I'm not from the area and I broke down on I-95 during an interstate trip and my regular shop (CarMax) could t fix it for three weeks! So they suggested this place. They got it fixed a day and a half earlier than I thought. When I went to pick it up, it wouldn't start. So they checked to see if the battery needed a charge or to be replaced. Thankfully just a charge. It was almost closing time. I'm not sure but I have a feeling they would've stayed late to replace it had I needed it (because I explained my pitiful situation). This is a great place to take your vehicle for repair. I took my Honda Pilot to another well known place for brake pads. They had trouble removing the Caliper, so they wanted to do additional work that would have added over $500 to the bill. I had taken my Pilot to One Stop a couple years ago for a timing belt job, so I figured I would ask them about the brake job. First, they quoted me the work over the phone and it was $225 less expensive. Then, when I arrived they said that they would call with a real estimate when they got a chance to look at it. The Pilot only needed brake pads. They saved me over $500. One Stop is honest and fair priced and have earned 100% of my business as long as I live in Richmond. read more

After calling them back to get the car towed to their shop was given a new quote of $1400 for the same job. Once they received the car was given new quote of $2,400. Was called back & given a new quote of $4,500. Was called back & given a new quote of $6,387.21. Was told the car was repaired & ready but then I was told it needed more engine work to be fixed completely. Car was still stalling & catalytic converter code was still present the same day I picked the car up though I paid to get the stalling fixed & there was no catalytic code present when they first received the car. How in good conscious can a shop do this & think that'll be the end? read more

I called one stop auto repair re the cost of replacing a timing chain on my 2011 chevy Malibu. I was given an approx estimate of $1400 over the phone but was told to bring in by so they could look at it. The owner was very nice and told me he would get someone to look at it to determine if a timing chain was necessary. After someone look at my car. I was told that my engine needed to be replace and was given an estimate of $4500 to replacce the engine. When i told the owner that i didn't want to have any work done at this time. I was told that I needed to pay a diagnosis charge of $260.00. I was never told before they looked at the car that there was a charge and I felt it was very deceitful to not tell me about the diagnosis charge until after the fact. $260.00 is a lot to charge me just to look at my car. Any charges should have been explained to me before hand. read more

I called this morning wondering if I would be able to get an inspection and to my pleasant surprise Dave responded "Sure come on in" and even told my boyfriend that he could bring his car in as well. When I walked in I felt very welcomed and I have been here once before so they already had my information stored In their system. Although I only came for an inspection, they noticed I had a few other problems with my car as well so they asked if I would like to get them done. I'm so glad that I trusted RJ and the other repairman to get that done because my air filter was filthy!!! I went in for standard inspection, something (I'm not a car guy) needed to be repaired. Afterwords the next day the check engine light came on, they were extremely friendly and willing to accommodate to check it out to figure out things, turns out it was a simple cap that needed to be replaced, no charge. I have been trying to get an inspection for my car for 2 hours after work. I went to several places that told me it would take 1-2 hours to get my car inspected. A couple of places wanted me to drop my car off and pick it up the next day or it would be a couple of days before they could even consider looking at it. I was getting discouraged and almost decided to give up, but I saw a napa auto care sign and decided to see if they would be able to do it. At first, I was unsure because there was a sign below it that said, blue crabs so I was a bit worried that I was in the wrong place. I spoke to a gentleman inside who pointed me to the side of the building in the back where they were located. I proceeded to the back and spoke to RJ, who was cool, but also had jokes(in a good way). He was very friendly told me that they could get my car inspected immediately. Maybe the stars aligned for me because I almost gave up, but this is a choice I am glad I made. It may have taken 15 at the most 20 minutes to inspect my car! These gentlemen gave me great, friendly and fast service and I do greatly appreciate it. Pure crooks and liars. When Jerry bought this shop, he told me he had no idea what had happened to the previous owner (I owed the guy money and wanted to pay him). I continued using 1 Stop for a while. My Jeep started shutting off at random, and he "fixed" it over and over. Each time it was something different. I grew frustrated, and tried a different shop to no avail, then went back to 1 Stop, where Jerry said it must be the oxygen sensors. He said there were 4, and it would cost several hundred dollars. I had just replaced the O2 sensors less than a year earlier, and knew there were only 2 and they cost $30. He insisted there were 4, and it would be normal for them to go bad in a year. I had suspected he was milking me, but at that point, I *knew* it. I had blown over $1,000 at that point. I was telling a friend my problem, and she suggested I try Powermax. I said that was my old mechanic--it was the shop in 1 Stop's building before Jerry bought it, but the guy had disappeared. She looked at me funny and told me Powermax had moved a few miles to Belt Blvd. I called Powermax, and he said Jerry had agreed to tell any old customers where he was, and Powermax would send any alignment customers to Jerry since they didn't have room for alignment equipment at the new place. Now I knew Jerry was a liar on top of being a thief. Powermax fixed the Jeep in one go. I used to see Jerry's kid wearing a 1 Stop shirt at the school where I worked, and wonder if he knew his dad was a lowlife. read more

I was stuck in richmond for the weekend with car problems. Called about 10 different shops, all no answer, or could not do the job. Then I found this place and it was like a miracle. The woman on the phone was kind, personable, and professional. She assured me they could get the job done despite the fact that I didnt have an appointment. I dropped my car off and had to come back a little past the closing hour, but the owner was there to hand me my keys and assure me that the job was completed. I agree with other reviewers. Crooks & liars. Brought my 4-yr-old Honda Accord in for a routine VA state inspection because my regular shop was booked up. Jerry said I needed $375 brake/rotor replacement. My brother advised me to let them slap a rejection sticker on it and take my car elsewhere. Did. Passed new shop inspection. buyer beware, they did not tighten all the bolts on my tires and 8 fell off, fortunately I was not hurt, then they did not screw on the drain plug on my truck which left me stranded for hours on the side of the road. I got another oil change in my van and the change oil light is still on, not sure if they actually changed the oil or not. never using them again, they never paid a dime for any other their mistakes which cost me alot of money in townig, etc for their mistake. read more
