I used to be a Walgreens customer who was tired of waiting for lengthy prior authorizations and prescription pick up wait times. I decided it would be best for me to switch to a smaller pharmacy. I didn't necessarily look for a mom-n-pop pharmacy, but rather a smaller national chain with the conveniences of a bigger retailer that has most medications on hand and can do drug compounding. I couldn't be happier with my choice. The prior authorization for my medication used to be a real problem for me. Walgreens did a terrible job of working with my physician and insurance to work out the requirements and it would often take more than a week to fill my prescription. After switching to American Specialty Pharmacy, I have my medication ready for pick up in two to three days because they do all the cumbersome, but necessary, legwork. I like this pharmacy so much that I drive all the way from Southtown to the Medical Center for my medications. American Specialty also offers home delivery, though I am unsure if it is restricted to certain areas. If you are tired of Walgreens, CVS, and HEB pharmacies, try American Specialty. You will find quicker service, greater attentiveness, and fewer overall problems.
