reply to this review and defend his case, but the damage has been done. I HATE to burn a bridge with a man I have looked in the eyes and shook hands with. But the way you treat your customers determines your business success. read more
